Went to this game with my Dad. Caught a Muni to the Stick and dang it was cold that night. Anyone else remember the lights going out in one section of the stadium during the game? Also walked down to the field after the game and ran to the endzone for a touchdown. Good times......good times

Wow! What a 3 week span on MNF in 1985. The week prior Giants and Redskins, Taylor breaks Theismans leg. This game the next week, the the Bears go down for the only time in '85 in Miami. A bonus, Bo Jackson's legendary performance vs Alabama that won him the Heisman. I'm sure ABC would love to have these games back.

I think of the 3 games you mentioned, 49ers vs Seahawks is the one nobody probably remembers. I only remember it because I taped 49er touchdown drives during Montana's career. All my tapes got damaged in storage. I didn't know TH-cam would be created so no big loss.

This is the season Roger Craig gained 1000 yards rushing and receiving. The end of an era, as well, the waning days of the true two-back offense. I wasn’t watching much football by the mid 80s, didn’t realize that Orenthal James Simpson had such a substantial role in the MNF booth. I guess Howard, Dandy Don and the rest had ridden off into the sunset?

Wow. Dwight Clark and Jerry Rice both on the offensive lineup at the same time.
Dwight wins all time 49er receiving title (408 career receptions) in this game. Little did anyone know that the rookie #80 was going to smash that record, and many others as well, in the coming years.
But what a weird game from start to finish. Worst Montana (1st half) I've ever seen. Seattle even worse - taking 3 points off the board!??! Almost shut out except for the blocked FG and capture in the end zone. Both teams really struggling. Even the score was weird. And topping it off the ending was weird - ending on a "Defensive Foul. Game is over!" with 16 seconds still on the clock.??!! I thought the game can't end on a penalty. What a weird game. One fantastic highlight at 2:26:33: Dwight Clark's CLASSIC leaping fingertip TD catch in the end zone. That was spectacular, and won him the all time '9er receiving title. That's one thing that Jerry could never do - that leaping, high catch that Dwight did a number of times.

I was only able to see the '85 game a couple of years ago, thanks to a generous uploader here on YT. I was going to school and working in SoCal, and I think only three of the World Champion's games were televised that season.
I commented on the video, that I really didn't see what the Bears were so boastful about in a 26 - 10 game.
A game where the bears only scored one touchdown and a bunch of field goals. It was like they stole the Saints playbook, you know? we will win by having Morten kick field goals all day. BIG DEAL!
Regular season games throughout the 80's, da bears beat the Niner's in really close low scoring games, but then, why couldn't they do the same in the playoffs?

USC at one point had Ronnie Lott, Dennis Smith, Joey Browner, and I’ll even add Jeff Fisher in their Defensive Backfield.
I’m a Broncos fan and it’s known here that Dennis Smith was even scarier than Steve Atwater.

If, during the course of this game, you had told a Seahawks fan and 49er fan that Dave Krieg and Joe Montana would be teammates on the Kansas City Chiefs eight years later, they would have laughed and called you insane. Yet that's exactly what happened.

gyllespie For starters (not you, just newer football fans), the Seahawks were in the AFC for much of their history.
And even after that 2002 realignment happened, the Seahawks and 49ers never really developed any serious hatred for each other until 2011, when two former Pac-10 coaches during the mid-to-late 2000s (Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll) continued their personal rivalry from those college football days.
