  • Iv said it before I need casting lessons, so I was made up when I was able to join Brian Pask down at Langney Point.
This is the first of 2 videos about how to pendulum cast. The first video, covers the introductory phase, ( the Partial , or half pendulum cast)
If you are new to distance casting from the shore, or new to pendulum casting, It is my recommendation that you learn to do an off the ground cast first, this will enable you to learn how do the 'pull punch' phase of the cast , before you start swinging leads around.
I would recommend you have a lesson, but you can also see how to do this in the video I made with Glyn Morgan from the Anglers Den,
    Check the video out :

Really interesting, Thanks. I find it really helpful to learn from seeing another student and obviously Brians small corrections of technique. A great way to learn. Im lucky enough to do some coaching with Brian and he is very good at knowing how to teach as well as being technically spot on too ! Great filming CJ

Yeah he improved my technique. Great casting coach. I urge all who are trying to learn to pendulum cast to have at least one lesson

Yeah, but make sure you protect your finger. That archery glove looks like a good idea.

Fixed spool is called “Spinning” reel in the US

I was finally able to do a pendulum cast today, 4 times in a row.
The thing I didn't understand was how you flick the sinker etc from right to left like an upside down U from right to left over from the right, to the left back behind you then past your right side and BOOM !!!
I was thinking, if the sinker and line goes over then behind you then cast would the line tangle... well to finally answer the question...
NO it doesn't tangle... and WOW, the distance is crazy...
I was using 20lb MONO and my line kept snapping. Lost 2 rigs from doing this hahaha...
Put on 60lb Braided line using an egg beater reel and i've had no issues ever since.

Yes a shock leader is essential, to not use one is really dangerous.

Amazing video. Man I suck at trying to do this.... all I can say is, I need more practice haha. I always seem to hurt my finger holding the nylon line as well...

There are ways to protect your finger. , before you practice, have 1 lesson, its worth it to make sure you arent practicing a bad habit.

Looks like multipliers are on their way out. Everyone seems to use big fixed spools now.

Yes fixed spools have improved a lot, but i like to use a fixed spool and a multiplier side by side. I like the skill you need to use a multiplier and the satisfaction you get from a good cast. 👍

May sound a bit stupid but when using a pulley pennel rig how do u keep the bait attached to the weight when laying on ground?

    • @SEAFISHINGwithCJ
      @SEAFISHINGwithCJ  ปีที่แล้ว

Keep it under tension, also i use gemini bait clips. The hold the hook well until it hits the wster.

Not really work on the fixepool rod coz very soft bending rod. In my opinion .specially if you loaded with 5oz plus the bait too heavy. Multiplier are the best for pendulum cast..

I'll be trying this. Going to use a building glove instead of finger condom
