Thanks Dean, I'm getting back into shore fishing after 15 years. The memories of blasting baits out are so much better than the reality. 100% correct practice, repetition, repeat. Same with baiting up, rig tying and all things to do with efficiency and enjoyment of a session.
Great vid with top tips .. my top tip for anyone watching casting vids is turn the playback speed down an you can follow the lead and rod positioning throughout the cast Tight Lines Sean
Good tip about the tip 😜 TBH my casting ain't there and I don't practice either because I mostly think "put a bait on it". However your video has prompted me to get out practicing more. Thanks Dean.
Good points Dean, I use an Avet sx full mags the last thing you need is to blow your reel up when you are practising and [re] learning your technique ...
Great video from Dean loves how he explains it and breaks the mechanics of the cast down. Done hour practice today , 6 good ones two hit the beach. My thing is years of belting and bashing. Slow it down and feel the lead left arm up drop the tip. Practice Practice Practice .
Great vid there dean, quilty of the trying to get as far as possible every time was out practicing but will use the slosh twenty from now on,out of curiosity after you stopped filming did you try to get past that second bouy,i would of had a go
Wicked video! Hit the nail on the head with practicing your cast rather then see how far you can get with top gear! A fishing cast and tournament cast are Miles apart! 🎣🎣🎣
Good stuff Dean.....take your point on practising with a heavy sinker,as i know only too well the difference it makes when you cast a bait, the feeling is totally different
I poke the lead inside a tennis ball to practice with, saw it in Sea Angler mag years ago and works OK. The left hand pull was one that i wasnt using as much as i should while fishing. I was concentrating all the time on keeping it smooth, but with a bit of speed. By adding in the pull with the left hand at the end (although i pull with the left from a bit higher) by heck it doesnt half make some difference!! I dont use expensive rods, Icon match elite and Icon power elite, teamed up with Fathom 15SD's. And can now get a decent distance, over 100yds with a baited rig. Love the videos, enjoy watching them with a nice cuppa on a Sunday at tea time👍👍
Great video Dean, makes alot of sense. I'll be out with my Slosh 30 this week instead of the millionaire and give it a go. Less winding - more casting👍
Nice one Dean 👍 I found conoflex rods very unforgiving in the getting it wrong department, I snapped 2 😕 I use custom 100lb body mackerel feathers to practice, makes it a bit less boring, obviously pointless in coloured water down there.
I was not expecting such a great video. I was listening very close to what you were saying. Thanks for the tips! will be checking out more of your vids
Good to see an Englishman casting. I was a student of Les Baldry and Neil mackellow in the eighties in the USA and I learned alot about casting. I still drag one of my zziplex rods to the field or beach for a session and I am 77.Keep the leads flying, merry xmas 🎄🎄.
The 1 thing that always used to get me when I went practicing was belting it as far as I could and then winding in again, after half a dozen casts I was knackered and had enough so using a slowed down reel is a great tip, I do have a question tho , power Vs Timing/Technique and which is more important , I went through major surgery a decade ago where they basically split me in half and I never really regained full strength in my stomach muscles so I downgraded all my gear to lighter rods ( AFAW 4 & Baits ) but Im not worried I just concerned I wont get to those distances needed anymore
Hi Dean, Another great video, and some very useful tips. Just one thing, are you casting straight though with 30lbs main line, or and using a shock leader?. I know you are not power casting, but with an 8 oz lead?, for people starting out learning to cast, would it not better, for safety to use a shock leader, no criticism Dean, just asking, Thank you, all the best.
Great video mate and great casting & so smooth but it would be nice to see a few in slow motion mate I'm struggling to get my swing spot on but thanks for sharing your technique it looks awesome 👍

Class video again Dean, great simple tips 👍
Great video Dean, very informative. You make the cast look so easy. 👍
Nice vid Dean. I always cast against a loosened drag. Even less winding in.

Great edit m8 👌
Watching you cast like that, you make it look so easy 😂. I often hit the deck with the weight, now I know where I'm going wrong 👍.
He's Welsh how dare you call him english😂
That is smooth, nice and slow, thanks bud learned something
Very good style. Great tip. Great instructional.
Hi dean could you do off the ground casts by any chance for uz, as i'm in that faze at the min. All the best from GRIMSBY.
Great advice for longer shorter drop for left and right...gona help me loads ..cheers

Sounds painful mate, time and technique first then power at the end, if to much power or power to early it will work against you,

Always use a leader, it's very vizable as I'm.talking to the camera
Great video mate and great casting & so smooth but it would be nice to see a few in slow motion mate I'm struggling to get my swing spot on but thanks for sharing your technique it looks awesome 👍
Very informative video just one question as the lead goes past you do you then push left arm out and lower tip at same time
Great video has helped loads

Top tips. 👍🎣. Watch eastenders. 🙈😂😂
Some great tips there Dean, but you won’t catch any daggies like that 😂😂🐶🎣🐟
The quicker you get that left arm out the lower the lead will be once it’s passed you
