Not a single mention of the molotov coctail, proboably the most efficient makeshift weapon in the winter war, and in WW2 in general. A bit dissapointing...

Polish resistance during ww2 had lots of improvised weapons. It was a time when you could find a lathe and milling machine just by walking into any basement so it wasnt too difficult to fabricate guns.

In the first Gulf war we had 5 ton dumps. We welded pickets to the sides and made walls to fill with sand bags for protection. 5 ton dump could take the weight and we opened fire on it to test the walls with M16/60. Worked very well. Downside, had to remove everything and grind off welds before shipped back. Betsy was retired soon after returning to Ft Bragg

My dad finished his degree in chemical science and after that came the Croatian war for independence
. Due to his knowledge in chemistry at the start of the war, he was making makeshift explosives for our army because we had almost no guns/explosives and so on. Our military consisted of police weapons and DIY explosives.
He told me that one way they made the explosives effective was putting nails and screws into the device for piercing power. They had to make do with what they had available so they used anything with the potential to go boom such as fertilizer and so on. When I asked him if he could tell me detailed information on how everything was made he told me maybe one day when you get older I'll show you my notebook where I wrote down the recipes for all kinds of explosives(I was around 10 then). Tbh, I have totally forgotten about it till today, might have to ask him one of these days.
As you can imagine a country that didn't have weapons like assault rifles and similar they didn't have armored vehicles either. They made makeshift armor vehicles from tractors that had welded plates to them to prevent piercing artillery.
To any Croats or Serbians, please don't fight or harass each other in the comments, this was only posted so people who are interested in this theme can get a glimpse into guerilla DIY tactics that sometimes have to be used in war.

That primitive trench knife wasn't made from two pieces. It was a single long piece of an iron stake. Armies back then had blacksmiths. Placed further back from the Front, these men heated one end to put a crude but effective sharp tip and edge on the stake. With the rear portion heated and bent into a knuckle guard.

Just a little disappointed that we didn't see the AN/M2 Stinger, a modified .30-06 aircraft machine gun, with an M1 Garand stock and trigger group bolted to the back. 1,200 rpm of put out a lot of hate, really, really quickly. Accuracy was often less of an issue, because of the simple volume of fire.

    • @filthycasul1804

the accuracy of a weapon in practical use depends on both the ability of the weapon to put rounds where it's pointing and the ability of the shooter to point the gun where they want bullets to go. scopes magnify your view through them which allows you to make more precise adjustments to your aim which in turn enables increased accuracy. it's not so much the weapon that's inherently more accurate as it is the shooter being able to more accurately aim the weapon.

    (Sube, sube) Oh
    Quiero ver bailar tu pelo
Quiero ser tu ritmo (uh oh, uh oh)
Que le enseñes a mi boca (uh oh, uh oh)
Tus lugares favoritos (favoritos, favoritos baby)
Déjame sobrepasar tus zonas de peligro (uh oh, uh oh)
Hasta provocar tus gritos (uh oh, uh oh)
    Y que olvides tu apellido
    Despacito
Vamo' a hacerlo en una playa en Puerto Rico
Hasta que las olas griten "Ay, bendito"
Para que mi sello se quede contigo (báilalo)
Pasito a pasito, suave suavecito (hey yeah, yeah)
Nos vamos pegando, poquito a poquito (oh no)
Que le enseñes a mi boca (uh oh, uh oh)
Tus lugares favoritos (favoritos, favoritos baby)
    Pasito a pasito, suave suavecito
Nos vamos pegando, poquito a poquito
Hasta provocar tus gritos (eh-oh) (Fonsi)
Y que olvides tu apellido (DY)
    Despacito

Right!.I'm from Syria the war started all because of Assad refusing to let Qatar to extend it's fuel pipes from Syria to Europe if he did accept Russia would be weak so NATO and gulf (except oman) supported FSA and ISIS as they mentioned they wanted democracy but in reality they want to remove Assad from office for the sake of oil as NATO already did this on Saddam Hussein and mummar ghaddafi. as a Syrian I totally agree on assads Desison on backing down Qatars deal!.
      God Syria and Assad!✌️💘🇸🇾💯

    few corrections:
    1) It's Syrian war NOT Syrian civil war (because it's international and not civil)
    2) It's not a conflict between Assad's regime and rebels but rather a conflict between the Syrian official government/army and the western/Arab/Turkish backed TERRORISTS (not rebels), the so called rebels are as terrorists as ISIS and don't deserve sympathy (civilians do, but not terrorists FSA,Nusra,SDF,ISIS all the same).

You mention the polish flame thrower but not the single use German flame thrower that was put into production to help defend Berlin?

That wasnt improvised. It was a weapon produced on a mass scale by the actual army, not guerillas.
