I honestly don't believe that speculation. The usb cig USB adapter is a regulated 5v source. Ultimately, all your car USB ports are powered by the same 12v battery that is regulated to 5v.
@@GearGadgetExperiments I tested that cigarette lighter with an attached device and it doesn’t shut down when the car is turned off. I read that it shuts off after 30 minutes. Is that true?
Pull the orange thing out. There is a little opening on the right side to route the wires into the center console. Add a fuse tap.
I thought about doing a hardwire, but in the end, it was more effort than I wanted to put in. Thanks for the tip!
Does the charging pad work underneath the factory rubber piece?
No. I tried it. Haha
I heard the piece on the cord with the light gets hot. Have you had any issues related to that?
No issues with mine. Maybe I don't use enough?
Very cost effective way of doing this . Thanks !
You're welcome!
does the charger turn off if when the vehicle is turned off ??
Yes
Great tips 👍🏻
I have heard that charging from the cig lighter is unstable and can hurt your battery.
