Buy the Spigen Thin Fit Case for OnePlus Open: amzn.to/4aMK6kp (Affiliate Link) Buy a Pop Socket amzn.to/3TThGy7 (Affiliate Link) Pop socket came off lol. Too much bulk!
Hey Shane, I found a cool grip on Amazon called the tango. Its incredibly thin and functions the same as a pop socket, I'm going to set the Spigen and that to see how it does. Thanks for the cider!
I've had this case for about a week. It's absolutely amazing. I didn't use the adhesive on the back side so I can easily swap my sim around, no issues of it coming off without the adhesives. If you can point out in your next video that glass screen protectors will not work with this case just to let others know. I tried 5 different brands and all are too big for the case. Maybe Spigen can see your video and decide to make a screen protector too.
I settled on the Nillkin case with hinge protection and a spring loaded cover for the camera. It doesn't use adhesive but fits securely to the Open. I need quick access to my sim tray since I use multiple devices through the week.
@@Decky1980 Yea, it's not the most aesthetic feature and I've caught myself taking a pic and forgetting to uncover the camera. It's definitely the most negative aspect of the cover. I like how the front part fits the Open and the hinge protection. The Open opens flat when in use. The case is very durable and feels good in the hand.
Ty for the review, i'm waiting the Oneplus original one with the stand and an aramid one form china.....and finaly the last software update the 14.0,0.600(EX01) have arrived here in Italy
The Libeagle did it for me. Hinge protection and built in cover screen protector and still kept it slick with a kickstand. Havent dropped it holding it yet. Fell out of my pocket on the baseball field and phone is still intact.
In my opinion, cases with build in screen protection are the way to go for foldables. They make the cover screen protection very sturdy and the screen protector is just a bonus that doesnt add any bulk. Two birds, one stone.
I got a cheap Chinese case made for the Oppo Find N3 Fold. It was $10 from ebay and it has the metal ring built in for magsafe accessories. It does the job.
I have so been hoping for Spigen to do a case for the Open and for a millisecond thaught that wish came true - until I read the "thin" part. I have been very happy with their Tough Armor one for my OnePlus 8 Pro and saw them having a Slim Armor one for the Pixel Fold that looks like providing a good amount of bumper on all sides. That is what I hope Spigen to do for the Open, too.
I'm going to wait for a transparent version, other color options and if it's available one with hinge protection. The Poetic case is the best quality so far but they messed up the design with the crazy huge hinge protector loved the grip and how thin it's otherwise
I lapped my Galaxy Z Fold 3 getting out of a semi lifter F350, it hit the step-bar at an angle which projected it outwards, it landed on the scheen and slid about 6-10 feet facedown across the asphalt. It left a REALLY teeny tiny little nick on the corner of the phone and not a scratch on the screen. I was like how is that possible!
The only cases I like on my Open are the ones that go over the camera. It makes it way nicer to hold. My pointer finger rest nicely inside one of the camera holes. I found one on Amazon that is slightly thicker then the free one but not as thick as the rest
3m tape on the area of the screen would stick on the screen protector. Don't you think if we take the front case off, it would take the screen protector off too from that side. Especially membrane ones.
Really wish Pitaka had made a case for the phone. Grown to really like the aramid fiber cases, and they make the best ones hands down. OnePlus Open could've used one.
I would prefer to hold the open device with my left hand and use the index ☝🏻 of the right one to control it. But I see if you rotate it sideways that works with the popsocket. I've just ordered both the device and the popsocket!
Its twice as thick as the included oneplus case. I put on one half and you can see the difference is so obvious. Thats good for protection. It feels nice Camnot be used with a tempered glass dcreen protector
I shipped one from USA to Malaysia. They only have chinese cases here, including nilikin thst im using now. Honestly its good but its really ugly. Excited to recieve the spigen case. Hope it works out well. We use the Oppo Find N3 here. Hoping the fit is the same. 😊
I have a similar case. Don't remember which company. I don't use the kickstand cause I don't have nails to get the thing open 😂. I used the front screen protector for a while but it was getting too annoying. So now I use the back of the Amazon case (with the hinge protection flap/fidget toy) in combination with the front case that came in the box...
@@sayididit2930 I also don't really use the kickstand, lol. I would rather have MagSafe instead of the kickstand. The front screen protector on mine is working out for me so far.
@sayididit2930 The hinge protector will push out of the way and bend the thin ridge of that original front each time you open and close the phone. Thus I am not happy with that setup - the only reason, I actually set it up today as that Amazon case arrived, is that I do not want to commit to the screenprotector before evaluating compatibility with another (book style) case option that I want to swap between most likely.
@@elho001 Mine doesn't move the front protector at all when opening, completely solid. I can't even move the front cover with my fingers. You may have a defective one.
You are talking about the front bumper with protective screen that came with the Amazon one, right? I was referring to using the OnePlus front bumper with the Amazon backone like@@sayididit2930 described in his reply. And as that OnePlus front bumper does not have the protective screen to provide stability and stick it to the device, the thin ridge on the left moves very easily.
There is a small rectangular noise cancelling microphone on the bottom right side of the camera hump. Does this caes cover it or is there enough space?
Great video! Curious of your opinion on something. I have the Fold5 and I'm bored with it and seeing how the Fold6 looks to be not much of an upgrade would you recommend the OnePlus Open? OnePlus is giving $1150 trade in for the Fold5 so I could get it for under $400.
Shane - have you tried ring holders instead of pop sockets for the oneplus open? Any thoughts? I use the Lamicall rings with 3M adhesive that is built in.
For that price and no built in screen protector or protection on the hinge it's a big no. Most of these cases get flimsy from the part of the main screen on the hinge side. They need to make one that is thinner and with a built in screen protector that works well. Like a latercase
Hi Shane, what icon pack are you using? Really liking them and great video as well such a coincidence I was looking at this case recently for my OnePus Open but it's so new there aren't any reviews yet so this very timely!
Switching back and forth as often as you do how do you keep up with you text messages since Google messages don't work like imessages or am I missing something?
It is not unfortunately. There is not a screen protector that is compatible with the Spigen case yet. I tried 5 different ones and all were too big and cause the protector to start bubbling up
You gotta understand not everyone wants what you want. I cannot stand cases with built in screen protectors. Every one I've ever tried has been awful 😂
Congrats! Now you got an LG V60 in a DS case for 7 time the price 😂. Well, you do get an extra screen with the Open but only that one is glass. Also better specs and software support but again 7 times the price.
@@shanecraigtech I am just disappointed that Duo was a failure because now my only upgrade path is a foldable - Duo 2 is so purely supported that even my V60 is on a higher Android number. Hopefully the inner screen on new foldables won't crack on the middle or get destroyed by a foreign object like send.
Bro, I've watched you grow from around 1k subs to where you are now. I have a question that's not related to the video. How do you upload so frequently? I've been trying to build my channel as well, and I struggle at times with consistently uploading videos. Even just creating and editing videos takes me a while, so what's your process like, if you don't mind sharing?

long time for that as yet considering OPPO are suggesting Q2/3 of 2025

No hinge protection while closed is a deal-breaker for me. I'm sticking with the Nillkin case.
I can't stand the bulk they add + I've never had any hinge damage. To each their own though!
Phone came with armored glass already from the factory and a shock absorbent leather back. That's enough protection for me!
@@shanecraigtech Bulk? Phone fits just fine in all my pockets. No skinny jeans for me!
