Light-headed, no wonder. This is turning into a masterpiece. Nothing better than a low-slung custom with an exhaust that growls like a mean dog (not Moon!).
Even though you are a hot rodder Matt, this custom is your crown jewel! From inspiration to working out every detail, you & your crew have nailed the perfect early post war custom. The rear end treatment turned out so much better than I had imagined. Kudos to you for your insight! 😊
I can't wait to see how far along it will be when you drive it out into the springtime sun.
This car is rapidly becoming custom perfection.
The chop is perfect especially the windshield treatment.
The exhaust note is perfect.
Suddenly it’s the 50’s Kudtom Scene again. Sweet look sound and vibe. Thanks for keeping that period alive.
Looking and sounding amazing! Love all the work you've done to the rear end, the lights and bumper work so well together too.
I've gotta hand it to you Matt, when you ruin a perfectly good car you do a kick ass job of it!
That sounds like a back hand of a compliment?
Hi Matt, Steve, Mike, Moon and all! I miss you , your wife and Moon opening mail. That is not a complaint Matt! I love to see the builds, maintenance and adventures and I know how busy ITG has become. Your 39 Merc is period correct and beautiful as is. I'm excited to see her finished. I appreciate your take on period correct style. Back in the 40,50 and 60's, most of the primer and rust was because they couldn't afford to finish there rides to the fine degree of their idols.
Hi Matt and Steve, the Mercury is turning out beautiful, I'm drooling when I see it. I'd like you to post a before and after photo later. Thanks for enabling AI translation, it helps me. It helps a lot to understand the step by step. I always see you with commercials and everything to help the channel. I send you a big hug and blessings to you and your families from Buenos Aires, Argentina.🇺🇸🍻🇦🇷
That car is so badass!!!!! Great job guys!
Great look on the positioning of those pipes just below the tail lights 😊😊sounds fabulous 😅😅the stance looks good as well.
Nailed it! I’ve quit asking what’s next because what comes next is always a surprise and fantastic!
The car and the mods are really looking great. Being an old guy, this reminds me so much of the cars and shops back in the day. This is a great series, and I really enjoy following along. Can't wait to see what you have in store for the front end!
Sweet, sweet music! The exhaust tips compliment the visual, it doesn’t look too busy 👍
Low’n mean ! What a beauty !
That car is righteous and lays out perfectly. It's definitely turning into the perfect summer cruiser. (Sounds great)
Love the project. Suggestion: strap the frame to your lift arms when you want to hold the rearend up with trans jack or screw jack. I did this to front end of my truck when I wanted to change coil springs.
SWEET!! Awesome job,& love the look & the sound.
Sounds great liking the stance well done
Oh that sounds great on here hope it’s that good in person
Grease Lightning baby,,,
What’s really cool is how the tail lights reflect off the exhaust tips !!
I love the sound and the ''Lead Sled'' look of the 39. For a way to be somewhat safer why not a tail/brake light inside the Merc on the rear window?
Maybe wrap those pipes under the gas tank?
Not sure they get hot ?
The pipe outlets look awesome 😎
It's your car so who cares what others think. I just appreciate the efforts you're putting into the project and trust that it will be awesome when you're finished.
It looks and sounds sooo good! Great job guys, can wait until it gets a nice paint job and interior.
Just gets cooler and cooler
Well done- Thanks for sharing
Looks very good. You guys are navigating the rabbit hole like a pro. LOL Nice work.
Looking better and better…. You have a good eye for customising.
Sounds bloody lovely.
Wow looking and sounding awesome !!👍👍
Man that thing looks sooooo' so good !! 😊 ❤❤❤
Not one negative thing I can think of. That car is great!
When you first turn the car on it sound like it was saying, Nana Nana…Nana, Nana, Nana, Nana …..Nana! 😅 it must’ve been those baffles you were talking about now. It sounds really good with them out.
The “ Sweet Baby Merc”!
Simply AWESOME!
Love the sound, car is coming along great.
Beautiful!!!!!!
Matt you nailed that roof! Has taken on the look of a Zephyr !
Love what you guys are doing. The transformation is amazing. Can't wait to see what you do up front.
Those mercs have always benefitted from a nice chop/lowering job. I have about 50 N.O.S shocks from MAECO (precursor to monroe) with those exact measurements. Nice to know, finally, what I have
moons a hell of a dog!
Great look over all . I love this process. It looks awesome
Wow! That sounds amazing and not a puff of smoke. Another victory. You’re definitely on the right path lol.😊
my word for the car is sneeky looking its nice to have parts in stock to finish the job.
Good video. What a change from the day you picked up the Merc.
Incredible transformation. Love the look.
Looking good and sounding good Murphy!!!!
I love the sound of a flathead with glass packs.
I can tell Moon Dog approves.
He can't wait to go for a test ride 😮
Looking great and the new exhaust note is totally WICKED! LOVE IT! Keep on keeping on buddy!
This car is looking great. Keep it going.
that sound never gets old!
Sweet looking rear end! 👍👍 Consider exhaust pipe heat wrap on the tailpipes under the gas tank to reduce heat transfer to the gas tank?
Looks great, sounds great and great job guys.
twice pipes...so nice......sounds like a flathead should sound.....What shows will the car be at? I'm driving to PA to see it....
Man , I love that Merc ! Best looking chop ever ! 👍
Gotta love arm chair, tire kicking experts telling you how to do YOUR project lol You guys are experts, pretty sure you guys know more than most of the trolls.
Most of these armchair mechanics can't change a tire
Sounds great moon gives it 2 paws up 👍🏻😂
Looks Awesome, Matt!
Another advantage of 4 post lifts is good ones don't need to bolt down and have wheels. I couldn't build cars anymore without a lift, hell I even lift to clean the wheels. Aaaand I have those flower lights all over the shop.
Steve on the camera is what we like to see
Really like the exhaust tips and sound. Everything is looking great. You answered my question, I have been wondering if I can run pipes under the gas tank? Sounds great!
One of my favorite builds you've done
Very nice car love the sound 👌
Spring rate determines how far the axle moves under load; shocks determine hoe fast it goes up or comes down. In modern racing, teams have shock specialists to keep track of adjustments. I like the old school methods that you use: If it fits, it works.
Wow! You have nailed it!
Looking good
Sounds & looks sweet ! 😁👍
I like it. Good job.as always keep on wrenchin😎👍
Looks GOOD and Sounds GOOD!
The tail pipe tips with the rolled edge will make it rap. back in the day we called them pencil tips.
I think the "A" in your neon sign burned out. check 21:23
Cooking up some exhaust pipes in the kitchen that will taste great on the 39 merc
2nd , great show to watch for lunch .
Looks Great!
Thats a bad ass car buddy!
Looks perfect!
Exhaust sounds good
Yes sir the car sounds good. You are correct in your assessment of the original taillights being hard to see. Years back an associate at work had a 41 Plymouth that he had installed a 340 Mopar v8 in and with the exception of the paint and the wheels the car was basically stock appearing and coming up on him at night with those iddy bitty factory taillights you are right up on him before you realize that there is a vehicle going down the road. Even though the taillights might be a little too close to each other the Led lamps make them visible.🥸👍👍👍👍👍👍
Glass packs and a flathead, takes me back to my high school days, stance a bit to high in front for my taste, but still looks mean, not crazy about tail pipes under the gas tank.
EPIC! So proud of you guys!
The rear on that thing is as sweet as JLo's. Looks great at any speed.
this car looks so cool and sounds amazing
Sounds great.
Functional lake pipes might have been a solid option.
Looks great
If the exhaust pipes came out before the rear end, it might have eliminated a lot of negative perspiration. A matter if preference. It's been an amazing build so far.
they may say you destroyed a classic but 9 owner later it already had a hard life and was left to rust , you could say she's a a phoenix coming back too life from the rust depths of hell Matt the one thing that's true Matt is in 40 years from now she'll still be a kickass 39 mercury Matt ..... 👍
looking good - thanks guys1
That is indeed, pretty nice.
Steve has great camera presence. When does he get his own hot rod project?
Sounds and good!
just plain wicked. (hi moon!)
Yah, baby!!!
Lookin awesome
Looks very busy in the middle of the rear end,
In my opinion I would of had the exhaust tips on the outside of the overriders
Ten times better than stock
It came together beautifully! Please, park it in my driveway and leave the keys under the mat.
Now you have gone and done it your in deep now hehehe it needs Lincoln door buttons
It's gonna look even better, when it's all the one colour, again.
Matt do you guys sell any front dropped axles for a 1936 ford preferably a 4” drop? Merc is looking great keep it up!
