    This was great. I've gone down the eurorack rabbit hole, and haven't been using my Sub37 all that much. But it's right there to the right side, and now I think I need to go plug it in and clock sync my arpeggiator. I really wish my Tribute Sub37 had more CV!!!! arg. Great channel.

    Great video and great jams! Very similar to my workflow down to the type of music your making and even the same gear lol... can you help me understand better how you tuned the two oscillators for the second sound. You put it in duo mode and tune it to C ... I’m confused.

    • @paulruben-sounddesign3748
      @paulruben-sounddesign3748  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I turned on the OSC 1 - played a C on the Keyboard.
      Then turned on OSC 2, switched off KB CNTRL and turned on DUO MODE
      After that I tuned it by ear to the exact same pitch (C).
      When you are in DUO MODE make sure KB CTRL (Keyboard Control) is switched off (the lights left to the duo button should be off)
      You should then have a "C" which is not controlled by the Keyboard - that means - whatever you play on the keyboard will only change the pitch of OSC 1.
      OSC 2 stays in the same tune (in this case a C).
      I'll do another in-depth video about how I use the KB CTRL. I really use that a lot :D
      Hope that helped.

    So I am so green @ analog performance or electronic performance of any kind. I know you explained how you hooked up your instruments. Can u recommend a step by step video that shows me how to play my MoogSub37, monologue, drumbrute, to play together? Embarrassed to ask. Thanks. Nice vid btw

    • @paulruben-sounddesign3748
      @paulruben-sounddesign3748  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Why not! Usually I am working with the DRUMBRUTE as the MASTER CLOCK - However I just integrated the Elektron Digitakt in my setup (as a Midi Master)
      From thereon I can show you how I connect everything properly - so that every synth is synchronized = runs with the same BPM.
      (Digitakt as Master - to a MIDI THRU Splitter - which sends the Midi Signal to all synths as well as the drumbrute)

  • @TheRobinVisscher
    @TheRobinVisscher 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great video! Sleep sounds amazing, imo better then the original! Its a bit faster isnt it?
    Anyway, thanks. Would really love to buy a sub-37, have a deepmind 12 and digitakt now. Do you think they will go well together?

    • @paulruben-sounddesign3748
      @paulruben-sounddesign3748  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah! I think you can have a lot of fun with these instruments. Especially when you go deeper into the digitakt, you can create really beautiful stuff!
      I've been working with the digitakt for two months now. Still tryin' to get to a point where it all just flows. Nevertheless, a powerful instrument! The deepmind is also a super tool. A friend of mine got one too. The Model-D is also an amazing synth. Behringer is doing a really good job these days!

    • @TheRobinVisscher
      @TheRobinVisscher 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paulruben-sounddesign3748 i m real happy with goth digitakt and deepmind, but it does take time to really get to know. But that is also the fun of it. But the sub37 must join the party someday! Do you think there s a big difference between sub37 and subsequent?

    • @TheRobinVisscher
      @TheRobinVisscher 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Model d sounds great too yeah, the tuning is holding me back though

    • @paulruben-sounddesign3748
      @paulruben-sounddesign3748  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheRobinVisscher - I'd say the differences are very very subtle. The Subsequent may have a "clrearer" or "brighter" character than the Sub 37.
      As for me, I'm definitely a fan of the Sub 37. I do like the dark tone of the filter.
      If you have a music store near you, try them both out - what appeals to you more, will be the right one!

    • @paulruben-sounddesign3748
      @paulruben-sounddesign3748  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think that totally depends where you wanna go. Ask yourself some questions: Ambient or more agressive stuff? Monophonic or poly? Analog or digital? Do I need/want a drummachine or a sampler?
      E.g. I started with the Voyager and wanted company. So I worked 6 months and bought a Fender Rhodes. That combi was gold! I went on with the Microbrute (analog mono) - how ever it was too agressive for my kind of music.
      So I switched to the SubPhatty (analog mono) - which had a rich fat sound, how ever - it was not the right synth for my setup neighter.
      A short time I worked with the Juno 6 (analog poly) - it sounded soo good - but I couldn't really work with it because I needed that MIDI connection to sync everything as well as the possibility to save Presets. Then I decided to use the Roland Boutique JX-03 (digital polyphonic) just to find that it was also not the right thing. So...
      I sold all these synths and now got this setup, which I use now - Sub 37 + Prophet 6 + Mellotron Micro (plus Keystep) and Drumbrute
      It's been a long journey till here. So for me it was really hard to figure out which synth fits best in my setup and workflow.
      I started to make these videos to show you what you can do with these synths - and what I find most usefull. e.g. PROPHET 6: using the sustainpedal while the sequence is playing - these are some tricks that are worth gold!
      Check out my other vids and maybe you'll find what you're searching for!
      hope that helps :P

    If you could recomend one piece of equipment to someone who uses trad drums, guitar and bass? Just one.
    I just want to be able to create interesting synth sounds and probably a few layers sometimes and a latch or freeze function?
    I started out wanting to get a synth 9 pedal and now I'm here. Price isn't a problem.
    The style of music I make is hard rock / metal

    • @paulruben-sounddesign3748
      @paulruben-sounddesign3748  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say if the price really isn't a problem - hahaha - get a MOOG VOYAGER.
      Check out my video about playing Psychedelic Stoner Rock / Doom with the Voyager.
      th-cam.com/video/3k5I5DXEG6g/w-d-xo.html
      I guess you'll need a "harsh" sounding synth - take a listen to the Korg Monologue.
      Actually a friend of mine is playing this synth and drums (ELEPHANT)
      Take a listen here - th-cam.com/video/cNLO7NM0g7Y/w-d-xo.html
      Simon (DRUMS) is playing the Monologue plus Re-20 Space Echo.
      Marcel (GUITAR) is playing the Moog Minitaur (sequenced by an Arturia Keystep)
