I always run a grenade launcher and supply pack both on bugs and bot, and it works wonders, I always get a minimum of 200+ kills on missions. The grenade launcher is a severely underrated weapon especially for horde clearing, I call it the "fuck that general direction" gun. Bringing the supply pack with it ensures you always have ammo to rain down on your enemies, and by the time your pack is empty the supply pack stratagem is ready again.
I actually prefer the bullet guard dog over the laser one in all situations. I find that the guard dog has plenty of ammo, using ammo roughly at the same rate as I do. As long as you're occasionally picking resupplies and ammo, it will last as long as you do. The bullet guard dog also does way less friendly fire than the laser variant, because it does not fire unless it's fully on target (whereas the laser swipes everyone at headshot height when switching targets). When the bullet guard dog shoots an enemy, it usually dies pretty much instantly. The laser variant takes some time to kill the target, especially for medium armored enemies. The laser guard dog may feel like it's doing more, but that's because the laser beam is always active even when it's missing the target (such as shooting the ground below the bug's feet).
The ttk on the bullet buddy is so much shorter than the laser buddy. If you stay on your toes, focus on heavies, you dont even have to worry about mid/low tier bugs.
I'm fairly certain bullet dog can oneshot you if you're wearing light armor and bullet hits your head. Happens once In a blue moon, but still. Other then that, I would agree that it's way better then laser one. Since it got medium pen, it can reliably take down anything short of chargers/hulks, and it's ammo reserve is close to infinite.
Personally I put the gundog almost in S for bots. In super helldive it's ability to effortlessly take out rocket striders and devs/berserkers and it's ability to clear small bots out so fast they never get the chance to call drops makes infiltrating large bases, jammers, bunkers and orbital cannons an absolute cakewalk
Gundog is almost perfect. I wish you could set it to not fire at things it can't damage, like Hulk or Tanks. It shreds a group of enemy easily if it has full ammo. The other 3 slots can be focused on the anti-tank strategems easily.
Honestly, I'd rank Ballistic Dog over Laser dog because while having limited ammo is certainly one downside, the ammo economy and max ammo count for it is large enough to where this is not really that big of an issue (at least in my experience) that is remedied very naturally as the diver calls in resupplies (with little to no downtime in between, again in my experience). Because lets break it down to its fundamentals, both dogs' purpose is to add additional fire support and assist in removing additional threats quickly. I strongly dislike L-Dog because people get in this mental trap of "Oh, the Ballistic runs out of ammo, but the Laser doesn't" and **THAT** specifically is the reason they pick L-Dog, when they're still consistently calling in resupplies and still consistently finding and picking up ammo packs around the map that would've kept B-dog up all day anyways. In terms of TTK B-dog blows the L-dog out of the water, no questions, that medium armor pen and great accuracy is critical to its TTK and you can feel it immediately when compared against the L-dog and this allows the B-dog to function effectively against both factions. In terms of accuracy, you can actively watch the L-dog miss for nearly 2 full seconds at 8:10 which in a horde shooter where you're getting flooded with enemies on the terminid side is an impressively bad mark against it. That and I notice very frequently the L-Dog friendly fires against teammates all the time, and it can even friendly fire against you, the person wielding the stupid thing. L-dog is imprecise, less effective, but it's infinite and that feels comfortable to some people. Whereas B-dog **IS** precise, **IS** effective, and just needs consistent replenishing, which is not a failure of it in my opinion.
You only need 1 ammo pickup to restore all of drone ammo, so ammo is really not a factor unless it is a drag-out fight that rarely happens. And it kills those bile spewer really fast
@@shirokatatsu5886 Does it really work? I feel like it still run out sometimes even after I pick up the ammo packs on the map, or must it be resupply ammo?
You nailed it. I went away from L Dog because of the friendly fire. Then realized with the medium pen, the bullet dog was WAAAAY better. And with ammo boxes always laying around, I've RARELY run out.
Now I want an arc dog. Concussive would probably be OP, and fire would probably just kill helldivers almost exclusively. But a Thunderdog? Imagine being able to just have a little flying guy stunlock hunters for you.
"Arc dog" for the love of democracy and freedom don't give them any ideas, the laser guard dog is already a team killing machine, this idea will bring tk ratings to a hundred.
@sgrb387 Hotdog would just kill the user instantly. I rate that idea DSS Barrage/10. Now, a PLASMA DOG... That would be something. Cook everything in LOS, not just yourself and your team. Scout striders? Dead. Bile spewers? Dead. Hunter packs? Dead. The entire squad? You bet it's dead, hope ya got hellpod steering upgrades!
I'll throw my hat in the ring for a stun gun, EMS, or arcthrower guard dog name. The " AX/ARC-120 "Bolthound" ". Following the AX/"weapon type"-"number" format the other guard dog strategems use. ARC is for an electrical arc, fairly obvious. 120 is a reference to 120v being the default voltage of most homes in North America. Bolthound is a play on a possible dog breed name, like a bloodhound, referencing thunderbolts. Have it come out in a riot control themed warbond alongside more arc/EMS based armaments; an EMS stun gun secondary with one shot before reload and a stun duration similar to the stun grenades, and an EMS tesla tower or EMS mines.
With medium pen now on the regular rover I've been absolutely loving it. So many less deaths or team kills because of it. It's quickly becoming my go to.
Ever since they buffed the AX/AR-23 "Guard Dog" to Liberator Penetrator with Medium Penetration and very accurate headshot auto-aim, and the fact that ammo boxes/supply box refills a lot of ammo, it is amazing against both Bugs and Bots. When you are attacking a base (especially the winding paths of a Bot base) or POI, it will take a lot of enemies out. It will basically one-shot every Bot Soldier and every type of Devastator.
It's STRONG. If you're picking off enemies that are charging at you the bullet dog does a nice job covering your back and can give extra firepower when focusing down a larger foe. If you go full "bullet hell" with an MG, turret, and guard dog any enemies in the direction you're facing simply become a non-factor.
The rifle guard dog is great with the arc blitzer / thrower, it kills stuff that you don't outright kill with the arc, while it's stunned from the arc. Perfect combo. Pair with a 500kg or precision strike, and you can stunlock chargers with the arc thrower and land the bomb/strike right on top of the heavy enemies.
I would like to mention that picking up supplies not only resupplies your personal ammo, but also one slot for the supply backpack. in essence, you get double the supplies.
Not mentioned in video - If you have ballistic shield backpack and are holding a 2-handed weapon, then shield it goes on your back and it actually protects you from that direction.
@@ElBromoHojo for sure. It’s important to get into the habit of switching to your support weapon when running with bots to your back. That’s assuming you’re using something like the crossbow as your primary to make max usage out of the shield.
Im actually a big fan of the jump pack on bots coupled with the nade launcher. Getting to a good vantage point with the pack really lets the nade launcher shine during drops and you can just pepper all the gangs that drop down. Helps to get up close the gap quickly on those cannon turrets too, only takes three nade launcher shots to kill and the pack lets me have that high mobility playstyle
I use it with the AMR to get up to a high point and set up overwatch for my team. It's so much fun. Plus it makes running away from bot drops easy as piss. Not to mention all the alternate routes into the bot outposts it opens up.
I like pairing it with everything, having the jump means you’re able to choose your engagement. Accidentally aggro a patrol? Retreat and reposition. Speed kills
I know this is true for me- honestly I’d assume it’s true for most people watching this video. I know what I like, and what I’ll bring but I still love watching these Tier lists just for fun. Sometimes taking doodoo weapons is fun.
I would also like to say the Jump Pack gives you the same speed in heavy armor as in light armor when going from place to place, making you much more mobile in the fight AND having more survivability, not as important for the bugs but very important for the bots. This allows you to shrug off most anti infantry fire while also being one of the faster loadouts in the game
@@RowOfMushyTiTtbh the unflinching armor passive doesn’t mean much to myself nor any people in the community I’ve talked to. There is a clear advantage to it though for players who use the quasar cannon or AT weapons. Having a hulk charging in and being at 90% charge with the quasar cannon only for a trooper to shoot you and cause you to lose aim at the last second, it is such a frustrating occurrence. Having unflinching for weapons where each individual shot is one you can’t afford to miss definitely makes more sense than weapons like a shotgun or machine gun
@@MAGS-ik5ujthe passive is amazing to me simply for stopping hunters from randomly flinching you ten times in a row so you cant stim, because flinching is incredibly frustrating
Random tips for each backpack: 1. Ballistic shield - Only use on bots. Make sure the enemy is only from the front. Otherwise, reposition yourself or clear out direction with fewer enemy first. 2. Bubble shield - Don't normalize to rely on this shield. Make sure to not use this shield once in a while to ensure your gunplay and tactic is still reliable. 3. Gun rover - Before engage, make sure to kill any heavy target. The rover can help with clean up. Great for "point of interest" diver. 4. Laser rover - Stray away from your team or maintain safe distance to avoid unnecessary TK. 5. Gas rover - Do not use if possible. 6. Jump pack - Save the jump for crucial situation. Do not jump towards enemy. 7. Supply pack - If you're solo player, then bring this with intention to resupply yourselves.
it's funny how the dakka dakka backpack went from almost completely useless to actually pretty good 👍changing the pen to medium and allowing us to reload from ammoboxes was very nice. I just wish it would shoot a little bit further out. Sometimes you have enemies right next to you and the targeting will not fire for some reason.
Well now that they have a toggle button for the backpacks, I find that toggling the pack on and off sometimes fixes the bug where they don't fire at nearby targets.
actually, on bot front, medium pen for GD almost a non buff, cuz it always does headshot Devas i even caught a moment it double kills rocket devas within 1 sec, dat I hadnt got time to move my gun on aim
The jump pack is a favorite of mine on the bot side. Being able to reach higher ground, or being able to reach outposts/ objectives from different angles is both fun and useful! The dog breath really needs a buff of some kind. I feel like it'll always be more useful on the bug side than the bots, so may as well double down on that. Increase the range of the spray and lengthen the duration. Have it so that as long as you have ammo, enemies can rarely touch/ target you
You can get 2 ressuplies from 1 ressuply pod pickup if you use your supply pack and then get the pickup, you get your supply pack usage back that way. Also, assuming you have space optimization, medic armor, stalwart, thermites and supply pack you basically have 12 Stalwart mags, 14 stims and 11 thermites, it's kinda nuts.
I wish more people would watch these videos. I cant tell you how many times I've played with randos who don't have a backpack and refuse/ignore my offer to give them a spare Supply Backpack when it's off cooldown. Even picking up an empty Supply Backpack is good because of democratic doubling from Supply Drops.
Supply packs are mostly a trap. Level 150. Played since launch. I pretty much only do full clear on highest difficulty. There’s TONS of supplies in levels. If you find you need more grenades, think about how you’re using them. If you need more stims think about why that is. If you need more ammo … think about why that is. There’s a TON of supplies in each level. There’s no need to farm reaches or drops for kills. No experience points per kill. No reason to kill anything you don’t have to. When you learn to manage your supplies you’ll find the supply pack is a wasted slot for MOST builds. If you’re playing with people who prefer no backpack at all, you should get into higher difficulties. 👍
@@zero11010 "No reason to kill anything you don’t have to." Yeah. It's called having fun by shooting shit. And my point was, as stated in my second sentence was for people who do not have a backpack. If you don't have a backpack, then there's no reason not to take one if offered. "If you need more ammo … think about why that is." Yeah. It's called having fun by shooting shit.
@ it’s a waste of time. You can finish a 40 minute difficulty 10 mission in fewer than 20 minutes full clear … every bug nest, every sub objective.. and move on to the next mission. In each mission you get to … have fun and shoot shit. Get it done and move on to the next. Sitting around killing things for no reason is just a waste of time. Get into the next mission and kill the critical stuff. I’m not saying avoid playing the game. I’m saying play it efficiently. Level 150 Helldiver. I’ve played since launch.
@@zero11010 Supply pack will gud if u really need to be aggro, spend more resources during certain fights but wew yea, not S, around A or B still fine, not necessory as long as we can eco our resource until the next supply call.
One thing to keep in mind when having the Shield vs bugs: it'll make your hitbox larger, therefore making it harder a bit to dodge the Chager's charge.
I love the ballistic shield personally. If they made it so that it wasn't for some unholy reason the ONLY combat-related item in the ENTIRE GAME that you just flat-out drop when you ragdoll... that one change would single-handedly make it a lot more viable imo. Add on a system that would allow you to look (not even aim, just look) in a different direction from the shield (so I can check to see if that Trooper behind me and to the left finally figured out that all of his shots were hitting a tree, offset that tunnel-vision thing), make it not the piece of carried equipment in the whole game that can be outright destroyed, make it act as a shield against melee attackers (maybe even doing a bit of stagger?), find a way to give it any point whatsoever when prone... there are a lot of things they could do to make it good, but the fact that throwing a stratagem and diving for cover can literally make you just flat-out drop your backpack stratagem with specifically this one item and no other is just atrocious.
I mean I guess but the video is made to also inform people on how other backpacks work. There are many caveats and important things to note in the video that you need to know if you’re gonna actually start caring about playing the game well. Also come on dude he put in a lot of work into the rest of the video.
Important note about Rover? While it says it uses the Scythe it's actually a separate Guard Dog variant that deals 200dps, 150 less than the actual Scythe which limits its power considerably.
For jumppack, you can shoot the commando & EAT while you’re lifting off. If you ADS for 1 second before you jump, your crosshairs will still be aimed at your target. Also works for quasar cannon too. And, if you’re feeling risky can hop over tanks and throw thermites above them.
2:50 I love the ballistic shield for the bots. Mostly, I carry an SMG (I didn't know the crossbow is one-handed), but I like to have the Senator as backup. Allows me to slowly advance on an angry Heavy Devastator, get right up in its face, and then one shot it in said face. Pro-top, make sure to carry a support weapon. This way, if you need to run away, switch to your support weapon. The shield will fold in and stay on your back, and it will still protect you from the rear. Only thing I don't like is that you can drop it if you get ragdolled and there's no indicator besides the backpack light quietly dissapearing from your HUD.
Used to pick between the shield pack, or guard dog in solo runs. But since I started using the jump pack I haven't used any of the other packs. Both on bugs and bot systems. Saved me from dying far more than the shield pack, get away from overwhelming enemies hunting me, and to be able to get to the extraction in time.💪
I'll never give up my jetpack, being able to move to cover in heavy armor, put turrets on high positions and get advantageous positions no one else can is great
I hope they add a backpack where you can have 2 backpacks equipped at the same time double jump jet pack before recharge, ballistic shield in front and on your back, more ammo for the spear or recoiless rifle, more durable shield generator, double turrets but it costs you a stratagem slot to equip the chassis for holding 2 backpacks.
The jump distance is dependent on your speed. Heavier armor means you’re slower and get less out of the jumps. It does help with the biggest problem with the armor. You’re using stamina booster and muscle enhancement from your team to minimize speed hits? Vitality and dead sprint are also a great combo. A single person with a stim pistol can negate the self damage from extra sprinting.
Very important thing to bring up: Support weapons with backpacks (autocannon comes to mind, I don't remember if some of the anti-tank launchers have a pack) Can't carry a pack with one of those.
I use jump pack for everything. I run light armor, Purifier, and plasma pistol with Quasar, so i need distance for a decent fight. I'm suppression fire/heavy killer for my squad, so getting to the high point gives me the ability to knock out the medium/heavier enemies with a well timed stagger shot. It also means i can take out a decent amount of small enemies if i see them grouped up. Since i am light armor, i can increase my survival rate when in a jam. With bugs, since they're (mostly) melee, i can jump away and charge my Purifier, then take out 1-2 advancing hunters, or up to 5 scavengers/acid spitters too. It also means i can jump away from bots into cover, but bots is where the jump pack runs into a problem. Bots can still aim accurately when you're in the air, so you can be taken out that way fairly easily. Overall, for my playstyle, jump pack is king. I would definitely agree with its ranking here.
The ballistic shield is still active on your back, so if you switch to your suport weapon while running away, you're covered from the waist up. Also the lower cool down cuts come up as a bonus rarely, but not never.
Super true. When running away you want to equip a two handed weapon to put the shield on your back to deflect attacks. It takes a bit to get used to. But, is laser fire is coming from behind you … get the shield behind you … and you don’t have to face them to do that.
I've been running with the laser guard dog for a long time, and honestly, the fecker does more friendly fire than a teammate that's out to troll you. For whatever reason the devs decided to make the guard dog lock in place to the right side of your screen, so when you move your camera the guard dog moves with your camera resulting in you getting in its cross fire when you're just trying to fire at enemies from different sides. After many hours of experience, seriously, just use the liberator guard dog if you need a companion. Because at least if you get friendly fired you wont burst into flame. I can go full pyro build and still catch on fire less than with a laser dog on "my side".
only change I would make to the list is that on bots, Dog Breath should be on C tier. It can lock down enemies like hulks and berzerkers that often times can sneak up on you since they make no noise. Yes you are better off with other backpack options, but when you get a "big bot" constellation or tons of berzerkers it can save your ass. I have even had it save my ass on bug front gassing chargers that snuck up on me and redirected their charge or stomps that would have otherwise killed me. that said, its not good if you are unlucky to get the tank or titan heavy constellations though.
As someone with hundreds of hours on the bug side i find jetpack basically to be a meme. Unless you are farming SC, in which case it speeds up rounds by a couple seconds. Also, was a huge fan of the laser, but nowadays it just kills teammates more consistantly than enemies. Kinda growing to love the normal guard dog right now, as it can easily deal with spewers and alphas and flyers, which are a concern with certain weapons, like the blitzer. Depends on the loadout.
*I love the combo of having a shield generator pack, run under a bike titan, throw a 500kg and then survive without taking any damage to yourself, while keeping the titan in the blast radius👍🏼👍🏼*
Most extraction zones have large rocks around them that are inaccessible.. Unless you have a jump pack. My favorite thing to do in the entire game is to essentially become immortal/invisible to all enemies by getting on top of these rocks while they aimlessly wander about the extraction zone. If they do notice you, bugs can't reach you and you can avoid bot fire by proning.
I personally think the Shield Generator Pack to be less useful vs the Bots than the Ballistic Shield in terms of being able to provide effective protection, especially when I actually need protection. You see, the shield bubble is MASSIVE, its hitbox extends quite a lot beyond the hitbox of a player's body. This means that it ends up taking hits all the time that wouldn't have even hit you in the first place, which results in it being broken and you having to wait for it to recharge much more often.
Refilling the supply pack ALSO tops off your ammo, stims and grenades as well. So whoever runs the pack should give away any supplies before calling in a resupply and then should pick up all called in supplies!
The jump pack gains more and more value the heavier your armor is, nothing like being able to flame an entire bug breach within a napalm barage with a salamander armor and then jump away at max speed the second you get too low on stim
someone people may see it some people may not while the dog breath drone is not a good bug killer maybe it’s a good way to hold the bug swarm off by taking advantage of the confusion by using the flamethrower on confused bugs it’ll be easier to kill them and have dog breath change targets because going to be constantly picking off the swarm with the flamethrower
Crazy that we don't have any new back packs but AH changes everything so often we see brand new tier lists over and over with the same gear. Bold plan.
I don't agree with the laser rover though, my main issue is the teamkilling and the laser just shooting randomly in perfect headshot-height when it changes targets or when you change position. Too many times I've had to use stims or even go down due to "field laser eye surgery".
I think if it’s hurting teammates turn it off while close to them. I feel like there have been some stealth changes to this though too it the laser used to catch me on fire or at least hurt me more and it seems to be smaller now
On its own "dog breath" is honestly pretty good in my experience. If you're running from a group of hunters/jumpers/horde it gives you a lot of breathing room to just sprint away. Additionally, it pairs AMAZINGLY with a full flame kit. Is it better than regular guard dog? Not by a long shot, but if your repin a shotty and need a backslot and want to try something diff for bugs i recommend.
I love using the jump pack on bots with heavy armor and one of the machineguns to reposition quickly. I also like to use the ballistic shield to cover teammates who are reloading
Guard Dog Penetrator is good if you want to rock something like the Tenderizer: having medium pen with a light pen (and a medium pen secondary) is reallllly nice. Also the jet pack against bots is S tier if you use it as something like a recon role. I've been going with a recon style build and I can traverse the map quickly, Chuck ordinance at Factories, and escape just as quickly. Setting up as overwatch for your teammates also help. Highly recommend pairing it with the Quasar Cannon and Counter Sniper rifle, you're a one man wrecking ball.
Last time I played this game was back in May, I gave up on the sample grind and basically ditched the game. Also was bored fighting the same two factions. BUT with the new faction out I needed to comeback. Your guides have been helpful in what I need. Glad some buffs to faves cameback. But we eventually need a list/guide for the Illuminate. Also since I’ve been gone has the sample grind gotten easier?
Try the dog breath with the flamethrower for bugs. It's the only weapon I found that actually pairs well with that rover because of its short range and lack of stagger vs certain enemies. They still need to rework the targeting on the dog breath tho, it's very inconsistent at times, but when it works, it's amazing.
I think it'd be cool if there was a universal Guard Dog that you or your squad could give a weapon. Let's say you can give it a Quasar and it just starts blowing holes in everything lol
It’s a trap item for new players. It’s an expensive crutch that supports bad habits and keeps players from getting better. Plenty of supplies in levels to do max level difficulty with no supply pack on the team.
the funny thing about divers who carry supply pack is like, people think they are meant for support role or they are expected to be but trust me, once all the stratagems are done called in, those mfs are going to be all walking killing machine with daredevil offense
Supply pack is a trap for new players. It’s really not that good. There are SO many supplies in the levels as it is. Wasting a back slot on one is one is funny. You need to resupply yourself four times for your build to work? And … you don’t think that’s a sign you’re doing something wrong?
Sundog is arguably better than the rover now it just cleans up trash an doesn't set you on fire like the rover. I use it with the halt shotgun all the time along side the quasar
dog breath should also change targets more. It abides by the same rules as the other guard dogs but without the damage or range. It should have its niche by changing targets more often.
After playing for so long, Guard dog rover should be in P tier for PooPoo. Normal guard dog A or B personally. So much friendly fire and when you climb a slight hill it labotomizes you
Level 150. I pretty much only do full clear on the highest difficulty. You don’t know what you’re talking about. If you die to a guard dog more than once in a level you’re doing something wrong. You can finish difficulty 10 with a guard dog or rover on the whole time with zero total deaths. There IS skill involved in using it. There are things you need to learn to keep it from hitting you.
if you know how to use the jump pack on bots, it can be S tier easily (jump behind a tank or hulk to kill it, drop an airstrike and jump away, generally jump into cover - VERY handy)
Standard guard dog did not sit around so much before Jet Brigade 2.0 released. I suspect there was some kind of tweaking done. When the first Brigade rolled through, the dog eliminated without hesitation. Maybe when it was given the ability to send out and recall? For Bugs this should be A tier
The recall button did change it abit. It was abit finicky for me when playing with a controller. The recall button is bound to the bottom d pad which also happens to be the support weapon so for awhile I would question why the dog would be sitting there despite me having ammo.
I solo'd 2 whole Terminid diff 10 with Liberator Guarddog (with MG206 and Tenderizer), one yesterday with the enemy constellation that favors Alpha Commanders ( a lot of Brood Warrior spawns), and one a while back with the Bile enemy constellation (it which it performed a lot better). and I'm gonna have to say, personally, I think it deserves S or at least high A. I've even attempted the exact same mission with the same Alpha Commander constellation with Rover as well, and while the infinite laser-shooting is grea, the targetting can be pretty troll, not focusing on the enemies it needs to focus on, and dps is wayyy lower than Liberator Guard dog that it feels like it doesn't do anything most of the times, I turn around and everytime there are gazillion Brood Warriors chasing me, because Rover doesn't kill them fast enough, let alone Alpha Commanders Liberator Guard dog just clears groups of Brood Warriors real fast, which gave me a lot of breathing room, but you also have to be mindful at times, because of the reloads. So if anything, I personally think Liberator Guard Dog and Rover deserve at least to be on the same level right next to each other, on high A at least. Personally I don't even think shield generator backpack deserves A tier now, especially now that Hunters got that pounce proximity check nerf, and the fact that it basically gives you a bigger hit-box to be flung away by Chargers and Stalkers, now that they can ragdoll you by hitting the shield dome. If you know what you're doing, shield generator backpack isn't really that great now, it's still good, but it deserves like high B at best. Not quite sure why Jetpack is on S tier tbh, I love Jetpack, but it's still Jetpack, you just fly around. I love it whenever I use my MG206 to reload while flying, also to avoid Chargers and such, but that's about it. Amazing mind you, but I think it's low/mid A. But Jetpack is pretty dependent on your loadout, so it's more or less flexible. It's absolutely amazing for MG206. Supply Pack definitely deserves its spot, it's just the goat, and helps round out a lot of loadouts.
I would probably rate the Shield Gen Pack opposite of what you have here... S for bugs and A for Bots heres why... Bugs have a few enemy types that have an acid burn stagger effect such as Bile Spewers, Bile titans and even the dreaded Hunter. This shield negates this stagger possibly saving your live. But as for the bots, fighting enemies such as the rocket devastators hampers your gameplay because the shield is essentially a much larger hit box. This results in possibly being hit more often and of course being ragdolled more often...Honestly didnt know that you could reload MG43 as you fly with the jetpack, need to go on the game and try this.
I usually take it everywhere, but come to think of it, the bots grazing it is probably a bad thing. It is absolutely S tier for bugs though. The real strength of it is having the only real flinchproof effect in the game, since the new warbond armor sure as hell won't give you that.
Oh man the gundog is S for the bugs for me. The medium pen means it’s so good at killing hive guards and will easy kill any hunters sneaking up on you. It’s like having another squaddie.
Ballistic shield needs a rework. No other backpack stratagem else in game is completely non-functional against an entire faction. Everything does something, except for the BS. It’s also the only piece of equipment that can be outright destroyed.
Spend more time with it on bots. Use it with the crossbow. Focus on just the ballistic shield and crossbow. It’s incredibly effective. The amount of damage it prevents is insane. It’s effective in your hands. It’s effective on your back while you have a support weapon equipped. It doesn’t take being blown up well. But, the time to call in another is very short (about a third of the time to call in a support weapon).
Supply backpack will always be the best backpack in the entire game, it is a veritable swiss army knife of a backpack, will literally make any build viable Pro tip: when you finish your backpack, no need to call in a resupply, just call in a fresh backpack that is stocked instead, making you go through 40 min missions without calling in any resupplies
I play only in level 10 mostly with bots and half of the time solo, and I always take the jump pack, I can infiltrate any base or climb mountains and take'em from a far with the quasar, in fact taking bases from a far from a mountain with the quasar is so easy that most times I avoid it to make the game harder, I'll put it in s tier easily
The shield should block melee attacks of terminids and after takes enough damage the shield can be broken and you need to call for other one. I think it need a buff
On bugs … wear the guard dog. Focus on facing. People complain about deaths from the pack. Keep enemies on your right side. There’s a little skill involved. Pick up ammo in levels. There is a TON. This will also keep you full on stims and grenades. You’ll see up to 8 spare magazines on your pack. If you get down to 4 start looking for ammo. If you see an ammo pack on the ground … pick it up. It’ll never run out even on difficulty 10. The pack will handle shriekers, littles, and mediums. It will be worth HUNDREDS of kills per level. The pack lets you focus on other targets. Lets you focus on using your EAT or quasar on heavies. Lets you focus on objectives. On bugs wear light stim armor. Quasar. Crossbow. Thermite grenades. Redeemer/dagger/verdict/purifier pistol. Bring machinegun sentry, guard dog, quasar, Eagle airstrike. Call in the sentry on cooldown. Placement matters. It’s a skill you’ll build. Quasar, thermite, airstrike on heavies. Crossbow, airstrike on bug holes. Thermite in a pinch but it’s not a good use. Machinegun, airstrike, crossbow on breaches. But, never fight a breach if you don’t have to. You don’t get XP for kills. You’ll get 2X - 3X more kills than anyone else on your team (no farming needed). You’ll take out three targets at a time (sentry, pack, yourself). Top priority is heavies with your quasar. Thermite for extra chargers that show up at the same time. Jump pack is fun. Can’t compete with the capabilities of other equipment for handling hordes.
@ I reread it and realized it’s suggesting a lot of warbond stuff that you may not have as a new player. The core should still work for you. Without the crossbow that’ll make things harder. The crossbow is wildly over powered. It’s basically 65 grenades that you can place accurately. Opens containers, closes holes, takes out patrols of littles and effectively takes out mediums and smaller heavies. Frag grenade if you don’t have thermite. Those are also over powered. HUGE surface area and 5 grenades instead of 4 to better handle bug holes. Run a quasar if you can. If not use the EAT. The quasar works for bug holes in a pinch. With the EAT pretty much call them in on cooldown. Even if you don’t need it. Just get them on the map. Never leave both in the pod. Leave one on the ground. Either shoot the pod to put both on the ground (wastes a little ammo) or pick one up to get it on your back, then pick up the other to drop it. If you already have one on your back just pick up one to drop one on the ground. The goal is to get them to show up on map and one on the ground will do that. Quasar is also best for opening containers. Don’t waste a grenade. Machine gun sentry you have. Practice with it. 80m of range is huge. Avoid putting it next to you. Throw it 30-50m away. It’s better if it’s not at your elevation. Put it high or low. You don’t want it shooting through you to take out a target. Light medical armor is one you have to buy with super credits. Medical armor is the strongest for bugs and speed is king so you want light armor. Try light padded armor or light grenade armor. For your primary take any weapon with medium armor pen. They’re not all equal. Your pack, secondary, and sentry are for littles. The pack, sentry and primary should work for mediums. Your quasar or EAT for heavies. Practice throwing the Eagle airstrike at different bug lairs. It’ll take out between 2-5 bug holes by itself. It’s also effective on breaches and heavies (and gets WAY better as you upgrade your ship).
@@andrewsnyder9241 a quick suggestion to optimize bug lairs … open with an Eagle airstrike. That will kill things in the area and should close 2-3 bug holes. This gets the cooldown going so you can call in another. Then quasar a hole (or take out a heavy with it). Get the quasar on cooldown to get it ready quickly. It recharges, so it’s a free way to take out a hole. Then switch to grenades. Take out 5 more (that’s 2-3 with airstrike, 1 quasar, then 5 from grenades). That should be enough to get airstrike and quasar ready. That can be used to take out 2-3 more bug holes. That should let you handle a 10 hole bug hole nest by yourself without needing to call in supplies. You should be trying to hit points of interest as much as you can. This is how you get super credits to buy things without spending real money. While you’re there … pick up ammo and grenades and stims. This gets you ready for the next lair without needing to call in supplies (and without needing a supply pack). Practice a bit with the quasar. You can take out a bug hole from pretty far away, but the angle matters. It takes a while to build up the skill. For example … you can close most of a 10 hole nest from the outside without having to set foot inside (with an eruptor, or crossbow, or grenade launcher). Not everything will close a bug hole. Cluster won’t. Napalm won’t. 500k does it but you get fewer than air strikes. Precision orbital will. 120mm and 380mm will. Walking barrage will. Can’t really aim barrages. Straffing run will do it now (but airstrike is more versatile).
@@zero11010thanks again!! The only warbond I’ve unlocked is actually the one with the crossbow since it looked really fun, so I’m working my way towards that. The rest of the advice is also great. I never thought to put weapons on the ground so I could find them again, but that’s a great tip. Luckily I’ve got a few friends who have played for a while, so they give me lots of tips when we dive.
I will agree that the shield generator pack is good for bots, but at the same time I avoid it a lot of the time due to the fact it increases your hitbox. I try not to get into prolong open fire fights with the bots so a lot of the time my shield is getting worn down by random pot shots that would have missed me otherwise. It takes damage I otherwise wouldn't have taken anyways, wearing it down and making it not last as long when I really need it. The Ballistic shield is just proof that yes, some gear isn't as good as others for the different factions, but the fact it's just useless for the bugs makes it almost worthless in most player's eyes. Maybe if bile wasn't classified as explosive damage it would hold up better and actually might be worth taking.
I almost don't use anything other than the supply pack when playing, and honestly I don't get how I'm usually the only one running it, I can't stand running out of ammo
For me, every dive I go with Jump Pack for bugs and Ballistic Shield for bots. Personally I feel like the rovers and shield generator are too much of a crutch and make things too easy. Plus nothing puts hair on your chest like charging a factory strider with heavy armor and a ballistic shield up. I’ve held back bot drops back to back on difficulties 8 and up with the shield/crossbow combo with a HMG secondary. Makes me feel like a one man army lol.
Maining a supply pack is two sides of the same coin: You're either a support diver/combat medic, or you're a one man death machine
Or you're just a greedy hoarding blue falcon
I actually main it , but i never say No to someone who needs supply
I always run a grenade launcher and supply pack both on bugs and bot, and it works wonders, I always get a minimum of 200+ kills on missions. The grenade launcher is a severely underrated weapon especially for horde clearing, I call it the "fuck that general direction" gun. Bringing the supply pack with it ensures you always have ammo to rain down on your enemies, and by the time your pack is empty the supply pack stratagem is ready again.
@rain8767 you'll always have ammo bc you hoard it from everyone else 😂
I may have an HMG but my supplies are for my team when they need it
Playing a supply pack main:
“Come back…! Let me resupply you! VALIDATE MY PLAY STYLE DAMN YOU!!!!”
*Brings up voice line wheel*
"Hold position"
While you frantically sprint to them trying to be the support role.
@ then have to awkwardly grind against them trying to get the resupply prompt.
I chase them for 5 seconds saying hold position.
It’s on them if they don’t stop to except my supply’s
My favorite is when they finally stop and you hear em shout “throwing supply beacon!”
@@devonl.7010 that's when you give them supplies and take from the beacon. Filling you and your pack. That's why it's definitely my favorite backpack.
In my limited experience, the laser Guard Dog seems to do a lot of friendly fire.
Yes. You have to play safe and position yourself in group so you won't fry your whole squad but it's really powerful with bugs
Because the rover has a "spool-up" time when it starts to fire, its programmed to continue firing when changing targets.
You can make sure to tell the dog to stay still on your back if you are too close to teammates and have it on attack when you have some distance
I noticed a significantly lessened amount of deaths caused from the Laser Rover when I started wearing armor with the Inflammable Perk.
It usually kills you when you are on high ground.
Agreed!
The ttk on the bullet buddy is so much shorter than the laser buddy. If you stay on your toes, focus on heavies, you dont even have to worry about mid/low tier bugs.
Yeah but the laser is good because you know where the enemy is coming from
I think it’s VERY clear he’s got extremely limited experience with the guard dog packs after the balance passes a month or so ago.
Don't forget the ability to get above spores and find the spewer with the jump pack.
Gundog actually good? Holy shit. Is that for solo or squad?
@@FelisImpurrator for both, its actually incredible
Gundog is almost perfect. I wish you could set it to not fire at things it can't damage, like Hulk or Tanks. It shreds a group of enemy easily if it has full ammo. The other 3 slots can be focused on the anti-tank strategems easily.
@@FelisImpurrator they buffed it to have the Liberator Pen instead of the default Liberator. So yeah, it's actually good.
@@FelisImpurratorIt was heavily buffed in the megapatch. Definitely C Tier or Poop Tier before the buff.
The AR dog tend to kill berserkers and devastators quick with their aim for headshots
gun dog is certainly better than laser dog these days, no question there
Now I want an arc dog. Concussive would probably be OP, and fire would probably just kill helldivers almost exclusively. But a Thunderdog? Imagine being able to just have a little flying guy stunlock hunters for you.
Thunderdog sounds awesome
"Arc dog" for the love of democracy and freedom don't give them any ideas, the laser guard dog is already a team killing machine, this idea will bring tk ratings to a hundred.
We could even expand on the dog family with something like a Flamedog
It’s clear he hasn’t spent much time with it.
He just doesn’t have much experience with it.
Oh damn, that sounds like a really fun loadout!
Same for Thermites. Stun, Toss your Thermite at them, then stun lock until it explodes.
You're better off using bubble shield backpack
I would like to mention that picking up supplies not only resupplies your personal ammo, but also one slot for the supply backpack. in essence, you get double the supplies.
Not mentioned in video - If you have ballistic shield backpack and are holding a 2-handed weapon, then shield it goes on your back and it actually protects you from that direction.
Great call out.
It doesn’t seem like he uses most of these very much.
I have actually opted to use it for exactly this and it's noticable.
@@ElBromoHojo for sure. It’s important to get into the habit of switching to your support weapon when running with bots to your back.
That’s assuming you’re using something like the crossbow as your primary to make max usage out of the shield.
I'll use the shield with the arc thrower so my back is always guarded and I don't need to swap weapons
I like pairing it with quasar cannon and fly around taking out outposts with infinite ammo
Ye or fly into base, plant bomb and fly out.
Speed kills
Jump pack always S tier
it breaks the limit of game - running
this video just silly, unskilled. dats all
I know this is true for me- honestly I’d assume it’s true for most people watching this video.
I know what I like, and what I’ll bring but I still love watching these Tier lists just for fun.
Sometimes taking doodoo weapons is fun.
Yeah ranking them is fun but isn’t the most important thing. I think it’s more a good excuse to discuss the pros and cons of where things are at
8:51 you get a glimpse of the 4th dimension
I would also like to say the Jump Pack gives you the same speed in heavy armor as in light armor when going from place to place, making you much more mobile in the fight AND having more survivability, not as important for the bugs but very important for the bots. This allows you to shrug off most anti infantry fire while also being one of the faster loadouts in the game
Usually I would agree, but the new medium armour with anti-flinch is superior vs. the bots.
Random tips for each backpack:
SEEMS LIKE YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO RE-RE-RE-RERANK EVERYTHING AGAIN MY FRIEND
it's funny how the dakka dakka backpack went from almost completely useless to actually pretty good 👍changing the pen to medium and allowing us to reload from ammoboxes was very nice. I just wish it would shoot a little bit further out. Sometimes you have enemies right next to you and the targeting will not fire for some reason.
Agreed!
Well now that they have a toggle button for the backpacks, I find that toggling the pack on and off sometimes fixes the bug where they don't fire at nearby targets.
actually, on bot front, medium pen for GD almost a non buff, cuz it always does headshot Devas
i even caught a moment it double kills rocket devas within 1 sec, dat I hadnt got time to move my gun on aim
Have it so that as long as you have ammo, enemies can rarely touch/ target you
In low visibility missions, the Laz guard dog is great for showing you where the bugs are in the heavy fog or sand
I’m saying play it efficiently.

nothing feels more immersive than smokes with the ballistic shield and leading a stack into a heavy outpost. i love that thing against bots
One thing to keep in mind when having the Shield vs bugs: it'll make your hitbox larger, therefore making it harder a bit to dodge the Chager's charge.
It helps you out so much otherwise, so I would say that it's irrelevant
Good to see more content, wouldn’t have thought to rank backpacks tbh but still informative, keep it up
Video starts at 16:26
Backpack is God's gift to helldivers
How did you know this is what I came for?
I love you videos bro 🙏 I will be patiently waiting for the Grenade, Eagle, Orbital, Booster, and Armor Tier lists.
The Jetpack is amazing if you are a Stealth Diver or a Heavy Armor Diver.
A single person with a stim pistol can negate the self damage from extra sprinting.
with the supply pack you can call it in if he normal resupply is on cool down, very handy for the rest of the team
Very important thing to bring up: Support weapons with backpacks (autocannon comes to mind, I don't remember if some of the anti-tank launchers have a pack)
Can't carry a pack with one of those.
Something missed about the ballistic shield is that it can function while on your back. Makes retreating less dangerous.
Is pooplove like, a description? does this guy love poop? Or is it like the name gaylord where people just go "oh, well that's unfortunate".
Hes the loathsome dung eater
someone people may see it some people may not while the dog breath drone is not a good bug killer maybe it’s a good way to hold the bug swarm off by taking advantage of the confusion by using the flamethrower on confused bugs it’ll be easier to kill them and have dog breath change targets because going to be constantly picking off the swarm with the flamethrower
I've died many times due to my bot detonating my grenade the moment I throw it.
The ballistic shield had a major buff with melee attacks
Can you make “ranking the best and worst grenades in helldivers 2” i really enjoy these videos
The sterilizer I found to be perfect on bugs… it saved me hundreds of times from chargers and stalkers
The Gundog rover is a headshot machine against bots, particularly devastators and berserkers.
The amount of Halo I played has me clutching the shield backpack. Works with my muscle memory
7:05 and the fact it headshots quite often. Rating deserved.
I think the supply pack is straight up goated. You're either the best friend in a squad, or an absolute death machine.
It’s a trap item for new players. It’s an expensive crutch that supports bad habits and keeps players from getting better.
Plenty of supplies in levels to do max level difficulty with no supply pack on the team.
the funny thing about divers who carry supply pack is like, people think they are meant for support role or they are expected to be
but trust me, once all the stratagems are done called in, those mfs are going to be all walking killing machine with daredevil offense
Support backpack doesnt have stims?
I wish there was a flamethrower variant of the Guard Dog, and it has to be called the Hot Dog
There are things you need to learn to keep it from hitting you.
if you know how to use the jump pack on bots, it can be S tier easily
(jump behind a tank or hulk to kill it, drop an airstrike and jump away, generally jump into cover - VERY handy)
I want to see a jar 5 dominator guard dog variant and a pls 1 scorcher variant
I'd want a Blitzer/Arc Thrower variant. Just stun lock the hell out of enemies close by.
How do I resupply myself with the supply backpack?
Standard guard dog did not sit around so much before Jet Brigade 2.0 released. I suspect there was some kind of tweaking done. When the first Brigade rolled through, the dog eliminated without hesitation.
Maybe when it was given the ability to send out and recall? For Bugs this should be A tier
The recall button did change it abit. It was abit finicky for me when playing with a controller. The recall button is bound to the bottom d pad which also happens to be the support weapon so for awhile I would question why the dog would be sitting there despite me having ammo.
How do you turn the guard dog to sleep mode? I’ve been wondering for a while and can’t seem to find anything on it. Thanks in advance!
On PC it's 5, same button as using supplies from worn supply backpack.
I've even attempted the exact same mission with the same Alpha Commander constellation with Rover as well, and while the infinite laser-shooting is grea, the targetting can be pretty troll, not focusing on the enemies it needs to focus on, and dps is wayyy lower than Liberator Guard dog that it feels like it doesn't do anything most of the times, I turn around and everytime there are gazillion Brood Warriors chasing me, because Rover doesn't kill them fast enough, let alone Alpha Commanders
Liberator Guard dog just clears groups of Brood Warriors real fast, which gave me a lot of breathing room, but you also have to be mindful at times, because of the reloads.
😅😅

I used to use the guard dogs a lot until I realized it was alerting a lot of enemies to my position when trying to stay hidden
You can call them back now when you need to he stealthy.
Supply Pack and Quasar, the Shield Generator Relay, and a Rocket Sentry. My "don't worry, we've got this" build for Bots
Supply backpack will always be the best backpack in the entire game, it is a veritable swiss army knife of a backpack, will literally make any build viable
Pro tip: when you finish your backpack, no need to call in a resupply, just call in a fresh backpack that is stocked instead, making you go through 40 min missions without calling in any resupplies
is helldivers easier on ps5 than pc? because these missions on helldive look a lot easier than my missions on extreme
I find myself too dependent on the shield backpack now. It allows me to wear medium armor and get out of sticky situations most of the time.
Nothing beats Jumppack, nothing. This is objectively correct. You can do everything with jumppack
Eyy you did the jumpack reload thing :D !!!
As a new player, I absolutely love the jump pack and have a hard time sacrificing it for any other backpack gear.
@ thanks for the tips!!
5:43 please reword that 😭
Agree 100%. Tier list approved ✅
The jetpack should be higher for the bots, pair it with something like the machine gun and reload midair to stay mobile.
I dont think ive ever used the ballistic shield as the shield generator backpack outclasses it in every way.
Something that bothers me is that I have to do the backpack shuffle with the resupply pack
(So that people get stuns and nades)
