  • Is your pastor toxic? If so, you'll experience church hurt in his/her ministry if you haven't already.
Borrowing from Thom S. Rainer's list of toxic leadership signs, I'm expounding on seven characteristics of unhealthy apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.
If you have been hurt by a toxic pastor, you may not want to step foot into a church again. Check out our in-depth prophetic teaching and deliverance series at www.ahop.tv.

This destroyed my marriage and family. 2 years ago we were all restored !!!! We don’t go to church anymore. We put God first in our home. Just not church and ministry.

People are leaving the church at an alarming rate. Church abuse used to get overlooked. But, I’m thankful, that it’s now getting exposed.
“Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭7:48‬ ‭KJV‬‬
People feel like, they have to belong to a church or be in a build, to have a relationship with God. That’s not true. God dwells within us. You can be home, in your car, at work, etc and still build your relationship with him. People, stop allowing these fake prophets to abuse, manipulate, and mind control you for their own good.

Thank you Jennifer for being brave enough to speak out about this issue in the church. Where I come from no one wants to speak about this or even start a process of trying to improve things for fear of being retaliated against especially from the piplit. If we do then it is labeled as rebellion and you are then assused of having a Jezebel spirit. I have seen our youth and others in the church suffer and some have even left the church all together. As for me and my daughter, we had to make the choice to leave and be restored from the abuse we received. We were labels are quitters, rebellious, full of demons, witches, Jezebles, not worthy and worth nothing.
It is a topic I am really passionate about and if effects more people than I think we realize but no one wants to bring it to the light and deal with it. Thank you again for taking this issue head on. It has really helped me to put things in more of a better perceptive and not be bitter or angry about what happened to me and my daughter.
    God bless you.

    • @SuperPalomino123
      @SuperPalomino123 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Hi your comment spoke to me. Im sorry you and your daughter had to go through church abuse. It can be very insidious and undercover and many times overlooked until you notice a pattern. Many times the church leaders themselves will create a toxic church environment through favoritism, elitism , gossip, and even public shaming of a particular person they disapprove of. They do this to make themselves look better and feel more powerful, and do not realize that they're hurting the person they decided is not a true Chris follower. They encourage that spirit of gossip by tolerating it and creating it in the guise of trying to help or guide. A toxic leader will never display the fruit of the spirit but instead walk in the flesh (pride, self righteous, debasing others in a so subtle form). And then point the finger at the victim who after awhile will walk away as she is not being built up but torn down and ignored, labeling her as demonic with a jezebels spirit, adding see I told you so she's not really saved! God wants us to forgive and be tender hearted, overlooking offenses, but I also believe He does not want us to associate with a condemning and religious church because it is not of His Spirit of love. Unfortunately too many pastors are not held accountable because they successfully manipulate others, and do many good works and so they think they're walking in love.

Then there are Christians on the opposite end of issues...Reminds me of Laura Daigle. We need to sincerely pray for her. She seems to think love is without taking a stand to edify our neighbor. Christians are not supposed to be hateful. However, we are to be loving and uplifting and edifying in an constructive way. I don’t want to bash her. Let us pray for her and the gay community. Hate is a repellent. Love helps to open doors of communication for bridges and growth. God bless

You sin differently than them. What sins do you do that no one can see??? It's none of your business. Unfortunately, the sins that people can see are the ones that get looked at in church, but the ones that you can hide don't get accounted for and you get away with it. That's hypocritical Regina. I'm tired of hypocrites in churches everywhere that only point out certain sins.

    • @IvyOrtizfl

@@PURPLE.REIGN.1999 Unfortunately, she is correct. If you knowingly place someone who lives in continuous sin and doesn't repent and correct their situation, that's "hidden sin". The bad thing about it is that if you *know* someone is commiting a certain sin and you do not correct them, the bible teaches you partake in their sin as well.

Favoritism was so bad in my Church that the pastor ignored when one of his favorite people's son molested a child that belonged to people that didn't have as much favor! This led to a huge division in the church! Which also led to God's judgement against the favored people when their son flipped his car and died instantly just a few years later!

I usedt to go to a church where the pastors practiced favoritism to an extreme. I noted that they were "johnny on the spot" when one of their favorites were in trouble or needed them. They were favored when it came to chatting after services, etc. Some time ago, I would up going to the hospital for a near terminal case of pancreatitis. It was a near thing. There were three witnesses who saw me loaded into an ambulance, one of them was one of the pastors. There were enough people who did know that someone could have been there. The only one that showed up was the man I begged to feed my cat. I nearly died in that hospital, but noone showed up other than the man I mentioned. I never spoke to anyone else the entire time I was there and even in the three weeks afterwards. To me they demonstrated that they could not care less whether or not I lived or died. Even afterward, I saw the same demonstrations of love and compassion towards their favorites. I tried a number of times to bring this to the pastor's attention as it was killing me inside. To see this contradiction played out day after day crippled my ability to worship or have any fellowship with them at all. In my entire life, I never saw anything like this first hand. As I mentioned, i tried to talk to the pastor a number of times, but was never given an audience. In the end, be blasted me in front of his congregation. Since then, i have found it incredibly difficult to go to any church.

A pastor is toxic when he/she
    1. Lacks the fruit of the Holy Spirit
And only bears fruits of the flesh (carnal desire)
    2. has No Accountability
    (No submission to Christ)
    3. is a Hypocrite
    4. has Pride Issues (Arrogant, Stubborn, Haughty, Critics (false), etc )
considers others as inferiors and is highly negative critics
    5. favours only few (the favoured people are not corrected when they make mistakes) and abandons others (causes rejection to others).
    6. has Frequent Anger (Rage/ Passive Aggression) Outburst
    7. is a Liar (falsely accuses, gives wrong message, slanders, gossips, etc)

It's amazing how accurate you are in this video about those toxic traits! It is 100% true and easy to spot once you wake up from the mind control they put on you especially if you are vulnerable already and were hurt or felt broken at the point when you joined their 'cult'

So true! They have a way of affecting your mind, definitely! Same experience here. Took me years to see through it, & get past the fear of leaving them. But it's the best thing I ever did. I'm also very pleased that one former leader is now unable to crotch-grab in front of me, touch me up sexually, or give me 'Penis Displays' (in a seated position, pushing his pelvis outwards, showing dimensions of a certain sexual member) through his trousers, while sitting talking to me. Must really irritate him some days, not having his target victim, as I call it, to play with. The old bastard's married too, & was a senior pastor at the time. Unbelievable what these freaks get up to!.

Gosh, I just want all of us to be saved and spend eternity with God. I wish no Christian church would cause pain or mistreat people. Unfortunately, we all hurt each other, but that’s why we need God’s Word for correction, His Holy Spirit, and we have to see fruit that shows we truly know God and obey Him. Also, if I hurt someone, spending time with God, I can’t help but see where I’m wrong. I don’t want to continue hurting someone or continue in the same actions that are causing pain. If I Love God and I Love the person I can see, I’m going to want to change and seek to not hurt whoever I may be hurting. Leaders should have this same desire and be careful how they speak and treat everyone.
    And one more thing:
Jesus said you can tell tree by the fruit it bears. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot produce good fruit.
So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.”
    Please read Matthew 7
Walk with God everyday and have a relationship with Him. It’s all through Jesus.

Why not? Especially if the pastor's name on the title and deed of the church property. Churchgoers are expected to pay ten percent of their income to the church (which is not Biblical), plus offerings and clean the joint?

Oh My, this is Prophetic for me because I was asking God to speak to me regarding this issue. I even prayed that I get a prophetic direction this week because I plan to come to your event in Atlanta. I am sort of New to submitting to a small church but I don't think all small churches are as controlling and controversial as the one I am attending now. I am certain I want to leave but I also felt guilty because I just joined few months ago. I also keep on hearing the Pastor/Apostle speak or rather say reprimand some of us are church hopping etc. He is constantly disciplining the congregation, even saying that some are into gossip or how tardy most of them are, you name it. At the same time, I like his dedication to serving in deliverance and prayers but I am confused. I know I don't want to be part of it but I was wondering how to exit since I am a member already (how I was pushed to sign up to become a member is another story)
I also heard many preach how we should submit and tolerate authority in church lately so that brought a conflict.
    God bless you !

Jesus and the whole Bible tells us about these people and how we should handle every situation that we will face in this life. Always put God first, lean not on your own understanding and trust Him. He already won!! We already won!! The devil is a defeated foe. If you following the Lord, you will always win, even when it looks like you’re losing.

My wife and kids and I are not going back to the institutional church. We are actively seeking out the Lords people. If we find them inside the institutional church then that’s ok. We aren’t Lone Rangers. We were accused of it though because though we have been part of the same church for 5 years as a family while my wife was there for 28 years. We didn’t want to formally join and covenant with and sign a legal document. The pastor criticized us openly in front of the whole congregation and referred to us as consumers (even though multiple times we freely gave money and gave of our photography talents) and called us Lone Rangers and called us disobedient and sinning. Because we wouldn’t sign and covenant and be bound to unbiblical vows.
We haven’t found a church group that didn’t have poor leadership.
We don’t want to be without leaders.
    We aren’t against leadership.
I felt hurt and anger and these are difficult things to deal with.
We were told we had to submit and obey per Hebrews 13:17 or leave.
