    One thing I learned while killing Barnabas that seems important, is that apparently if you use a buff while it's already active, there's a 15% chance of the buff leveling up. This got me killed a couple times until I asked around, since it can cause your next Ghostwalkers to overwrite without you realizing.

    My first taste of infinite overdrive was with a photo Saber and Gatling gun build. With TPXX and Overdrive PV XII. Mainly because I wanted to simulate a light Saber duel with a certain wrothian.

    Really great video! A couple of other small tips for this build (or really any build) that helped me get started:
    - During the animation of ghostwalker you are totally invincible, so if an enemy has an art with lots of hits, try to time your ghostwalker press right then. You’ll be invincible for their art, and it won’t chew through all your decoys. There are also a few enemies with attacks that go through decoy (although they are really rare) which will take a lot more planning
    - If you’re still struggling to keep the overdrive going, equipping one or two Arts: Gain TP augments could really go a long way
    - Overdrive count up augments can also help a lot early when it comes green/blue arts increasing the timer and purple arts giving you TP. They help a surprising amount when you’ve got a high count, meaning it’s easier to keep things going and can use your TP for damaging arts more often
    - You’ll gain double the overdrive count after on your next art after using a green art, so if it works out try to fit in sliding slinger then
    - Pay attention to your arts’ animations and effects. With primer, for example, if you use another art before your animation finishes, you won’t end up getting your TP

      Thanks and feel free to leave as much advice as you want. I'm sure it'll end up helping someone.
      I completely forgot to show this. It was on my fecking list as well. Was gonna add text stating as such. I guess thats what 72 hours worth of work on 10 hours of sleep does to ya 😂
      I avoided talking about Augments and traits in this video as I think its one massive can of worms and if I open it, then I'd be there for a while discussing the best potential ones to have and add. This is defo important for the late game and after game but I didn't want to talk about it in this video designed for earlier play.
      Again like before I didn't want to talk to much about these. I got lucky on my recent playthrough and got one for blue arts (Aura's) but others aren't necessarily going to get that and I don't wanna get people grinding for it. I'd just use Phantom Counter in its place, I never used it myself but I now wish I had with how effective it could have been.
      Put this on when all the colours scrolled by but yea very helpful indeed.
      I was going to include this but the vid was already pretty long so I skipped it. I got this a lot with Ghostwalker and not getting my Decoys by cancelling it with overdrive but never with primer. I also thought you could only cancel arts with the activate overdrive button? I didn't think you could select an another art to quickly?

      I remember thinking how funny it was that the game essentially has a dodge button once you use overdrive with this exploit(?). Hoping they don't mess with this set up for the rerelease

    I already knew how to use the overdrive, but the only thing I didn't know was that the ghostwalker only avoids a fixed amount of hits and it doesn't work if you use it with a lower art level than the previous one, that explains why a group of monsters kills me in a matter of seconds XD. Good video btw

    • @JBspherefreak
      @JBspherefreak  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Well I'm glad I was able to help you in this are anyway 😊 another thing I didn't mention in the video is that you evade all attacks whilst the animation plays and this doesn't cost you your decoys so try to time your activation for when they are gonna attack to save yourself extra decoys 👍

    Slight Correction for something at the end of the Video; Buffs/Debuffs/Auras cap at lvl 6, there is no level 7. For buffs and Debuffs you can't _usually_ go past lvl 5 with Cooldown Bonuses as well, but you can go to lvl 6 with Auras on the Secondary Cooldown. Tertiary cooldown on lvl 5 Aura is effective the same as Secondary as such and in turn only increases the Aura's Duration by another 20 seconds.
    Edit: Because of this lvl 6 buffs are counted like they're 2 lvl increases instead of 1 (sort of, it's a little more complicated than that, but this explanation's easier).

    My first infinite overdrive was with the sniper/shield combo. Wasn't my favorite after trying other builds, but was definitely fun being able to support others during global nemesis runs.
    Now every time I unlock overdrive on a new run, I use Alexa on the Grex horde outside the beasts lair just to test out how easy it can be getting infinite early game without dual guns/ghostwalker.

  • @elkhaqelfida5972

    Once you mastered overdrive, it is really easy with your main character. Especially after you got several XX augments.
    So now what I like to do is doing infinite overdrive with each playable character.
    It's more challenging and fun. The hardest part is how to keep them alive without decoy/ evasion arts.

    Main issue of infinite overdrive is that not all classes can perform it easily starting chapter 5.
    Most of the playerbase went toward longsword + assault riffle or Photon Saber + Psy Guns in their first playthrough, two class that are extremely bad at infinite overdrive ( especially photon saber).
    Nobody plays javelin + sniper or shield + mini gun, but those two classes also struggle at maximum overdrive but they are better at it than the two above.
    Meanwhile Full Metal Jaguar is by far the easiest one to do it with, triple green art with two giving tps ( Ghostwalker/Primer/Blood Sacrifice ) the best purple art ( side slash can be immediatly reused twice ) and great skills, ho also the class has great count generation.
    But almost nobody plays that class cuz it's the class of Elma.
    The final class is Dagger + Raygun, this class can infinite overdrive early and performs greatly even without overdrive which makes it quite often the best choice for true beginners.

    On the off chance of getting a reply on this 2 year old vid. I'm very confused at the part about Arts levelling up. This sounds super crucial to the Ghostwalk strat that this has to be explained further.
    So the first time @12:22 says you used a lvl 6 ghostwalk and @12:32 says it's a lvl 5, yet both times the green ring / secondary cooldown had not fully finished for said Art. How exactly do you keep track of an Ghostwalks level? How do you avoid leveling them up in battle? Does using other Arts count to this as said here @12:30 ?
    Sidenote: counting the Decoy hits is gonna be hella difficult when you're already watching out for the Overdrive time and count, the Art cooldowns, Buffs to Refresh and your TP. Not to mention all the floating numbers on screen and battle animations going on.
    Tried killing Barnabas this way and despite lasting a while refreshing Ghostwalk, at some point I instantly die despite just triggering Ghostwalk.
    I just don't understand why Ghostwalk just bugs out sometimes until I came across this vid and figured the reason is my lack of understanding about the above.

    • @JBspherefreak
      @JBspherefreak  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I GOT YOU!
      Right okay here we go... Each art in Xenoblade X has both a Secondary Cooldown and Tertiary Cooldown which work differently depending on whether or not you are in Overdrive. Outside of Overdrive, it's impossible to get Tertiary Cooldowns (Basically the Third Cooldown of the art) but it is possible to get the secondary ones by simply keeping out the weapon that is used for the art and you will see this raise through the green bar around the Art. During Overdrive, it doesn't matter which weapon you have equipped, the bar will always raise for both Secondary and Tertiary Cooldowns. As a rule of thumb, these bonus cooldowns typically give you a couple of straightforward Bonus' like extra damage from and art or causing a Buff or Aura to have a longer duration.
      Ghostwalker and Ghost Factory however, the two Decoy Arts in the game do work the same but with an additional difference. Theres a failsafe in place with XCX on how Buffs and Debuffs work in relation to their levels. You can always apply a Higher Level Buff/Debuff then what is currently equipped so for example, if you Lvl 1 Topple an enemy, then hit him with a Lvl 2, then a Lvl 3 and so on, the enemy will keep getting Toppled and refresh the duration (It doesn't add on time and accumilate tho like XC1). It's impossible to apply an effect that is of a lower level then what you currently have equipped however so if you try to apply a Level 3 buff whilst already having the Level 5 active, nothing will happen. In addition, when attempting to apply the SAME level effect, then something interesting happens. Each time you apply an effect of the same level that the target already possesses, there is a 50% chance that the effect will automatically Level Up to the next stage. This means that when spamming Level 5 Decoy to stay invinsible, there is a chance that the Buff may level up to to LVL 6. At this point, any Level 5 effects that you try to apply will do nothing cos you already have a higher level effect. Ghost Factory and Walker however will always grant the Level 6 effect on its Tertiary Cooldown tho and there is no Lvl 7 effect in the game so you can spam the Tertiary Cooldown to your hearts content.
      As to how to keep track, thats a tricky one. You can either count how many hits you've evaded and thus know automatically or you have to keep a look out on the left side of the screen for the Decoy buff and its Level, whatevers easier but those are the only ways. I wouldn't worry too much about it tho. Once you've practiced, you don't need as much time focusing on the the arts and instead can pay attention to more of the screen. This is part of the reason I stated to re-arrange your art pallatte so you know where your arts are by muscle memory
      Depending on your level, it may be unlikely for you to kill Barnabas especially as a beginner. You just don't do enough damage and his evasion is enough to largely trivilise the fight. The objective of this video and this technique in general is to get you to a point where you can consistently hit max overdrive and stay there for a while, meaning that you can start killing every other enemy in the game. I recently helped and taught my buddy LXGK how to do this as well with this exact same method and the moment bro started fighting enemies he could actually hit, he noticed just how easy it is

      @@JBspherefreak oh man, thank you so much.
      I reached level 40 and was able to kill Barnabas last night. Took quite a while and I had little clue what I was doing.
      My Ghostwalk is just level 4 and I had level 2 Hellhound and level 2 of that skill that adds OD count (I kinda messed up spending BP on other classes). I somehow managed to clutch a win.
      I pretty much refresh Ghostwalker whenever available, never letting it go secondary CD as to not increase its level but I did notice at times that I received no Decoy buff. I didn't know about that % chance the skill levels up when a buff is still active. So it really came down to sheer luck that I didn't run out of Decoy hits before the next time I could use the skill.
      I mostly get it now. I get having to know when to Refresh the skill by keeping count/watch on the Decoy buff is vital to staying alive. Still gonna have to keep practicing.
      In my opinion this is actually more advanced stuff. Easiest way to infinite OD is simply spam the Knife skill "Smooth Recovery" with a full team. Should be available by Chapter 5 and it works well with most enemies of your level and can pair with pretty much any range weapon. Just gotta get that 3000 TP downpayment, skills that build up OD count and your good.
      However relies heavily on your team staying alive to build momentum and won't do jack against really tough enemies able to wipe you and your team in a few hits; which is where mastering Ghostwalker becomes necessary.

    • @JBspherefreak
      @JBspherefreak  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So you build up TP through auto attacks or specific arts. Once you hit 3000 TP. You can overdrive. You want to get as much TP again as possible to keep overdrive going (There's no real reason to use it if you are only going to use it once). Use arts to build up the counter which increases the bonus' I mentioned and repeat. That's the simple explanation.
      Check out my Livestream 6 part 2 in the playlists. Overdrive Gives you Big Buffs according to how many people are in Overdrive and according to what color the weird number in the middle of the screen is. The issue with it is just learning how to keep it going more than anything, learning all the buffs and whatnot is a different and much simpler learning curve; that's what this video is meant to accomplish, to teach people how to maintain Overdrive long enough to learn the actual benefits it provides.

    Its almost tradition for me to re-play XCX every year now. As i do so , im looking around for guides that came out in the mean time or that i simply missed. Your Guide is very basic , i agree with its title. You missed 2 points that i find are very relevant base informations tho.
    1. You didnt mention that using Blue and Green Arts will increase your Overdrive time.
    2. You mention that Purple Arts do build up TP in Overdrive based on Counter and per Hit , yet you didnt make it clear that this counts for every target, so let me rephrase your sentence :
    Purple Arts in Overdrive build up TP based on Counter and per Hit on each Target.
    This is important because attacks like Reality Rift or Trash Talk can generate much much more TP than Side Slash could ever do, depending on Enemies in Combat or hit range. This also raises your hit counter . And Trash Talk like any other Aggro building art come with inherent TP build up effects.
    You might just have skipped over this relevant piece of information because the Full Metal Jaguar Class dosnt actually have access to good Purple Arts on its own. But i still found it worth clarifying because i consider this a essential base information.

    • @JBspherefreak
      @JBspherefreak  ปีที่แล้ว

      This was designed as a very specific guide on how to infinite overdrive, if I ever go back and look at a normal Overdrive guide, I'll make sure to mention these points

      @@JBspherefreak glad to hear , i still liked your video , it was defo easier to digest then other Combat / Overdrive videos , and it was enough to remind me of the fundamentals for my upcoming playthrough.
      Btw , if you happen to ever replay XCX in its current state and you havent tried it yet , try a infinite overdrive Reflect Build , i find Reflect Builds a lot more fun in general , and it dosnt really matter for just Reflect which of the Reflect Weapons you use , Photon Saber , Javelin or Shield. Photon Sabers and Javelins are more for one on one fights while shields can take out entire groups , but shields work on one on one fights very well too.
      So if you want to Infinite Overdrive with those , you just need a Gun weapon that can raise the counter fast , so Gatling would be the easiest choice , since dual guns with decoys would defeat the purpose of running a reflect build.
      Anyways if you ever try it out , have fun ^^
      having fun is the most important thing as far as im concerned.
