What We Feed Our Vegan Baby

  • Join us for a day of eats with baby vegan! Please talk to your pediatrician before introducing solid foods & choice of infant formula & take appropriate training on CPR & Infant Heimlich. We have been slowly introducing foods, including peanuts (again talk to your pediatrician, serious complications, even death can arise from doing this wrong). Please take all precautions when practicing baby led weening. Breast milk is the ideal food for infants. Talk to your pediatrician about hypoallergenic plant derived amino acid based infant formulas if appropriate. (warning, they are expensive).
    We freely are sharing the products we use & have not been paid for product placement & purchased them with our own money.

    I used to breastfeed my baby at the table in restaurants but I always had his baby blanket draped over my shoulder. No one ever said anything to me that was negative or rude. I didn't care anyway. If it was time for him to eat I would feed him no matter where I was. I do not understand why people get so upset over that.

    Loveeeee , and I have to say much respect to you guys for cleaning after Tate .. I've seen so many times going out to restaurants where the parents would walk away from the table with a mess left by their kid/themselves. I think it's highly rude. Also it leaves a bad impression. I always clean the table. Put all my plates/dinnerware at the end of the table for the waiters to get with ease. I'm fastidious lol

    • @doireannconnolly6466
      @doireannconnolly6466 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Shadowmaster 192192 No I have read tons of articles claiming that the babies died as a result of a vegan diet but actually it was because the baby was malnourished. In one article I read the baby was being fed only tomato juice and water and died as a result then the article claimed in the title it was because the baby was fed a "vegan" diet.

    • @annabelgrace1267
      @annabelgrace1267 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doireann Connolly
      No non vegan parent will feed their baby just tomato juice and water. Also consider the age. That baby might have been a newborn, hence the parents giving the baby juice, only. The parents may have also been vegans, which is how they can come to the conclusion that the baby was fed a vegan diet. If a child was fed cows’ milk based formula, and only that for six months, or if the child was breastfed exclusively, for that period or longer, the child will not have the same issues, because real milk from either a woman or a cow, goat or sheep has a better nutritional profile and is suitable as a complete food for babies, than plant based anything. Vegan parents put their ideals over their children.

      It is legal, but highly frowned upon. I guess it's because a woman's breast is highly sexualized. I mean, the reason why women produce milk...is to feed their babies. Not for someone else's pleasure. People are disgusting. Mother's having to take time away from their families and their own food, to go to a restroom or car to feed their infant...people need to stand up. Tell these people who think it's indecent or inappropriate to take their food and go eat in the fucking restroom.

      @Emilio Vicente Definitely not a doctor. But the brain needs certain nutrients that can only be found in meats. Surviving off b12 pills is unsustainable. I'm fine with a moderate vegan diet as long as you don't force it upon children . Even having a cheat day where you eat meat would be good. B12 is necessary for brain development and is very unhealthy to withdraw from your diet.

      @@matthewsulter7795 Taking vitamins is perfectly healthy. In fact, it's easier to get the correct dosage from vitamins. You get more than enough protein on a vegan diet. In case you didn't notice, breast milk doesn't contain much protein whatsoever, and the baby still grows like crazy on it, almost trippling in size and weight in a couple of months. So please don't come here with your uneducated dribble just because you're not comfortable with someone else's parents feeding their kid what they feel is right.
      You know kids would never eat meat if they realized how it was made, right?

The first few months she did get regular baby food because she was only four months old her doctor wanted her to start feeding her because she was not gaining enough weight with breast milk and refused to use a bottle. She is now eight months old and loves all kinds of food, chicken one of her favorite foods along with cheeses and fruits and yogurt. She still refuses a bottle so if I’m watching her I use a shot glass and she drinks it with no problems

    i totally agree with everyone saying to breastfeed at the table. with my first baby, i was nervous and inexperienced at discreet nursing and i did it in the restaurant bathroom once. after that i said never again and nursed anywhere he needed me to. BUT if a mom is uncomfortable and anxious, it can make the baby fussy because babies are very connected to mom's emotions. i agree that more moms openly bfing in public will normalize it. but that may not be everyone's crusade. i love mrs vegan and witnessing her mothering journey. she is always going to do what is best for THEM.

    So glad to see a new video from you all! I'd love to see a response video on the new study hating on high carb low fat diets. And on eating 🍚 rice. I bought the rice cooker you recommended several months ago, and now I'm kinda afraid of the arsenic problem. Your baby looks so healthy. Peace.

    I love how you guys actually take toys with you to entertain your son while out and about or when eating! So many parents wonder why their baby isn't sitting still or behaving well when they go out to eat yet they don't take any toys to entertain them, like obviously the kids are gonna get cranky and bored! lol or they just rely on an iphone/ipad to entertain their baby while out and about ://

    p.s I'm not sure what is socially acceptable with breastfeeding in the U.K (where I am), but I just do it and own it! Sometimes I have a nice big blanket to cover up our modesty a bit, but be proud! You're doing great

    I've had to nurse in a restaurant b4 but I was in a high back booth in a corner so No one could see. I was out at an event for my husband's job and had to go nurse in the car. When I said I had to nurse him some people said breastfeeding was gross so I just left.

    I think that it’s really sad how some people get grossed out by such a natural and beautiful thing. They’re just lumps of fat anyways. I don’t see why it’s seen as such a “nasty” thing to do. Everyone has body parts, theres no reason to be ashamed. Feed your baby whenever and wherever.

    To me the discussion about breastfeeding in public is almost shocking. Here in Brazil is totally normal, being in public transportation, hospitals, schools, anyplace and of course some women cover themselves, but it's not something agressive. We are fully aware of its nature and how fundamental and necessary it's.

    What a cutie! As a pre-medical student I feel it necessary to share one vital tip with you: please make sure the peanut butter the young one eats is THOROUGHLY mixed in the oatmeal so it becomes a homogeneous mixture. Unfortunately if a child were to choke on peanut butter it would be very hard to get out (next to impossible) with just abdominal thrusts; the child would need surgery, and of course this is less than desirable because choking is a very time sensitive situation.. Generally I would advise to never give a human younger than 5 peanut butter, but if it is thoroughly mixed in I'm sure it helps take down the danger of it.
    Peace and love K. Belgrave

    I think what you are doing is so wonderful. I can only wish my parents had brought me up as a vegan as well!
    There are, sadly, many people who will express their negative opinions on what you are doing. They most likely do not know about veganism and its numerous health benefits (as well as the environmental and ethical considerations, of course). I hope you just ignore these people and keep on doing what you’re doing!
    When I eventually have kids they will also be vegan from day one ☺️.
    Your baby is the cutest, by the way!

    Adored this video! I did reach out to Neocate to learn more about their company. They said their formulas are Vegetarian friendly but NOT Vegan. I am unsure if this matters. The source is the Vitamin D I believe sourced from Lanolin or sheeps wool. Looking forward to talks next video and adore the blessing of the knowledge you share.
