    As you may tell from this video's thumbnail, avocado was my little one's first taste of solid food. And to this day, she still loves it! What was your baby's first food?

    This video is superb. Well thought through and informative. Thank you so much!!! The part where you show direct examples of iron rich foods and combination ideas is sooo helpful. Thank you again. 😊

    Could you please talk about introducing allergens to vegan/ vegetarian babies? There’s evidence that early introduction of allergens helps reduce the risk of developing allergies. I’m concerned that my child won’t be exposed to shellfish/ egg as we don’t eat those. What do you think?

    Thank you for the great video! I would like to ask how is with introducing tofu, wheat, citrus, peanut, strawberrys and other seeds into babys diet . Some dietitians said that it is good to wait until after age of one others say it is good to introduce it as soon as possible. So what is the right way to go? When this food can be introduced? It seems very confusing for me that dietitians have so opposit opinion on this. Thanks once again and alll the best!

      I don't personally know any dietitians that recommend waiting -- in fact, most of my colleagues agree that the more variety of foods you can introduce starting from 6 months, the better it is for the baby in terms of reduced risk of allergies and picky eating later on.
      Soy, wheat, sesame, peanuts and tree nuts are considered allergenic foods. This means that there is a higher chance that a baby might have an allergic reaction to them.
      However, it doesn't mean you shouldn't introduce them before the age of 1 though. It simply means that you should introduce them one at a time, ideally in the morning, so you can monitor for an allergic reaction throughout the day. This strategy will work for most babies.
      That said, some babies are at higher risk of food allergies. This is the case when one or both parents have allergies, or when the baby has severe eczema, which is often linked with a higher risk of allergies). If your baby is at higher risk of food allergies, you should discuss an allergenic food-introduction strategy with your paediatrician or allergist.
      As a side note, nuts and seeds should be ground, as to avoid the risk of chocking. Hope this helps?

      I thought I may also add that the old school of thought was that waiting to introduce allergenic foods until after the age of 1 would reduce the risk of allergies.
      However, new research shows that introducing these foods early may actually reduce the risk of allergies. That's why experts recommend introducing these foods early!

    Is there a plant based baby formula you can recommend?

    • @veggiesandmore
      @veggiesandmore  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't have one in particular to recommend but it may be worth noting that baby formulas must adhere to strict guidelines regarding the nutrients, and nutrient levels they include in their formulations. So I can imagine they'd be pretty similar from one brand to another. I'll add this topic to my research list so I can eventually write a more comprehensive post / film a full video about it! :)
