I don’t think printing more variants is going to hurt the game, but the speed in which wizards is putting out products might, cause people can’t keep up, or get tired of the constant spoilers. It’s certainly making me tune out things as the default.

I think the variants are cool but there being over done the thing that’s supposed to make them unique is the variant but if there so easily accessible there no longer unique. It just means more players can more easily find the cards.
I don't think it's an issue that people can't keep up. In other years I'd have bought loads of brothers war boosters even though I wasn't that big a fan of the set, but this year I didn't because jumpstart came out a month later.
What they are doing to the standard set product is making them into a secret lair product. Look at the all the alternate art variants of the same cards, and the foil versions. Sound familiar.
at a certain point these special variants is going to be worth less than a normal version due to amount of collectors being opened over normal packs
The variants only work in this set because the phyrexian creature art is just Soo badass!! Demons, horrors, dragons and nightmares are the most badass art in MTG! I love it!

The jagged monochrome variants are hard to tell apart at a glance, making it more challenging to recognize which cards your opponent is playing. However much these gratuitous variants intensify the game's collectibility, they undermine its playability by at least as much.

No. Not all boxes are like this. However it would appear that ALL boxes shipped and opened early are. It is not a coincidence that every single channel shilling wizards products before set release have all opened the chase foil mythic rares and have incredible boxes. These pack ripping and product opening channels are free advertising for wizards and contributing towards the capitalization of addicts.

How awesome is not having any pringles? This was why i always tried to get set boosters from Amazon Japan before just for the printed in Japan cards. online retailers like Hareruya will sell printed in Japan singles at a higher price than the US or Belgium printed ones because of the card stock and print quality (including way better centering, and doesn't have that abrasive feel if you put 2 cards together from some US prints)

The collector variants are really cool sure, but they drive down the value of everything else and are not even close to affordable :/ this is my favorite set in a while, mostly cause new phyrexia was the first set that came out when I started, but as a high school teacher, I had to save up just to buy a draft box, so collectors just seems outrageous...
I miss my old boxes where it had 36 packs, and a foil card was actually exciting :(

Its really a shame how Wizards refuses to print a powerful Nahiri card. She's considered one of the if not THE most powerful planeswalker in Magic lore, yet her cards are always absolute trash. It blows my mind how her card is printed as a MYTHIC yet The Eternal Wanderer is printed as a RARE yet Wanderer is WAY more powerful and much more of a bomb than Nahiri will ever be. WOTC just hates Boros planeswalkers I guess.

For me it's too much. Why I got out of magic. With all the different variants, I just ended up using proxies and then just going to flesh and blood
WOW, two Elesh Norns in one pack!!!! Fantastic!!! Most of the sketch cards look like garbage. They are just like the lousy sketch cards in Modern horizons 2. The detail of the sketch cards are terrible. I like the color detailed artwork so much better. Just compare the regular color artwork next to a sketch card. There is no comparison. Plus, there are too many sketch cards in one pack. I guess Wizards saved a lot of money on colored ink. To each their own. I am really tired of Wizards having 6 versions of certain cards. You are right, there are too many products with each set release and it waters down the the rarity of cards. There are way too many concepts now.

Everything isn't special, what is special has changed and there are degrees and choices for each person to decide what is special in each set for them, making the game and deck building more personal.
They're targeting the demographic that likes shinies and has lots of disposable shinies. They won't stop because people will eat it up as long as it's not another magic 30.
Without a doubt, Hasbro will eventually destroy MTG. With the insane amount of products coming out every year and the absurd price of some of them, (30th anniversary edition) it's inevitable. Buuuut on the other hand, most people are stupid and love wasting money, so who knows.

It's cool how the collectors boosters seem to drop high value cards more often. But I'd still not buy it, it's all just so ugly. The art doesn't feel "magic" and I've always just hated foils, be they yugioh, pokemon or mtg.

I am waiting to buy a box about 2 weeks after release and the prices have bombed out. They should be down to the $190 range then. Too many variants of the same card like this. Prices will dive after I heard Elesh Norn here might be banned after release.
I don't mind variants, I just legitimately think most of the variants are worse/uglier than the standard art. Also it's not legible.
