Gee, I wonder why public confidence in WOTC products is so low.
right? such a painful opening experience!! this was a rip off.
Constantly the same reprints that no one needs or wants anymore. Nothing new or flavorful. Art is good with this product and that’s it. Oh and the enormous price increase. Like, that’s what’s BS, I’m fortunate to have a pretty good paying job, but a lot of people that go to my LGS’s aren’t so fortunate and haven’t been able to purchase new boxes for a while simply because the value isn’t worth the price anymore, by a long shot.
Waiting on the "Pallets of Commander Masters found in Landfill" video any day now.
All those 2.50 dollar basic lands. Its an insult and people completely ignore it. They treat it as acceptable card chaff. That is deserved for just having the opportunity to open packs.

This feels like another experiment by Wizards to see how much consistency they have to put in a set to push both revenue and incite and prey upon gambling by the player base. Personally I hate the portrait cards so it’s absolutely not worth it to me at that price point, would be better off just buying singles I want.
I hated the portraits too, but they were cheaper, so I bought a few as singles, and they're MUCH better looking in person than in photo/render/video. Also, the borderless foil command tower he got is currently about 3.5$ USD.
Maybe at $100 Ill consider a box. Def not worth it if you have the potential to whiff that hard 😬
It's ridiculous the sticker price was jacked up by at least 100%, and yet they cut the amount of packs from 12 to 4.....so the effective mark-up is at least 6 times.

I'm glad this Video was made, it is proof of WOTCs Greed to push a product and charge more for a "Premium product" but then doesn't really give us Premium cards in said product.

the funny part they reprinted most of the value in the bonus sheet of the next STANDARD set.
These would be a hard to buy option at 100$ and in 6months when nobody has any $ they will be extremely hard to sell at 100$
I had tossed around the idea of getting one at some point, but this is convincing me otherwise.

Where I work, a single pack is $80 and we have no ability to discount the products.
I spent most likely a minimum of $600 where I work - with a marginal discount to get down to that price - on Baldur's Gate solely for Ancient Copper. I love the rush of pulling from packs, but even I can't imagine spending much on a 'premium' set like Commander Masters if the pulls are so hit or miss.
Just buy online?

For the price and the fact that its only 4 packs, there should be absolutely NO duplication. Collector boxes in general shouldn't have duplicates, especially back to back bulk cards. That and the fact the cards that do end up holding any value, WOTC will destroy the first chance they get, is why i haven't given wotc money in 3-4 years

Yep....I was one of the clowns that bought 4 boxes on release. I felt like the king of clown town. 1 of the boxes was decent but made NO WHERE close to my money back in value.
I have to sell my cards while they are still worth something. There's no way the player base and the game itself will endure so many fuc* ups in a roll.

Seeing Commons after the Land card, in collector packs, is just bad
This is why I stepped away from buying WOTC the past 6 months. I will only invest if the risk is low, like any investment. And, it surely is an investment at $100/pack. It’s like WOTC thinks most the player base drive exotic cars and live ocean front in SoCal and use their crypto profits from their ponzy to buy magic cards

I got lucky and through a promotion i got a box for $190. If i payed full price with what i pulled ide have felt awful.

I feel your pain, I bought a collector box for $150, The only mythic i got was bribery. Not even $50 worth of cards in a COLLECTOR BOX. Wizards is a rip off and so was this cash grab product.
At $150 it’s still way overpriced. $50 is good.
That was just a horrible box. I have bought 7 in the last 2 months and pulled 3 jeweled lotus 702 and 1 textured lotus. Not to mention all the other texture and big pulls. I think I have been extremely lucky.
They wanna take the collectible out of ccg, Im guessing they saw the secondary market at its peak when prices soared and thought they can get their shit diggers in it.
i bought a collector box of CMM for myself and it looked exactly like yours. I had 4 cards in it worth mentioning: 2 Commander duals in full art foil and back to back Ur-Dragon Profile Card, one Foil, one none Foil. For around $220 i believe. Last Collector Box of my life, i guess.

No. I got one for 145 and had $65 in rares and luckily hit one foil frame break lotus to save it. It literally had to be the set chase card to make $40.

Wizards of the coasts collation is atrocious and I would never tell anyone to buy a masters box of any sort. Especially with a set that the doubled the amount of mythics. Feels bad man.

I am somehow even more enraged at the concept of a product pushed towards casual singleton magic players that exists at these prices with DUPLICATE RARES. Could you imagine a kid saving his allowance for months only to get that selvala pack? Wotc could fix this, and they chose not to.
Damn I feel really lucky now, I purchased one for $200 but ended up opening cards worth around $200 aswell. Am very happy with that outcome after seeing this ;_;

The best way to lose 66% of you money. This is high stakes gambling ladies and gent's. And commander masters is not an interesting product from the value wise point of view. It has a lot of great cards for gameplay, but the value is low.
I bought masters 2022, I skipped this set entirely and you can see why. Bought singles of some extended arts.

Dang you got roasted hard on this box. You got super unlucky getting 0 medalions or free spells and then opened the worst mythics and less than expected amount of mythics a normal box. I have never seen a tragedy box that under performs relative to a normal box on every single slot.

Even if you manage to sell those, you will lose a third of it to fees, shipping, and taxes. Can be great trade fodder though. If the box was 100, then it would be worth it.

I got a box when they went down to 200 each. At the time i got about 150 back. Now that 150 looks more like what you got. I was so disappointed in this. I really wanted it to be better.

WotC seems to get insanely greedy. A collector box with 4 packs should not be charged more then like MAX 100$
I’m starting to become against entire reprint sets. They’re destroying LGS’. A lot of these reprints minus jeweled lotus weren’t needed.

There’s no controversy. There was nothing they could’ve put into this set to make it worth it. I know stores have to order stuff to keep their allocation but it should have been obvious the losses this set would cause were not worth keeping your allocation

Opened one pack on a lark, got a doubling season and figured it's only down from there and didn't touch another pack
Only thing good from this was the enchantment deck. 3 of my friends got it and it slaps right out the box.
buy a case and post that opening 1 box is no where near a large enough sample size to judge a sets value.
This is why i only play limited. Even then though with these dumb extra sheets monetary value is still a thing.

I took the plunge and got a case at the sale price. I was a bit worried but only got a few terrible boxes but none that bad. I think I was just very very lucky 4 lotus and lots of free spells definitely a product that was miss priced. It will be interesting if wotc learns from it or not.
Unfotunately I think they just keep learning the wrong lessons... Doesn't cost much to print, so they really don't need it to be hugely popular in order to make money on it. I bet this was a huge win for them, really.
