Seeing this is so bittersweet for me. I used to be an insane Pokémon card collector in the early 2000s in 5th-8th grade. Had a few binders full of cards including a ton of holos. My house was hit by a really bad storm and the entire basement flooded to the ceiling . The binders were down there and got completely soaked and got thrown away by a company that came to clean the basement afterwards. I still think about those binders all the time and imagine what super rare cards I might have had and not known about at the time.
I think all collectors have some deep pain about their past cards as a child. Thus we try to make up for it in the present. I’d say 4-5 years ago shit hit the tan in my household and ended up having to move everything out. I made SURE to bring those cards. All of them. One big box. Put them in the basement of my grandmothers house and never found them since. I searched that entire basement.
I remember my first ever Pokemon pack when I was like 7 had a holo shadowless Charizard, granted I probably put it through the ringer as a kid 😂 I also remember having 3 BEWD from LOB. Lost em all in a flood too. Shit sucks 😂

Pokémon Fire red was my first game ever and Niddoking was my first Pokémon I named him Popper and I took him to level 100 with no rare candies. We beat the whole game together 😭❤️ seeing niddoking made me cry
This was really fun to watch! I had a VERY rough childhood and I remember drawing my own set of pokemon cards to play pokemon with myself (no joke) because I was so invested in the game but had no way to get cards.. I had forgotten how much I loved the card game more than the video game even until my son who is level 2(moderate) autistic started saying pikachu over and over. He must have seen a youtube video or something. So I tracked down the early episodes of pokemon and when he actually screamed in fear for pikachu when the spearow attacked him I knew he was invested. I had never seen him show any emotion in that way because he doesn't usually display that sort of thing even most happy emotions. Anyways I bought a few hundred random cards for him and hes having a blast so I just ordered some packs for him to open. I'm not wealthy so I just got the cheapest modern stuff. My son loves watching unboxing videos with me (including this one) and its been a great way to bond since its very hard to find things hes interested in doing WITH someone. I cant wait to get the packs in and see him react to them! Thanks again for the great video!
i dont know you obviously. but i want to say, its very nice and beautiful from you, whats going through your mind and you are doing the best you can for your relationship. never lose that, and teach it to as many people as you can. best of luck to you and enjoy the openings :D

I remember in early middle school having basically the set of holos.. i had them sleeved and everything in my binder. obviously i was a huge fan, just loved how i had them in their order and just stared at them lol.. Then years past, I was in my early 20s and I completely forgot about them.. and then i happen to remember and i asked my mom what she did with them.. she said she gave them away.. A part of me died lol.. and then seein what these eventually became makes me feel proud i legit had a crazy expensive collection as a kid lol... Nothing will ever beat saving my money, buyin my packs, and then eventually like most kids dream of. Pullin that Charizard. Thank you for the video & your collection is immaculate!
Worth is a weird definition, because lets be honest they arent worth shit. But then again yes they are because appearantly there are idiots who pay tons of money for these pieces of paper. @@Teih. I see what you're saying, but I wasnt going there. Because I think lots of stuff that isnt necesairly needed to survive, is worth the money. Vacations, phones, comfortable chairs, nice televisions, decorations that you like. Anything really. Its not needed, but its more worth the money than a pokemon card with these crazy prices. If I imagine I have everything I need and theres barely a thing I can think of that I would like to buy. I would still not buy a card like this over 50 dollars, even if I was interested in it. Thats how off this price is with the actual value imo.
I know this is an old post but man… I was born in 96 and around the early 2000s I believe this pack was one of the ones I would collect ! Giving me some flash backs… I’m trying to recall what other packs around 2006 were popular still.
I had a binder with a bunch of first edition holographic pokemon cards as a kid, and my dad threw all of them away because in the 90s, people thought they were demonic. Needless to say, i showed him how much these are worth now, and it was hilarious to watch his eyes get wide 😂
I still have a loooooooot of cards, talking meters of pretty much only first gen stuff. Lots of holos and whatnot, no idea what it's actually worth. haha 😂 Like, the pokemons in the background, got several copies of most of them. It's all in some boxes. lol
What a pleasant stroll down memory lane. I had 1st edition of every holo as a kid in middle school. I sold my 1st edition Charizard for $80 to buy Donkey Kong 64 when it was released in 1999. At the time it was worth only $100-120. A few years later I ended up selling my entire binder of Pokemon cards at a garage sale for a painfully stupid amount, I basically gave them away. I want to say for $15. Definitely less than $50. At that time I remember everyone I knew saying they weren't worth anything anymore and it was "just a fad like Beanie Babies" and that sadly became my final verdict. Looking back, it's one of very few true regrets I have. Oh well, live and learn I guess.
Some guy ripped me off at a garage sale at my grandma's when I was about 11. $35 for the whole binder instead of $35 for a shiny Clefable because he took advantage of me. Bad dude.
I will definitely not laugh and scoff at my child for what she is into, i will support anything and watch her come out on top. Parents who Think they know best and reading these stories, complete morons who dont understand markets and trends. Hell i ask my 11 yo nephew all the time what he is into, guess what? Its STILL pokemon.
My son 8 just got into pokemon cards and now i cant stop watching videos hahah. I might be spending some money now to help finish some sets for my quote " son "
I gave up on the pretext and just started my own binder. My daughter and I have an agreement not to touch each others binders haha she says hers are better because all my cards are old 😂
I'd like to thank my sister. When we were kids, I had a small binder with all my holographic pokemon cards, including a perfect Charizard. She threw them in the bathtub while I was at school one day. Parents got on to ME for being mad about it. Then, after high school in 06 I joined the Army. When I came home from boot camp, I was looking for my binder of other pokemon cards (also had some Digimon and WCW cards). Mom decided she was tired of "clutter" and "needed closet space" so she burned all my cards in a barrel outside while I was away. That closet is still empty to this day.
She awkwardly supports it, when she passively commented/jokes about the 9k raichu it was clear she doesn't feels good about spending all those money for a card, she doesn't like it or get it but she let's him anyway because she prob is cared for anyway.
I got SO excited when you started to peel off the plastic!!! It was the same feeling I get when I open a booster box, but this one is in another league of its own!! This is awesome man, thanks for sharing!!!
He has a lot more Patience or money, probably money than I have just looking at his wife bending the cards trying to open the packs was killing me. I would have opened them all and then let her do the reveal. Kudus to him for not being a douche like I would have been 😂
Ikr I’m loving watching these packs get opened but she’s not really taking a 93000 dollar box of cards very seriously and it’s giving me anxiety watching her nails dig the sides of each card as she shuffles through the pack. Not to mention practically folding them in half trying to open the pack lol

What hurts the most is remembering buying these in 1999 and just ripping them open..
I think my mom sold my binders in a yard sale back in the day 😢
I think all collectors have some deep pain about their past cards as a child. Thus we try to make up for it in the present. I’d say 4-5 years ago shit hit the tan in my household and ended up having to move everything out. I made SURE to bring those cards. All of them. One big box. Put them in the basement of my grandmothers house and never found them since. I searched that entire basement.
All good people. Just do it with your kids now🙌

Agreed. The knowledge this guy has!
Thanks again for the great video!

wtf are all the comments of people’s weird a** parents selling or throwing away their stuff? Yikes….
The lovely banter between you two made this video, so you know. The cards just added. Wish you the best.
Bad dude.
My parents gave away my entire collection as a teenager because according to them I was already too old for that 😂
Why have so many kids be willing to just let go of their childhood. Thats your first mistake.
I will definitely not laugh and scoff at my child for what she is into, i will support anything and watch her come out on top.
