As Sam let psycho capture you. During chapter 6 as Ashley after you finish the dollhouse section. Walk into the unlocked door look immediately to your right to find a camera. Then turn it off. Find the blue book to your left, and take the scissors with you. Find more clues about the mystery men as well. (During chapter 6) As Ashley make sure you choose the sympathetic options when it comes to Hannah. When you’re presented with the choice to follow Chris or investigate movement choose “investigate” when the psycho attacks you two, and you have the opportunity to stab him DONT DO IT. Attacking him will make him not feel remorseful. When both Chris and Ashley are tied up, and you have to shoot someone. Don’t do anything at all just let the time run out. During chapter 7 as Chris choose the options Pick “you deserve this” Pick “something feels wrong” Pick “you’re the coward” When the option to disarm Mike or hit Josh. Just don’t do anything as well. If you did everything correct up to this point, and collected some mystery man and twins clues along the way you should have the “I’m so sorry option” Session 5 “They hurt me” “I’m so sorry” During chapter 10 make sure when you first go in the water as Sam walk all the way left to find Hannah’s journal! If you believe any of these choices to be irrelevant you’re more than welcome to ignore them… but this is what I did and now I have the Platinum Notes: Chapter names changed to Memento Mori, Jealousy, Isolation, Loyalty, Dread, Vengeance, Loss, Revelation, Despair & Repentance. Saved everyone, was kind to all animals, romanced Jess (underwear), collected MOST collectibles - Twins, Mystery Man, Totems & 1952, Ashley showed Matt Mike and Emily through the telescope, Emily & Jess argued in the lodge, Matt was firm with Emily at the fire tower, Emily kept the flare gun, completed all don’t move scenarios.

Hi, so I just followed your guide and it 100% works! thank you I have been trying to complete the josh ending since the game came out. I did notice that some things didn't affect the josh ending in my playthrough manly letting the psycho catch Sam. I escaped as Sam and still got the I'm sorry prompt. THINGS OF NOTE TO HELP PEOPLE: 1) you do not need to have Sam be captured 2) Emily will never be Charitable (but if you picked loyalty, you should be fine) so don't worry how she affects your game to much just make her honest. 3) following the options above will make the characters (except Emily as stated) more honest and charitable (which is what some people online believe josh wants but again choosing loyalty may make that redundant but keep this in mind) 4) Honesty will always be mikes lowest trait following this guide it still in a good range but not the highest so don't freak out. 5) the achievement may be glitched if you try and do it from the chapter select (on PS5 unsure about PC) or it may be unable to do on a chapter select run (Again unsure) so if you don't get the best ending for josh in your first playthrough you have to start from a new save. That is all I can think about at this moment but following @LS353 guide will give you the I'm sorry prompt just makes sure everyone survives, and Josh will be saved.
I been looking at other guides on various websites who give definitive answers on some questions with Dr.Hill and they do not match the answers you gave. "I feel uneasy", "I'm not sure", "yes, I do", "No, it's not", "Who are you?", "You're freaking me out" are the only answers that align apart from “They hurt me” & “I’m so sorry”. Maybe any of these answers are the real key but I do not know yet. I've not been able to unlock this ending for myself yet so I am still looking for a definitive answer before I give it another try because I ain't gonna risk spending 5-6 hours to potentially not getting the ending.
hey so its actually pretty easy. I am not gonna tell you how until dawn works, because you already do - Im just saying 1 thing - butterfly effect. Thats what you are asking about - which choices impacts Josh's chance for "true good ending". Luckily the menu tells you exactly that, because his ending has a dedicated butterfly effect (as you may know). By reading that it tells you exactly what you need to do. the "a second chance" decides Josh's ending. The only choice that affects this exact butterfly effect is the "they hurt me" and "I'm sorry" segment. Thats just how the game is setup, so there's no other "real key" the only thing that matters is the fact that you need to say "they hurt me" and "I'm so sorry" + you need the other requirements also.

Which dialogue options do you have to choose that unlocks the “I am so sorry” option. I know for a fact that some answers aren’t mandatory and I am very away of the butterfly effects.

yes, people are well aware of the "Second Chance" butterfly effect ... it's just that the exact manner in how to get the option of "i'm so sorry" to show up in order make Josh remorseful is still an unknown. It's most likely that one or many of the choices made during the therapy sessions with Dr. Hill has something to do with it but exactly which one is somewhat of a mystery.
@@ChengTeoh Yes indeed. I kept everyone alive, followed what others did for the Dr. Hill sessions and at the end of Chapter 8, I didn't have the "I'm sorry" option so pretty sure there might be other contextual choices at play here.

I’m really thinking the options you select while Josh is around matter. More specifically when you find out he was the one messing with everyone. I changed what I originally said to him and that may be the secret. I’m doing a clean play through now to confirm.
Thanks mate! I will start from chapter 6 onwards after I'm done with my curre t playthrough. I stabbed Josh with Ashley which lead to Chris hitting him in the shed. Maybe that was the reason I didn't get the option.
Nothing you say to dr hill contributes to Joshs survival it’s how you treat him as the other characters in the game I made a proper guide explaining it
