I don't often comment. But when you said " Same thing we do every day. Try and take over the world ". I could not resist. I have not laughed that hard in a long time. Pinky and the Brain RULE!!!! I wish you the best of luck in your building of this boat.
So glad to see you guys back. I think you are my heroes. You guys are doing what I always wanted to do but didn't have the guts to do. Stay brave and remember that there is a lot of people around the world who admire what you are doing and are jealous.
Your channel exploding so quickly and all the help you were given was not all due to Jessica's eyes, it is because you are truly nice people. Great Channel. You are doing the right things!
Getting stuff out of the container and into the tent was a combination of exciting and stressful. Having great friends (and the right equipment) made all the difference. Having the tent for the build is immeasurably helpful. So satisfying to see so much of the build appearing to happen so fast. That'll give an adrenaline boost that will be necessary to carry through the small details for the next period of the build. Now you can just sleep in the two outboard hull sections! So fun though!!!
My father was a developer and he always said, every build takes longer and is more expensive than you think it is going to be. So 6 or 7 hours over isn't that big of a surprise to me. Congrats!!!! That's looking great! I know you got a long ways to go, but it is looking great!
I remember when you were walking on the pontoon bridge at the pier, and for the first time you talked about your plan to build a ship. It seems to be very far away. Finally, today you have achieved a historic breakthrough!
Big Days like that will be the best of memories. Great to have so much help and congrats on a sensational day for you both. Feeling your stress there Matt , heart pounding stuff. Cheers Ross.
Awesome work guys, however not without an unhealthy amount of risk during the demobilizing from the container. If you ever have to repeat such a situation, arrange for a 40 foot open top container where everything can be safely removed in a quick fashion with a crane. I know they are a bit more expensive in regards to shipping costs but certainly a benefit in reducing risks of fatalities and or damage to hull sections. Another benefit if possible is to arrange a single jib section lifting for the telehandler. So much more control during lifts.
Ok well this video just made lots of self doubt go away regarding my own future cat build. I didn't realise the cat came already built like that I was thinking it would be you guys making it from nothing basically lol so yea cool I like it and am now even more lucking forward to my own build when the time comes but in the meantime I will be enjoying your build and learning from you guys so best of luck and thnks for sharing. Peace & love from the UK and Philippines.
When I first saw the opening of the container I was worried. It looked like all the parts had been carelessly put in there, and hope for the best for the journey. But clearly I misjudged the factory. They had been skilfully and safely mounted, and well protected for the journey. Well, that's a start. Come on. Chop chop. I want to see the finish. Are we nearly there yet???? Good luck on your project.
A real interesting build. a tip? After the Epoxy has been mixed, put it in a ziplock bag, close it, clip the corner of the bag and use it with squeegee to seal a seam.
Amazing achievement guys, I can only imagine how high your stress levels reached, great to see everyone pitch in to help get the boat project underway, stay safe 👍🏻🇬🇧
I am absolutely loving this! The slow tedious work lies ahead, but the final results will deliver your dream. Your excitement level has to be off the charts! Really happy for you both!
Looking good, Matt and Jess! I couldn't believe how quickly it came together. I thought you'd be weeks getting to this stage. Well done, you two and your friends!
This was just a dry fit of the pieces as we work to get them all alligned. Once we know where everything is supposed to sit, we'll go back and bond it with a methacrylate.
@@MJSailing SuperGlue, what a great bunch of folks to help. Good thing you had access to those large equipment handlers too. Cheers to all on job well done......
Remember this moment, and the emotions and joy, and be sure to bring them back during the build when you are feeling a bit down :) We are many who will follow your build journey and cheer you on!
You'll be amazed how long the "starts looking like a boat, ain't it?" phase will last before the "lookalike" will be past for the last time, with a "looks like a boat _on the outside at least_ " phase in between. They're brave to take on that task, prefab or not. I'm looking forward for sure.
Congratulations guys. I can't wait to see the finished product. Based on your projections it should be ready right about my 60th birthday. Seeing it will be a great present.
Amazing. Thanks so much for sharing. Alex is a hero. It occurred to me that the factory needs to put them in the container as well as you needing them out. Perhaps if they pre-fitted lifting straps to each piece with a loop at top to let an extending fork into the loop and then lifting the piece... maybe the load and unload would be easier. Might cost factory but would save time loading so it might be a wash on costs. Also they would be able to tape the straps in place at perfect lifting points. Just a suggestion... maybe I’m wrong. Good luck with the build. Thanks for sharing the adventure.
Nice work unboxing the lower part of your boat. The factory might think about including a set of instructions to make braces and stanchions as aids to "lift" the pieces out of the shipping containers. Too bad the marina didn't allow the container to be dropped for unloading. Good work guys, looking forward to the build and sailing after!
extraordinary work of the handlers, to get everything out, and install everything without breaking anything ... indeed the heart of your Darling: Boom, Boom, Boom ... !! and all this assembly ... but ... we do not stick before all the elements ... !! I had never seen this before in my life, how to send a catamaran in pieces by a container ... !!
The excitement is palpable. You may need to watch this when doing fiberglass or cutting another hole and discouragement sets in 10 months from now. Excited for you guys!
Job well done 😎. For the next container you might want to look at it being delivered with a side loader. I.E truck drops the container on the ground and leaves for it's next job, then comes back to pick up the empty container the next day. That way you only pay for container delivery and pick up, and possibly an extra days hire on the container. You will not be paying for the truck and driver to be doing nothing for 6+ hours. Also with the container on the ground it makes things a lot easier. I.E using trolleys or dolly's with pneumatic tyres (your working on gravel) to help shift large articles out of the container. Another suggestion is to removal the fork and backstay assembly from the tele-handler. This well give better clearance into the container and you can then use slings to lift whatever it is you are trying to move from a center point inside the container.
Great video. Looking forward to the rest of the build. I’ve built race cars from the ground up, so I am really looking forward to seeing this build. I am sure the truck driver was happy to at least get his mandatory rest time while still being on the clock. Not sure if it was because of time lapse but it looked windy the first day- if so must have made it even more interesting moving those big pieces. Good start guys!!
Yes, it was so windy! I forget the unload day spans over 2 videos. In the last one we mentioned it was 28 degrees on our drive over and 12-15 knots of wind. 🥶
I was the biggest skeptic about you going to a cat but I have to admit, it's looking pretty sharp. One thing about filming all this is if ever you put it on the market for sale, there is an entire video blueprint that goes along with it. Smart and I think you will be the first to do it as far as I know so great plan. You seem happy so that's what matters most. Cheers.
Congratulations to both of you I am really going to enjoy watching you guys finish the all the work on the boat. I know it will take a lot of time. you both a amazing to undertake a project like this.

Have so been looking forward to this! Please don't think that things will be too boring for video. The construction process and getting to see the "insides" is something I've been wanting for a long while now, and you guys are providing it! I assume that at some point you will need to lift those parts back up in order to bond them together? I assume that's going to be a fairly early step before you start actually building out much inside the structure. This really goes a ways to showing that while you might be able to purchase the materials to build a boat for a lot less than the cost of a boat, the labor involved is where a lot of that price goes!
