Trust the man in the shop.
Yes, you definitely need 3k worth of gear to cycle to work. He can't possibly have any ulterior motives.
Always.
Yer man in the shop.
As someone who bikes to uni, I can confirm that wearing normal clothes will make your wheels fall off and your pedals disintegrate
Roadies are a completely different species and mentality than normal people who ride bikes to go places and do everyday normal things in their normal clothes.
What happened man?
“The man in the shop” has a lot to answer for 😆😆😆
Whenever you two fight in a sketch, it looks like a real sibling fight 😊😂
They might as well be 3 brothers. 😂 Closer than brothers, even.
@@laurenconrad1799😅😂 who knows.
The lot of them are basically siblings so 😂😅
@@slaughterofelysium i read they met at college?
@@Lesliekentyoutubeuser they did yeah, dropped out and started doing standup I think :)
Met a guy at a wedding once and the small talk turned to hobbies and we both enjoyed cycling.
I quickly realised there's a difference between enjoying cycling and being obsessive about it!
Is this how Foil looks on a normal day when not filming? 😂❤
Yeah he cycles to the studio 😂😂
"I cycle to work." "From where, across the Pyrenees?" 😂
Great ball-thrusting!
The funny thing is that I’ve got a colleague who’s the exact replica of Foil’s character. How am I supposed now to look at him strutting in the staff room without giggling?
Your asking to be laughed at in a good way it's just too funny who wouldn't laugh 🤣😂
🤣🤣🤣 The man in the shop is “always right”! 💜
Arm's just jealous of that flexible hip roll. 😂
Used to work somewhere that had a no lycra in the office rule. Apparently this type of thing had got out of hand! "Can you stop that please?" 😂
Anything will look like lycra when it's 2-3 sizes too small...
Thé man in the shop said so - 😂
If you get injured in an accident caused by another road user (or a pedestrian, or whoever or whatever), you have no witnesses and the perpetrator flees, the camera is a very useful thing to have filming the whole event.
In some countries the hospital bills can get really high really fast. A few hundred quid for documentation purposes is nothing comparatively speaking
In some countries........... um America?
Even then that's no guarantee. I sent video to the police of a driver who forced me off the road when cycling - he got out and started threatening me. Police couldn't do anything 😢
Some people don't look good in bike shorts, some really really do 🔥
😉 we all know who
Cyclists would look normal if you made it easier to cycle, you only get the ones who REALLY love cycling when it's a death trap with all the cars around :(
In defence of the camera, the number of people who stopped nearly hitting me every day when I started wearing one was slightly disheartening
Why were you getting hit everyday???
I get hit like once every 10 years...and that includes parked cars 🫢
@@feral_shade "nearly"
@@westrim I think Adams and I may have a very different perception of what "nearly" is 😅
My guess is they live in London
@@feral_shadeyou have no idea where they live or how much they bike, or even where they bike.
I had a colleague scoff at how once a week I'd show up to work with a story of some driver doing something completely ridiculous and unsafe. Our boss also cycled so my colleague asked him if he was nearly getting hit every ride. He said no, but once I qualified riding through the city rather than in the countryside he was like "oh yeh that tracks completely, me and my cycling club mates avoid the city entirely for that reason"
This is my dad but with running 😭
trust the man in the shop, he's clearly looking out for you.
The man in the shop made quite the commission
Remember back when high-end road bikes were only 2.5k? Darn things cost as much as a motorcycle now.
The despair in the voice... poor man!
How is no one talking about how effortlessly he put that foot up on the table
All their skits are so well thought out and executed....pure gold ❤
You cycle in Dublin? 😱 Don't get killed pls
Ridiculous! No true cyclist would ever have their lycra that baggy, you're loosing like 3 watts
Ooh another nice choice of short. I think a lot of people can empathise with Arms’ mildly irritated sarcasm here. Where did you cycle from - the Pyrenees?!
1.5% = 18 seconds
100% = 1200 seconds = 20 minutes
His house is 10 minutes away
😂
John just aced the sarcasm ultra pro max class 😂
I wonder how much that class was. Can't be more than acting with pen, or was it more? 🤔
@@Ensign_Roque It was 12 grand. Non negotiable
The humble interest in watching back the footage. He just wants a friend...
Love the multiple camera angles
I would say the real commitment to the sketch would be to shave legs and arms like a real road warrior...
The man in the shop, he definitely didn’t want a pay rise for selling a lot of equipment... 👀
British cyclists:
Have spent a months salary on gear, monitors their performance more closely than an olympic athlete, loves their bike (and talking about it) more than anything in the world
Continental cyclists:
Has a bike that costs less than the grocery bag hanging from the handle (5 previous owners since it was last stolen), is currently checking their phone, might know the colour of their bike if asked)
MAMILs are the bane of my existence.
god damn, it's my dad. except my dad will get everything second hand.
Don't worry. 2500 for a carbon fibre bike is also second hand.
@@AbDirkienew entry level bikes also cost roughly that much.
@@AbDirkielol my dad would never buy carbon fibre, it'll be an ancient pure steel Peugeot 😂
I made the mistake of going "for a bike ride" with a new date. My $35 bike trying to keep up with a $2,000 one.
What am I supposed to wear? NoRMal cLotHeS? 😂
Imagine cycling to work than being too tired to do anything.
I once donated blood on a work day, I was dying to rest :(
Same thing with distance running.
Remember if the man of the bike shop recommends... Then accept your faith.
Everyone, at one time or another. Brilliant!!
thankfully Sean Kelly approved this sketch
(18/1.5%)/60 means the commute used to take him 20 minutes. the new time is 19 minutes and 42 seconds
This is eerily accurate. Except my friend who does it, lives almost an hour away from work. Imagine the smell 😅
That's when they start asking for showers. To be fair, that's not a bad idea, and you can switch into office clothes at the same time, too.
Normal clothes are what I wear everyday when I use my bike.
I wish I could do that, I get too sweaty so I have to wear gym clothes and then change into regular clothes.
I worked with someone lile this. I recall once seeing him riding past me as I stepped across the road from the train station. He waved to me as he rushed passed me and shouted something about having a coffee waiting for me by the time I got to work. 20 minutes later I was at my desk with my Greggs coffee and bacon sandwich and he comes into the office, out of his bike gear. His hair was wet and untidy, when previously it was his vanity and he always styled it carefully, and his clothes were creased. Again he had been previously very particular about his appearance and shirts were usually designer.
I said "Where's my coffee?"
Of course he hadn't got one and I didn't need one.
His hair was wet because he was so sweaty from riding his bike to work he had to shower, fortunately we worked in an office that provided showers. He had rolled his clothes up carefully in the little carry bag thing that was at the back of his bike but they were very creased as he didn't want a big bag to carry them because that would make the bike less aerodynamic.
Also, because he came on his bike he couldn't pop into Greggs and get a coffee as the coffee would spill and by the time he showered both coffee and sandwich would be cold. Until he got the bike he used to be one of the first of my colleagues in the office. He only lived a 15-minute bus ride away. Once he got the bike he was often one of the last people to turn up. Plus he got so stressed out from riding about in heavy traffic he took longer to settle his head into work. He got the bike to save on public transport costs but spent so much on it and the gear, his friends calculated it cost him more than 12 years of bus fairs.
On the plus side he became an enthusiastic weekend cyclist and his sensible girlfriend persuaded him to just come into the office on the bus.
The shop owner must be a real good business man, but then again Foils Character seems to get impressed easily 😂
2,5k Bike my brother got is really great. But he can't ride anywhere with it, because it could get stolen.
My German friend moved to New York and bought a bike to get around. He moved back to Germany before the pandemic. While I’m sure the timing made moving easier, I kept thinking he could have made so much more money selling his bike during the pandemic than before. Bikes were going for so much money then. 😂
Full speed down the new cycle lane through Clonskeagh. Zoooom
Ah! Belgian colours! Best choice!
He's wearing a Raleigh logo. That doesn't go with a carbon fiber racing bike, but a steel frame cruiser bike with a 3 or 5 speed Sturmey Archer hub gear. The exact type of bicycle that you can wear normal work clothes while riding.
Is this sketch inspired by real events in FAH hq? 😂
The Raleigh team did actually win the 1980 Tour de France though
I feel attacked
Don't forget that when you wear that gear you have to stay 6 foot from the ditch so that the bushes don't snag your expensive clothes.
Oh, so that's why they always ride in the middle of the road and snarl up traffic...
@@kme Well, it's more of an optimistic theory than the fact that that they might just be total asshats.. But then again I am a "pint half full" kind of guy..
Not just with that gear unfortunately. I was wearing “normal” clothes when a long briar overhanging the cycle path snagged on my practically brand new down filled jacket and ripped it.
Also helps deter lunatic drivers passing 10cm away doing 60.
That‘s more or less my life.
Yeh jus can't, the man in the shop said so.
It's funny as Dutchy as this conversation won't come up...
2.5 grand for a carbon fiber bike?! Must be a unicycle at that price!
Well, you can get some decent ones from Canyon for example for that price. But I do agree: 2,5 grand is just the beginning ^^.
A colleague had a £6k bike but only used his 2k bike for commuting to work c.3miles away for fear of theft. He regularly had spats with bus drivers over who had right of way in bus lanes! Cyclists are often fetishists in Britain hence the lycra gear...
Mám volné dva lístky na FAH v Praze v listopadu! Jinak jsou vyprodaní.
Two tickets available for the Prague show on Nov 22nd!
OK Mr Smarty Pants, you were so proud of finishing the marathon! Eat crow!
Every Dutch person on their morning commute is doing it wrong then. 😂
Well, they dont use helmets so yeah
I will make the argument that cycling clothes keep your good/work clothes smelling clean for the work shift. Last thing I want is too look at the desk across from me and see Steve in accounting looking like he just took a full clothed swim.
Spot on!
The Man in the Shop is rich
Normal clothes + helmet
Foil!!!! We need to do coffee!!!! And a croissant, (with a french accent)! 😆😆
Couldn't afford the
clip in boots to finish the ensemble?
Level 7 susceptible
1.5% of 10min is only 9 seconds.
18 for both directions...
@@xinaesthetic great point, you are right
How to buy £600 of cycling gear and write it off on your taxes
I tried to get a skirt cover for my bike and they don't even do them anymore!
There's so much bullying in this workplace to a man who is clearly trying to do good for the environment!!! 😢
I do wonder about this, is there a minimum number of people who need to cycle to actually offset the increased carbon output of them slowing other cars down by cycling on narrow roads. I can have a 5 minute difference on my commute depending on whether a particular cyclist is out or not. It doesn't sound like a lot but things are usually backed up by a dozen or more cars at least. If they're all adding 5 minutes on that's an hour of extra driving the cyclist caused.
I should start wearing a race pilot suit and helmet for driving from home to work.
Lookin hot
That was not a man in a Dutch shop.
I've met those fellas
Just tell us what atrocious thing Arms did to Foil's bike 😢
As a cyclist I'm offended.
So great job from your side 😅
Bahahahaha!
😂
Biked to high school 7 miles for most of 4 years. So... Whatever.
❤
Still only a tenth of the price of a car
I remember a post about how an American was shocked to see fat people cycling in Amsterdam. Every body cycles there in normal cloths. Age,gender, body type doesn't matter. It's just a part of life as walking there.
A fancy bike with gears requires tight clothing, even if work clothes. Skirts, loose pants, or anything that can get caught in the chains will be an instant clog stop. I've never seen these kinds of bikes in the Netherlands unless a pro biker.
@@57appel Yeah the OG "girl bikes" were designed so you could ride them wearing a skirt and not worry about the fabric getting caught in the chain. Most cyclists only need three gears to get by normal commuting.
@@57appel Hm, as long as you don't wear wide trousers (or you use one of those things to wrap around the leg) you're good. But in the end it doesn't matter. If you have such a fancy bike the sport is your hobby and why would you wear normal clothes instead of something breathable then?
@@Xarx42
I could get to work three times faster on my bike and had steep hills to climb, so needed a “fancy” bike with multiple gears. In the NEL, it’s not necessary to get around towns, you’re correct. Bike theft is a problem, too, in NEL, so I would not buy an expensive bike. The video is a comedy sketch for the uninformed bike rider, as you know. I wore work clothing under protective clothing, especially in inclement weather.
We dont want to look at your diaper😮
As the comic strip "Pearls Before Swine" calls them:
"Heels on Wheels" or "MAMILs: Middle Aged Men In Lycra:
You did not get a carbon bike for 2.5k. Try 5.
You can definitely get road carbon bike frames for less than 5k. It won't be Ultegra Di2 or Dura Ace, but 105 and "normal" Ultegra for sure! Canyon bikes, for example.
Of course you cant use normal clothes. You'll sweat on them...
Not during a 10 minute commute you don’t.
I've known these guys. Just wear regular shorts ffs.
I ruined several pants by cycling everywhere wearing normal clothes.
Aerodynamics BS wins the race!😂😂👍🇨🇦
I've been cycling to commute for 30 years now....I love how he completely flips out at the idea of wearing normal clothes on a bike...it totally gives him away
you either stash them at work/school, or bring them in a bag
...then get there early enough to compose yourself
....or, if you can't, just wear the normal clothes on the ride....better to lose seconds from the drag/weight, than to losing minutes from the changing time.
...you can't afford new bike gear if you get fired...what a poser 🤣🤣🤣
😂... whatever... in this case I am going to excuse the cyclist... even people like him are still much better than those who are promoting electric cars... 🙃😉
Why do only male cyclists need all that ridiculous gear?
Unfortunately there are lots of cyclists like the one depicted by the guy in the real world
And when you're on a bike you're basically a car until it's inconvenient for you.
😂
