I've lost count of the amount of times I have watched this sketch and it still has me in tears of laughter every time! I teach English as a second language in Dublin and showed this to my higher level students. They were on the floor! A lot of them work in shops or restaurants in the city centre and recognised the phrases. I also always point out to them that "I will, yeah!" means "No way!" Bleedin' brilliant, lads! :)
Ah brilliant lads! Yeah, I’m sure there are many of us that properly appreciate it! Very clever in linking it with the lesson given just before! Love the whole act, word play can be absolutely hilarious and you do it brilliantly. Even to “seen” and the details of it 😂 love it. Brilliant material and execution of it, I swear to god haha. Can’t wait to see yas in Vicar Street on Friday night! The feckin beast from the east can go elsewhere this time!
@@anna_bandana Right?! Haha. It was clear enough to stand out as a play on what they’d said before I thought haha. I’m glad plenty of other people including yourself have noticed it anyway. 😍
@@seanjosephhayes Exactly! I think because people were still laughing from the previous bit that maybe they missed it or something I dunno! I thought it was really funny and I’m sure we aren’t the only ones to have noticed it! Just the only ones to have commented on it! Lol
How in the world, being italian and not having a clue about irelanders, i can't stop smiling while watching you? I swear i'm not having that crac :) this is pure talent
Just wanna say that between you guys, The Try Channel, and Father Ted, I’ve introduced my family to the three pillars of modern Irish entertainment (it’d be four, but I haven’t sold them on Johnny Logan yet).
Ah I'm crying this was incredible 😂😂 the crack jokes lost me, as someone who isn't from Dublin, but is from down the road, the Dublin part was fabulous
One day I will be able to afford sponsoring You on Pathreon, cannot wait to see Your live shows there. Your videos literally kept me alive, and now my weeks start with Thursday, true story.
Could you do a video in which people with a Belfast accent interact with a Kerry man? My grandma was from Belfast and my grandpa was from Kerry. Quite humorous at times
How would you say I love you in Dublinish or I like you ( since I get that there seems to be a lot of sarkasm going on) would -it’s not like I like you or anything be an approximation? And what would you say ( apart from a poss right hook) if you really dissliked someone to their face if you just had enough?
@@gaelle4328 There is no literal translation for "Love" in Dublish referring to your Girlfriend as a "dirty damp yoke" or your boyfriend as a "streak of paralysed piss" is the closest thing we have to loving exchanges for eachother.
Absolutely brilliant sketches and accents but I have to mention the "vurb" bit. It may well be used in some part of Dublin but it doesn't fit in with the accent in the rest of the sketch. V-aaairb would be my take on it. Love/Hate also amazingly dropped this clanger with several of their characters. Even Nidge was on about his young fellah's "buurthday party" instead of "Biiirrt-day party". Keep up the good work, youse are the best in the business...of this I feel ceerr-hn.
The Dublin accent is so fascinating and unique, the traditional North Dublin one anyway. Fun fact! The accent of Irish English is heavily influenced by the west country England accents of the 1600s! If you look up recreations of how William Shakespeare would have actually spoken it sounds like an Irish accent!
I’m a Corkonian living in Canada, and this brings me joy too! Reminds me of the two years I spent living in Dublin. In fact, I’m getting sentifuckingmental about it! 🤣
I'm afraid I won't be able to say everything on Thursday so here we go: Thank you for an amazing gig! And thank you for always being so fabulous on meet and greet despite being tired af and sometimes seeing the same people all the time xD I just gotta say, I feel like I did change from Exeter, I def am less nervous around you guys, like I could give Foil a gift for you lads easily while in Exeter I slowly backed off. xD You made me come out of my shell and for someone who likes to have everything planned, it was nice to travel to somewhere I haven't been before (like Exeter and Vienna) and somewhere I was but the memory wasn't great. (Like Frankfurt...you did notice me being happier in Germany tho, did you lads? I still want to move there) Again, Arms, I know you have such respect for me as I do for you and I thank you for being such a nice lad chatting to me when despite now feeling comfortable and safe next to Foil...sometimes I still feel like I have a tendency to freak out. But I don't. Cuz he knows it all now.
The guy with glasses sitting in front of Vladimir (compared to the camera) looks like me in a fairly uncanny way, even my mom thougt it was me when I showed her at first

I'm actually dead. Arms literally killed me. - Who the fuck talks like that?
Dead people, obviously
I was laughing so hard at that part I was nearly crying.
Really funny but not enough that I'd use actually and literally incorrectly. On the other hand if you are now dead then my condolences.
It's been a minute and no reply. Are you ok?
Fiachra? Fuck ye, hold on...we'll go with Fio on that one, alright? 😂
I seen, you seen, we all seen Oisin.

Comedy gold, pure genius. And to finish off with a hammerhead shark impression, well it don't be getting better than that

We do the same thing with "to be" in African American Vernacular English. lol Many theorize that it could have come from Irish English.
