The other day I got some UNBELIEVABLE footage of my tortoise laying eggs. We also went around and fed ALL the tortoises and put the GoPro on Ike for the day! Full Video - th-cam.com/video/gSPi0v-Qwic/w-d-xo.html
Saw on internet that many species of turtles and tortoises are becoming extinct everywhere. Thanx to the Tortois Whisperer and others around the world trying to breed them and put them back in their natural habitats. On a Galapagos Island, they lost over 200,000 of 1 species, and only one turtle left until he dies of old age.
The way you talk to them, hand feed them, house them, and generally provide such good care for them shows how much you truly love them. It's very commendable and I admire you for it. I grew up in Southern Arizona in the 1960s and 1970s. As kids friends and I frequently spent time in the undeveloped desert around our homes. It was a real treat to find a tortoise in the desert. We didn't run across them very often so we would play hide & seek with them (watch them retract and come out as we touch their heads, feed them what we could find and just enjoy their special company for 5 to 10 minutes before shove off to our next adventure. My mother also kept a tortoise in the back yard (it is 30'x90'), loved it and cared for it the way you do. She thought it ran off the first winter not knowing that they burrow. She was delighted when it came out of hibernation in the spring. Really cool videos I really like how you interact with them and how they respond to you and to your touch. Amazing!
Your videos are so educational and oddly relaxing! I really appreciate how raw and down to earth you are! I can tell you truly love what you do. Question... I’m not able to get a tortoise from you, but if I were able to would it have to stay outdoors like yours do?
Do they actually taste the food and show a preference for it? I noticed with dragonfruit most of them seemed sussed out by the strange white color but excited by the red! Then when they tried it they seemed to really like how soft the inside was. So do you think they prefer soft texture, smell, looks, or taste? Would love to see a video of you giving them all sorts of food in a tournament to see which is their favorite!
They're so adorable. I rescued a RES and a yellow mud. I live in apts so had to get them different aquarium habitats. Very pricey to get things right. My yellow mud passed but My RES is kicking. I never thought about owning turtles before them. They're beautiful creatures
love that enclosure that you created for them too. lot of work for them and they obviously show they love it by using it and I'm sure they don't understand that you're protecting them from the rest of the world. great work, keep at it
You are a wonderful Man, your Tortoises are so well taken care of and your adorable Dog (Tillman?) is such a sweetheart!t🖤🐾 I learn a lot about the Tortoises too, thank you! Hail to King Ike🐢👑, his harem and ALL the babies!!🤗🐢🥰
Hey I have a 2 1/2 year old marginated tortoise which lives indoors. I was just wondering if you could advise on anything to entertain him and if he can eat a variety of fruits everything I read gives me different facts and just wanted your opinion
I would put some timothy hay in his enclosure so it can graze on "grass" anytime it wants to. Timothy hay is a great replacement for grass for indoor tortoises. Also I would definitely recommend considering getting another friend for him. Usually when there are two tortoises, it brings out their personality a lot more and they tend to "compete" for your attention.
Can you tell the babies and medium size tortoises apart? To my untrained eye it just seems like a a lot of tiny babies and a lot of medium size ones all together in their enclosures. I know you can definitely tell apart the big tortoises.
Feel free to give more fun facts about these guys- can they feel you touching their shell? What does their skin feel like? Where do the rescues come from?
I love all your turtles! I wish I had a big area like that! I live in a condo, with just a patio. I built him a den ,though. He. goes is it every nite. Where do I buy Dragon fruit? Or Cactus pear? Thanks! Luv, Shauna
For those people: “tortoises are in fact turtles, they belong to the order Testudines or Chelonia, “reptiles having bodies encased in a bony shell” but not all turtles are tortoises. They live in a variety of habitats, from deserts to wet tropical forests. tortoises don’t have much to do with water other than drinking it and occasionally bathing in it and are land creatures only.”
What would happen if you end up getting too much tortoises? Like you don't have enough space for all of them? Do you sell them? Release them into the wild? Move them around to a different enclosure? This channel is so fascinating :o
It’s just like dog in very very slow motion. Where’s your home located? Arizona will be the best place in order to get cactus and cactus pear easily, are you?

Some people do keep them indoors and care for them but they thrive outdoors in the sunny weather
