    Do these struts come with front lower spring insulator? Im installing b6 biltein on my 2014 glf tdi and realized originals struts failed to have isolator or spring insulator so it was metal on metal. My new b6 my new
    Bilsteins didnt come with insulators. This seems weird, why is this not a factory thing? Do other models have insulators i could rob one from or should i install a generic insulator.???

      I spent hours communicating with with ECS customer service through chat and phone call. Finally the return got through. However the refund goes to store credit without asking me ahead of this. That's how they do the business: 1) send you a used part.2) Let you return it. 3) Refund to store credit. Definitely a good business model for absolute positive cash flow. Avoid it.

    Thinking about buying Ecs coilovers for my mk7 gti. What's the least expensive way to get the most front camber?

    • @ecstuning
      @ecstuning  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately there's no way to adjust front camber stock. The best way we recommend getting camber adjustment up front are with adjustable top plates or roll center correcting ball joints. Adjustable top hats give you the most adjustment while the roll center ball joints usually only give you around an additional degree of camber.

    ********* Don't forget the (unmentioned) upper strut bearing needs to be mounted under the strut mount (7:25) ************
    Because this video did not state it's installation I neglected to install it after one strut was completely in. Had to remove the completed strut - cost about 1hour of extra work. Hopefully this kit is everything that's expected of it as it was purchased solely due to it's name brand.
    (1) Week later - Appears to be a decent kit. After tightening done everything from the settling of new hardware I am impressed with it's easy functionality of adjusting the heights/comfort levels and wanted to leave some tips for those about to/considering to install one.
    I personally did JUST about all this video detailed to do. Except:
    COWL: Depending on your windshield cowl you may not need to remove it. With a ratchet, socket and allen wrench there was room to slightly bend up the cowl (carefully) and torque the struts down. That cowl/windshield wiper removal can be difficult and time consuming if never removed.
    STRUT REMOVAL: When removing/replacing the actual strut it is not required to remove the axle bolt nor the control arm bolts (3) other than to use the new ones you rightfully paid for and to strengthen/support the new equipment - meaning it is very doable to replace strut w/o taking the wheel hub out of the control arm - just replace the old hardware with the new ones and let the wheel sit as is, and slightly bend/rotate the hub to remove the strut after using a spreader. This will save time if you are solo on this job....just be sure to place your car lift under the CONTROL ARM to re-seat the new strut - with the control arm bolts in place the angle will be just right to easily slide the new strut into the cradle after you have the top (3) bolts loosely holding the strut in place.
    SWAY END BAR LINKS: Be aware that the sway end bar bolts already on the vehicle may strip as VW's design of them requires improvement. Keep in mind that they have been exposed to years of dirt/grime/road debris. Lubricating them well beforehand is not a guarantee depending on the age of your car. If they strip - stay calm and use a cutter/grinder. No problem.
    If you are on jack stands remember that you may need an extra day of two - depending on your skill level and encounters with the unexpected. May the force be with ya'.

      Were you able to apply the final true to the bolt holding the rear shock in place(~ 17:00)? It’s supposed to be 180 nm at ride height, but I had no way of tightening it once I got the spring into place - not enough clearance
