From your footage I can say that the v50x is doing a quite impressive job. That's why I have one that's on its way to me. Hopefully it will reach me within next week 😂. Can't wait to test it out. Thanks for the great reviews 👍👍👍
Actually the time lapse helped me see how the video goes with the real time.I have v50x on order but due to the world crisis it will be till the end of April before I get it. Thanks for your videos on this action camera
I have a question about my akaso v50x. I am trying to take a night time-lapse, but I have a problem. I changed the exposure time to 5 seconds (under the photo settings) so that there would be enough light getting to the sensor in the dark environment. I tried taking a few photos and they turned out really good, but when I tried to take a time-lapse, it just used the auto exposure settings so the entire time-lapse turned out way to dark because the sensor was not getting enough light. I am able to change the settings for photos, but when I take a time-lapse it doesn't use my photo settings. (just to confirm, I am doing the photo time-lapse, not the video time-lapse) and ideas? Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
The camera has two time lapse modes. In one, it captures a series of still photos and it's up to you to do something with them, like assemble them into a video. In the other mode, the one I used above, the camera captures the images as video. When you select the "Working Mode" you'll see two icons that say "Time Lapse". The icon that looks like a still camera is the one you used and captures multiple photos. The one you want looks like the video icon. You can tell which mode you're in by the mode description at the bottom of the screen. If it says "Time Lapse 12M" you're recording a series of photos. If it says "Time Lapse 4K30fps" you're recording video.
I noticed that the timlapse function on my Akaso V50x camera can be set to a maximum time of 1 minute. Is it possible to record for a longer period or do I have to press the start button again after the 1 minute is up?
- Regarding your first time lapse with the date, you can crop it and make a cinematic res from it. - The cloud lapse, I wonder if a firmware upgrade can take off the purple fringe you can see on the trees. You don't see those on the V50 pro cam
Yes, you're right on both counts. I avoided doing any manipulation to the video in these Akaso clips because I wanted to give an accurate idea of the video quality directly from the camera. But for real use, a little cropping and image processing could probably improve things a bit. What's your impression of the V50 Pro overall, better than the V50X? I almost bought a V50 Pro. :)
@@steevithak Here's the thing, when I buy something I make a long research since I don't want to throw my money away so I read a lot, watch youtubes (as yours), ask questions (sometimes it's good, other times it's bad since you ask 100 people, you'll get 100 different opinions, from what I've seen, v50 Pro has a better footage quality, better sound (internal mic), 20mp (stills, though not sure how it is as raw) and no purple fringe BUT its EIS is worse than the v50 X and it has no external mic capabilities. The v50 X can take an external mic which is good since its internal mic is awful, it has a better EIS which is one of the thing sI'm looking for, but its image quality isn't good as the pro, i.e purple fringe and sometimes the colors. also it has a 12mp, Saying all these from what I have seen online. I'm waiting, maybe they will upgrade something in one of these, make'em better, or have a new one. I'm also checking the YI+ but again, I won't know till I know, right? :)
Yes, Akaso contacted me in late June and said the corrected hardware was now shipping. They swapped my V50X for a new one and I just received it a few days ago. The retail packaging looks identical my original V50X and all of the specs are identical, so I assume there are no changes beyond the audio fix. I hope to do a quick unboxing and audio test soon. Maybe in the next week or two.
@@steevithak Did the firmware version change as well? I wonder how someone could tell if they got a new vs old one. Hope you can get to your review. I'd like to buy one in the next week or two for an Aug trip. :)
@@steevithak I'm really curious now if you can tell any difference. They also told me the audio was fixed in June and it was now available in US from Amazon store. Just bought it last week. It has "old" firmware (V50X-FX-20191101-V1.0), which they have told me is still the newest. As an EE, I don't see how you can fix the low audio without new firmware and maybe new hardware. The audio volume is still very low like everyone has complained about in the past. It is like the microphone gain has purposely been reduced by at least 12 dB. You have to speak directly into the mic on top (or the external mic, which I also bought). If you have either one even just 1 foot away from your mouth (i.e., external clipped to your lapel like it should be), volume is unacceptable.
Does it turn off the screen to save power while doing time lapse? I'd guess the office sunset was over an hour long, which would normally use up a battery at 4K from what I've read though taking photos every 5 s should be much easier on life than recording video. I'm trying to get a feel for how much battery a sunset would take.
Hii I tried recording sunset.. but I feel the video playback speed should be increased.. 20min video is shown at 3min.. similar time I took it in mobile which was at 40sec and gives me a good view to see.. And one thing I noticed in video.. it changed color I mean the contrast nd all got altered automatically.. can you please share settings used for first footage (lake)
Check the meter setting, if it's set to center or spot, it may be more sensitive to changes than if you set it to average metering. You probably also want to make sure the ISO is set to a fixed value and not "auto" as that lets the exposure change as the light changes. I believe I had it set to ISO 100 and average metering for the sunset over the lake.
im new to all this stuff and i just got the akaso brave 4 , i was gonna to try the time lapse but im not sure if i should do the video time lapses or picture , and not sure what to set the timer? hopefully someone can help me out lol
@@steevithak that would be great. Thanks. I will do the same although last night although clear couldn't see many stars so I'm guessing too much light pollution here. Stay safe x

thank you! Exactly what I needed to know! Thx for the work ;)
how is the battery on this think. How long it last and can u charge it while using it
Did you use the EIS feature?
No, I was using a tripod for most of these time lapse sequences so image stabilization wasn't needed.
