Thank you for an excellent review. I bought one based on this video. I wanted something capable of shooting 4k, that was good in quality and conveniently fitted in my hand luggage for a flight from UK to Madrid. This ticks all the boxes :)
Excellent job on this review. I bought the cam (prior to your vid) after about a weeks research of all action cams under $150.00 for all the reasons you mentioned in your review. I saw that the new version was a bit worse in quality but some aspects were improved like the audio. I also watched many of your videos about Redmi products and loved them too! :)
I beg to differ that this is a good action camera. I had this setup on my motorcycle and the video was terrible. I traded up to a GoPro Hero8 black. I would not recommend this as an action camera when it comes to being mounted on a motorcycle or a fast moving vehicle when using video stabilization. Does not compare to my GoPro Hero7 black. Electronic stabilization is very weak when filming at high speed and degrades video quality to the point you cannot use it.
We'll see, I plan to make vids via my hot rod. Not as fast as either of my bikes, but fast none the less. If it doesn't work out, I'll upgrade to the the GoPro. If not, I'll have a decent cam for walking around events, shows etc. On a side note, I've read many bad reviews about the Hero 7 black. More about that model than any other GoPro actually.
this camera is arriving today for my island trip in 2 months! looks soo good and the quality looks 100x better than other cameras ive seen! people need to know about this camera. im not a tech person, knew nothing about cameras, so I hope this I quick and easy to use
How about durability ? If it gets accidental drop ( waist , chest and head height ) will it survive the impact ? Thanks in advance and keep reviewing and showing us how it should be done . More power to channel . BRAVO! Top ! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻👍👌😉
This one is quite lightweight so the chances of surviving are good. While testing the Campark V30 I crashed it while it was on the 4WD buggy and it survived. I even managed to scratch the lens - which is visible in some parts of the video. Both are very similar in terms of specs and build quality - so that one should be good.
I am sorry I can';t help with a code for the German Amazon; Often Akaso have campaigns, so could be that they announce another promotion for the EU-based customers.

And more like somekind of universal case. I miss the buffer ring which the M10+ case had to it's lens. On the V50x is 0 protection. But maybe I can print a nice protective ring which I can glue to it. Going to test the camera further this week :)
You doing excellent work! I watched many of your videos and there's tons of relevant information and justified opinions. Do you still believe that v50x is the best choice for 100$?
Only if it is with the Hisilicon chipset. Latest batches use iCatch though. In the past weeks we've seen some models.gping back to Hisilicon, so... Interesting whether Akaso will do the same

Hi @Teach4All, Thank you for this video. I am searching the third action camera for my moto bike vloging tours. I am already using Go pro black 9, and Sony a6500. Third camera I will use it only for one position, from the steering wheel to look at my direction and to make this kind of shots. Do you think this camera is good enough for that purpose. Thank You!!!
Just went ahead and bought one, I don't need high quality audio since I use my action cams on my surfboards most of the time (and use my Osmo Pocket for non water video!). Stoked to start shooting with mine! Sorry, SJCam, Akaso's making a better product at a better price point!
Yeah, hard to beat that one when it comes to good price. In fact SJCAM have reached out to me through a PR-agency, and asked me to do another review of the renewed version of SJ9. Furthermore - now I seem to have reached an agreement with their support about getting a replacement, so once my vacation is over, I will send the faulty unit back. Let's see how things will develop further.
Would you clearly say that this is the best action cam under $100, or is there a better alternative? BTW, I said it before, but I will say it again. This is one of the best TH-cam channels for tech!
High Michael! Excellent review...camera does take amazing looking video and photos..however, I wish manufacturers would give us that one port we need! 3.55mm mic input!! If it had one...would be an excellent vlogging/review camera.
Yeah, I also miss that, mate. In these little cameras it is hard to find space about everything, so I well understand why everyone tries to get away from 3.5mm jacks, even smartphone makers :(
I can't say it is much of an upgrade to the Seabird, honestly. And parsing any video through google photo's stabilization will make the video smooth enough. in fact this camera has a lot of similarities with the Rexso Explorer K by Elecam.
Now! In October 2021, the Akaso V50X comes in a factory batch of 4nd generation versions. The video quality is very different from the first production a lot.
Hello, thanks for the reviews. Would you recommend the V50X over the V50 Elite? I would be using for TH-cam videos while on cruises and the temps tend to get very hot.
That footage looks great. The cheap action cam rabbit hole is very confusing. I want something that is not 300 dollars, that is good for motorcycling. Akaso is on my radar but they have so many it is confusing.
Thank you for the very helpful review. Some reviewers have complained that the quality of 1080p recorded by the V50X is terrible. What did you think of it?
Can you get your hands on an Akaso v50 pro se and see how it compares to the other models. I'm wondering if it truly is an upgrade. Thanks, you do great work.
Hi Chad - the Pro is a little older already. Between the X and the Pro the differences are not many, and I'd pick the X-model, because of the chipset inside.
@@TechMishka I think he talks about the new Pro SE, that is some special cooperation version with new features, including 4K@60fps and stuff... its about 40 bucks more expensive than V50 X, I believe

Talking about the case... It actually also feels verry cheap. And more like somekind of universal case. I miss the buffer ring which the M10+ case had to it's lens. On the V50x is 0 protection. But maybe I can print a nice protective ring which I can glue to it.
Going to test the camera further this week :)
Well done! Very good review!
Hey, thank you so much Stefan. I am so happy to see your comment here! 😃
Nice review with section wise like software ,hardware and etc
Glad you liked it
Ty for sharing information
Most welcome!
Interesting whether Akaso will do the same
Good video, I'm going to get one and a mic for messing around on my motorcycle, can't go wrong at that price
Go for it!
Just a great review thank you so much I wish I'd seen this one before I purchase the earlier model 7000 it's in transit right now I think I might just try to return it and purchase this one I watched lots of reviews and years Beyond none is the best thank you again and chairs
The 7000 series are good. Try before you return it, you may like it.
Nah, they already use different hardware. Try to find a cheap second hand GoPro Hero 7 or newer.
thanks for the video Michael 👍👍👍👍...good informations
My pleasure!!
I use akaso v50x..thank for review
Most welcome. Have fun! 😇
@@TechMishka I'm glad they are paying attention and want to address these problems, that's a good sign! I'm still jazzed for my Akaso to arrive tho!
Nice review,thank you 👍
Most welcome, Mohamed
Would you clearly say that this is the best action cam under $100, or is there a better alternative?
BTW, I said it before, but I will say it again. This is one of the best TH-cam channels for tech!
Rony, what you say means so much to me!
And I still think is the best $100 device.
@@TechMishka what about the Akaso Brave 6 Plus?
Thank you Michael. Great review. Does it come with the stand or holder for taking selfie ?
It comes with a basic tripod.
High Michael! Excellent review...camera does take amazing looking video and photos..however, I wish manufacturers would give us that one port we need! 3.55mm mic input!! If it had one...would be an excellent vlogging/review camera.
Yeah, I also miss that, mate. In these little cameras it is hard to find space about everything, so I well understand why everyone tries to get away from 3.5mm jacks, even smartphone makers :(
Great review !! Thanks !!!!
Most welcome, mutrax. 🙃
Whoah it somewat drop to $90 now..seems pretty good value and more stable than my 4k seabird
I can't say it is much of an upgrade to the Seabird, honestly. And parsing any video through google photo's stabilization will make the video smooth enough.
in fact this camera has a lot of similarities with the Rexso Explorer K by Elecam.
Is it still worth buying today or are there better alternatives for the same price?
Thank you Great review
👍
Now!
In October 2021, the Akaso V50X comes in a factory batch of 4nd generation versions. The video quality is very different from the first production a lot.
Is it better or worse than the first gen?
This was very helpful, Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
thanks for the review
Always welcome, Majed! 🙃
What external mic and external recorder did you use, I need to buy
A lavalier mic (Rode have good cheap options) and Zoom H1.
Please suggest akaso or seabird 😊
The Akaso has more accessories, external mic option and more accessories. ANd is easier to get and buy.
@@TechMishka thanks 🙃
Thank you for the Video !
My pleasure!

Hello, thanks for the reviews. Would you recommend the V50X over the V50 Elite?
I would be using for TH-cam videos while on cruises and the temps tend to get very hot.
The V50X seems to use different hardware now in 2023. So I am no longer sure which is the better one...
@@TechMishka Thanks.
Very good video! Congratulations! I'm from Brazil, in the range of 100 dollars, do you have any other model better than the v50x?
Guess this is still one of the best out there.
Hii..very informative, thank you Michael!! One doubt is still bugging me, what type of memory card you slipped inside
Most class.10 cards will be fine. Please note that in 2023 Akaso sell this model with different hardware inside and it is no longer that good.
That footage looks great. The cheap action cam rabbit hole is very confusing. I want something that is not 300 dollars, that is good for motorcycling. Akaso is on my radar but they have so many it is confusing.
Get a DJI Osmo Action 3 or 4
@@TechMishka I got the action 3. to good of a deal and the camera looks great.
Hi, great review! Would you recommend this camera over the Apeman A100 trawo? Which one does better in low light filming?
Both will have comparable results in low-light; maybe the Apeman model will be slightly better.
Hello, which one do you think? Akaso V50x or Apeman Trawo? Or is there a better one in this price range?
Both are quite similar, with the TRAWO having a little better sensor.
Thank you for the very helpful review. Some reviewers have complained that the quality of 1080p recorded by the V50X is terrible. What did you think of it?
Everyone is free to have opinion. I've heard some saying that about the V50 Pro. I like a lot the quality on the X.
Thanks for the video, didn't even know about this camera, GoPro died after cheap replacement, are they compatible with Chromebook?
Compatible with Chromebook in what sense? If you ask about USB connectivity - should be.
I was looking for a camera to mount to my shoulder for my next hiking trip which will include some rock climbing and I think I found my new choice.
Glad you liked it, Grey. Hopefully it will be some great experience!
Did the external mic have a pre amp ?, and what would the internal mic sound levels be like brought up to the same level as the external mic ?
No pre amp. The internal mic is a little quieter.
@@TechMishka Cheers for info sir, keep up the good work
