Since this video is gaining some traction from all the Aussies and Kiwis out there I just wanna say: I've been a Supercars and SVG fan since 2020 and I have watched him race (and win in) pretty much everything from V8's to GT cars to drift cars and now NASCAR. This win meant a lot to me because now people are finally realizing that this wonderful series can produce some big league talent like Ambrose, Skaife, Lowndes, Whincup, Scotty Mac, and now SVG and it's surely a step in the right direction for people outside of Australia and New Zealand to start paying attention to V8 Supercars as one of the top forms of motor racing in the world.
I think Cam Waters would have a massive crack at Nascar road and street as well,but he's been massively overshadowed by the state of the series,by which i mean Chev having a stupidly massive advantage over Ford
I was watching from the Monster booth in pit lane and MAN it was a blast seeing the moves he was putting on cars down the start/finish straight. Seemed like every couple of laps we saw a level of brilliance you rarely see. SVG is undeniably one of the greatest living motorsports athletes in the world. If he happens to hop into ovals and be a natural too, the dude's career is gonna be one for the history books.
As an Australian all I can say is strap yourselves in if he comes over there full-time, the guy is a freak, when he has a good car and is in a good headspace him winning is inevitable like Thanos. Shane is right up there straight away no matter what he sits in, look at his rally, Daytona 24 hour, and sprint car records, if he does a full year I'm confident he'll win on ovals because that's just the sort of thing he does. I'm not a fan of him by the way, as an Australian it's hard to idolise a Kiwi, but credit where credit is due, he's at the white hot tip of the speer of racing talent for sure. I'm sick of him winning all the time for the last few years here in Australia, which as I said is inevitable.
I went to Bathurst to watch the 12h endurance race. SVG driving a Mercedes. He drove the wheel's off that long nosed coup. Something special about being track side at skyline and watching a GT car worth several million dollars airborne @ 300 k/ph.
The guy is the ultimate dark horse, he has the form as a racing driver to do anyhting well but most people don't even know who he is, that won't be the case any longer. Any NASCAR team that doesn't make him an offer will regret it eventually. The guy is a freak with a track record of success in multiple racing disciplines
SVG is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. I’ve been fortunate to meet him a few times over the years at Supercars events in both Australia and New Zealand.
Meet the guy on thee street, sure he's not a bad guy. Meet him on a racetrack, he's an ABSOLUTE MONGREL. But then name ANY race driver who is not like that.
As an Aussie, I absolutely love the whole Nascar/Supercar crossover concept. I'd LOVE to see some Nascar drivers come over here, and more Aussies/Kiwis head over there. It's a win-win situation as far as I can see.
Here's my take on that race: good racing, good cars, great sound and they are way stronger than Gen3 Supertaxi's going by some of the hits on the day. I haven't seen Shane this happy for a number of years, his interview was full of smiles and openness and he didn't have to toe the Supertaxi line when he opened his mouth. With limited testing, new car, new team, new track, new drivers and left hand hook, it was a big scenario to overcome, well he smashed it for a 6. Kudos to SVG, he's got some seriously gifted talents. 🙂 One happy boy on the day... he looked like the cat that swallowed the canary... and so well he should. 🙂
SVG done us proud 👏 Every Australian and New Zealand race fan was cheering so damn loudly to watch our boy win on debut.......sad to know we will soon be loosing him from our series but stoked to see him fly both our countries flags when he goes for a full series assault 🎉

Ok Something you guys dont know about Shane Van Gisbergen, is he is the car. That track is simple compared to Adelaide, Newcastle, Townsville they are the streets circuits "SVG" races and dominates at. That was a drive with the wife n kids through a new city, while on holiday, or vacation as usa's call it.

As an Aussie, I hope this win motivates US folk to check out V8 Supercar races and maybe entice a few top line racers to try their hand at our version of going fast in a monster V8. After listening to what the collective field of drivers, after race comments, it seems like SVG was the most experienced driver with a field of ROOKIES, every single one of the "nascar" taxi drivers should be PAYING him a very large teaching bonus !!😥😥😥😥😥
SVG will race anything with wheels, and he has a habit of winning. 3x V8 Supercars champion, with 80 career wins, and 2 Bathurst 1000 wins. Blancpain GT3 wins at Silverstone, Nurburgring GP, Monza, and Paul Richard, and winning the 2016 Blancpain GT3 Endurance championship. 2016 Bathurst 12 Hour winner, setting the overall track record to secure pole position. Also has two 3rd places in the Bathurst 12 Hour. 5 Daytona 24 Hour attempts, with a best finish of 2nd in class. Finished 5th in class at Le Mans in 2022 on his first time there. Also done 3 Spa 24 Hours, and 1 Sebring 12 Hour. Competed in the WRC Rally New Zealand last year in the WRC2 class, where he finished 3rd in class in his first ever rally. He also used to compete in pro drift events in Australia and New Zealand for fun when he was younger. The cunt can wheel.
Look at the track realestate Shane uses. His car on corner exit is up against the wall every time. The NASCAR drivers seem to scared to put their cars up against the walls. That’s why Shane keeps pulling away. Top drive from the Gizz
SVG to Nascar??? Yeah, Maybe. It's a cool thought and might happen. BUT 3 things to realise, yet the 2nd & 3rd "may" not be so critical. 1. We (Aussies and Kiwi's) don't race ovals, we drive on the other side of the road.... 2.everything is counter-intuitive except pedal placement...... gas on the right, brake in the middle and clutch on the left. 3. We measure in Metric.

@@Phonixrmf Would be good...the Thunderdome is just sitting there rotting away, so hopefully with the Giz winning the race and a renewed interest in NASCAR, the Thunderdome can be repaired and reused as a NASCAR track again.
