Hi guys! Great product i owned it 3 weeks ago. Very great product. I have a question: why sometimes a green line appears next to the point of impact? Thanks!
Its not a tripod that Mantis produces, its just an off the shelf tripod and the remote is supposed to be paired with your phone to actuate the shutter for photos.
So, are you chambering each shot? Did I hear something hit the floor, but I never saw a casing discharge after each fire. I’m confused. But curious. Thanks. Keith O
The Pink Rhino Laser Training Cartridge that comes in the kit is designed to stay in the chamber between shots. The sounds you're hearing are coming from the app.
Yeah, that was my question , too. I figured the laser cartridge would stay in the chamber but I thought you had dummy rounds in your magazine. Can you eliminate the sound of the shells hitting the floor or will that also disable the shot fired sound because you're turning off the sound on your phone completely? By the way I'm a long time user of the Mantis x original system and it's the best dry fire system I know until I get my new laser kit of course :)
Hello, In comparison to other dry fire systems, I do hear in your video an actual shooting sound every time you fire a shot. Is that a sound the app creates and the sound goes through the phone speakers?
The app has a calibrate feature where you set your desired point of aim, shoot that spot a few times, and then it calculates the offset for you automatically. You have to do that if you change guns or move further from the spot you calibrated at. It takes about 30 seconds or so, so you can switch between an AR with the blackboard and your carry gun pretty quickly.
Question: My MP 2.0 Sheild EZ 9mm is not actually a striker fire but acts like one. It is an internal hammer fired gun Do you still have to rack the slide each time?
What does the remote on the standard tripod control. I've seen a bunch of un boxing videos but not once has someone mentioned what this does. Also has anyone else had an impossible time getting the .380 Laser loaded?
The remote is only used to control the volume of your phone. There is nothing built in to the Laser Academy app that uses the remote that comes with the large tripod.
The two are not currently integrated, but you can certainly use them at the same time if your phone/tablet allows this. Otherwise, you may need two phones/tablets to run both apps simultaneously.
Please, someone explain to me how Google is NOT collecting all the data about shooters' location, caliber, accuracy, frequency, if the system involves an app?
Dude, if you have a phone with Google on it, they already have all your info. If your that worried, use an old phone that's not connected to a carrier and shut off location and WiFi to run your drills.
I just received it ...and the laser cartridge isnt working ...I removed the battery cover as instructed ...but not light coming from the cartridge...any suggestions
Try changing the batteries around. If that doesn't work, try replacing the batteries. And if that does work, please contact customer support and let them know of the issue.
@@MantisX I went to the website and chatted with the help desk...I didn't know there were 3 batteries that had to be inserted into the cartridge....I found the other batteries....and it now works!!!...thank you!!!
You can set what distance you're training at in the app. You'll want your phone within 1-2 yards of the targets so that it gets a clear picture of the targets, but you can move back to 7-8 when training without issue.
There are three LR626 watch batteries in the laser bullet that last for thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of shots. As far as setting it to stay lit longer, that isn't currently possible. The laser bullet works from a pressure-sensitive button on the back that is hit by your striker/firing pin.
Yes, Laser Academy will work with California compliant guns. To keep the slide from locking back, we recommend using our TRT trainers, available here: mantisx.com/collections/all-items/products/trt-tap-rack-dry-fire-safety-training-aid-9mm-40-cal-pistol-magazine-dummy-ammo-3-pack
Can’t seem to find the answer I’m looking for, so let me ask you since I noticed it while you were using the 10x Laser Academy. How did you get the sound of the gunshot when you pulled the trigger? I have not found an option for that. Thanks ahead of time.
When using Laser Academy, it will make this sound by default as long as you have sound enabled on your phone. When using the Mantis X10 Elite, you have to enable those sounds manually. If you're having issues with this, please reach out to us at Support@MantisX.com, and we are happy to help.
Only once, very 1st time have I been able to get this system to work when I was shooting from 7 yards. After that, no joy. Needs much more documentation.
All you would need is a second laser emitting device. It could be a second laser bullet for her gun, a SIRT training pistol, or any other laser training aid. The app and targets support two shooters out of the box.
The Laser Academy app is completely stand-alone from the Mantis X training system and app. The kit comes with the one Pink Rhino laser cartridge of your choice.
I was considering buying this system, but after considering certain factors, I failed to see how this system would effectively help without the real actual recoil, which is essentially part of the aiming- fire combination!

Yes, Laser Academy works on Android as well as Apple. If you have the .223 laser cartridge, you will have to rack the charging handle after each shot. Blackbeard will fix this problem. If you have the red or green Blackbeard it will work great with Laser Academy.

If that’s the case… You don’t need to own a gun… 😂😂😂😂😂 You’re extremely behind mentally
It depends on the gun. With KMR L-02 Orca I can just use the hammer
If you got a double action trigger then you don’t have to do that. Also get the Ttrigger magazine if u have a single action and you’ll be good

The two are not currently integrated, but you can certainly use them at the same time if your phone/tablet allows this. Otherwise, you may need two phones/tablets to run both apps simultaneously.
how can you do rapid fire drills without having to rack the slide between shots?
Laser Academy is not meant for rapid fire.
Please, someone explain to me how Google is NOT collecting all the data about shooters' location, caliber, accuracy, frequency, if the system involves an app?
Dude, if you have a phone with Google on it, they already have all your info. If your that worried, use an old phone that's not connected to a carrier and shut off location and WiFi to run your drills.
how far away can you be to shoot with this system?
Is it in the mean while possible to use the MantisX and laser academy together or do I have to use two devices?
I just received it ...and the laser cartridge isnt working ...I removed the battery cover as instructed ...but not light coming from the cartridge...any suggestions
Try changing the batteries around. If that doesn't work, try replacing the batteries. And if that does work, please contact customer support and let them know of the issue.
@@MantisX I went to the website and chatted with the help desk...I didn't know there were 3 batteries that had to be inserted into the cartridge....I found the other batteries....and it now works!!!...thank you!!!
@@tabasco1914 Glad to hear it!
Can I use a SIRT Pistol with this Mantis Laser Academy❓️
Can you do a distance further away then you did from the targets or you need to recalibrate each time for a particular distance?
Any distance is fine
I don't see where (maybe I missed it) that you list distance. I don't want to train at 2 yds away. I want at least 7-8 in most cases.
You can set what distance you're training at in the app. You'll want your phone within 1-2 yards of the targets so that it gets a clear picture of the targets, but you can move back to 7-8 when training without issue.
How many shots are there per laser bullet?
Can you set the laser bullet to keep it lit up more in a target?
There are three LR626 watch batteries in the laser bullet that last for thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of shots. As far as setting it to stay lit longer, that isn't currently possible. The laser bullet works from a pressure-sensitive button on the back that is hit by your striker/firing pin.
Could you buy six 38 laser cartridges and just keep pulling the trigger?
How’s your trigger going to reset?
@@hunterbiden7391 every pull in a revolver the trigger resets
Can you use the Rogers TRT Tap Rack with the Laser Academy?
Yes, you can use a TRT with a laser bullet at the same time.
Does it work on California guns? How do you keep the slide from locking back everytime? Do I need a special magazine to keep this from happening?
Yes, Laser Academy will work with California compliant guns.
To keep the slide from locking back, we recommend using our TRT trainers, available here: mantisx.com/collections/all-items/products/trt-tap-rack-dry-fire-safety-training-aid-9mm-40-cal-pistol-magazine-dummy-ammo-3-pack
Yes it works with California guns. Just take the spring and follower out of a magazine.
@@MantisX , thanks.
Only once, very 1st time have I been able to get this system to work when I was shooting from 7 yards. After that, no joy. Needs much more documentation.
Please reach out to us at Support@MantisX.com and we'd be happy to help you troubleshoot and issues you may have.
I plan on buying laser academy, what else would I need to buy that my wife and I can shoot same time?
All you would need is a second laser emitting device. It could be a second laser bullet for her gun, a SIRT training pistol, or any other laser training aid. The app and targets support two shooters out of the box.
What is better for a complete beginner? Laser academy or mantis X10?
We recommend starting with the X10
@@austinallgaier1022 thank you
Do you need an X2 or X3 to make this work or the Rhino laser insert?
The Laser Academy app is completely stand-alone from the Mantis X training system and app. The kit comes with the one Pink Rhino laser cartridge of your choice.
Is there a way to use this system without having to re rack the slide every time?
Yes
I was wondering the same
I was considering buying this system, but after considering certain factors, I failed to see how this system would effectively help without the real actual recoil, which is essentially part of the aiming- fire combination!
Dry fire is a tried and true technique to train in between range times. Our apps give you valuable data and feedback to keep improving. Has been used for decades by anyone that shoots. If you have any questions, please reach out to us.
Does it work with android phones? on the 223 laser cartridge do you have to rack everytime? do i still have to buy the blackbird system?
Yes, Laser Academy works on Android as well as Apple. If you have the .223 laser cartridge, you will have to rack the charging handle after each shot. Blackbeard will fix this problem. If you have the red or green Blackbeard it will work great with Laser Academy.
@@MantisX that was fun having your own firing range at home
Excellent customer service
Highly recommended
how does it work with an apple phone?
found my answer in another post apple yes.
The targets seem awful small. Can you utilize any paper targets with this?
Only the smart targets
