    A system that produces Information NOT Data about your shooting technique. An incredibly valuable asset to help me improve as a shooter. Hardware, software and support are all great. Worth every penny and I say that as a tight-fisted Yorkshireman!

    So there is no actual target to aim at ? So this is measuring movement, but no accuracy.
    So the quicker you come up to target and pull the trigger the less it can evaluate target to actual trigger pull?

    • @libertyhog1428
      @libertyhog1428 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      It's a bit tricky to actually wrap one's mind around it.
      In short: it can be done with sensors and Algorithms that can track firearm movement before, during, and after the trigger press.
      If there's considerable movement before, during, and/or after the trigger break then you're not* going to hit what was aimed at with a real bullet or on this trainer.
      If the firearm doesn't deviate much immediately before, during, and after the trigger breaks then you will* hit what you're aiming at.
      Now since this thing doesn't have some fixed point you aim at and it measures Deviation from center (like laser trainers... or good ole bullet into paper), it can't provide a direct accuracy like what you're thinking of.
      Inbuilt in this trainer is the assumption that where your sights settle is where the "target" is; and then it measures how far you deviate from the imaginary target immediately before, during, and immediately after the trigger press.
      So it's sort of a measure of how much one does, or doesn't pull the shot during and after pulling the trigger.
      And that translates almost directly to hitting a real target with real bullets (wind, elevation, distance holds, and other variables not withstanding).
      It's worth noting that this trainer (well the X3 and X10 model anyways) can work with live fire, so it can be checked against real world results. A high score on the Mantis would correlate to a tight group, a low score on the Mantis with a open group on paper; and the spider chart on the Mantis would reflect the group dispersion on the actual target.
      I haven't gotten a chance to take this thing for live fire yet so I am curious to see how accurately it matches the holes on target.

      @MantisX  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@paulmalutinok7221 It doesn't now. The analysis and feedback does not require knowing the target or the distance to the target. This makes the system very flexible.

    • @raplopez4258
      @raplopez4258 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would imagine, that it doesn't necessarily track accuracy, but rather the deviation of the muzzle upon squeezing the trigger. If the muscle does not deviate at all upon squeezing the trigger, perhaps you will earn 100% score.

    The only thing that bothers me is mantis makes a big deal about it fitting unless you don't have a rail but then nickle and dimes people for an adapter to fit one of the most popular weapons out right now the p365. At the price you should have a selection drop down so people can tell you what they are buying it for and provide it to your customers as part of the package. It doesn't make sense to have it separated and it feels misleading.

    I just got the Mantis X and ordered the specific mag baseplate rail for my Beretta 92S. I can't see how to remove the existing baseplate on my magazine and install the new one. • @MantisX
      @MantisX  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Larry, to replace the baseplate, you will use a punch of some kind to depress the round pin on the bottom of the magazine to allow it to be removed. Then slide off the existing one and slide the replacement onto the bottom of the magazine. The round pin will click back into place when the new baseplate is locked in place. Be careful when pulling the stock base plate off. The internals of the magazine is spring-loaded.

    • @MantisX

  • @KoopaTroopa013
    @KoopaTroopa013 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    How does the device know what you’re aiming at and how inaccurate that first shot may have been? How does the device tell if your follow up shots were off or not if it doesn’t know what the target is?? Is the first shot just always logged as dead center and you need to try and aim where ever that first shot was taken? Genuinely interested just curious how this device actually tracks accuracy if there is no physical target to log accuracy data. If you can use anything as a target wouldn’t the first shot always be 100% accurate?

    • @MantisX
      @MantisX  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The MantisX is a sensor that attaches to the outside of your firearm and senses all the movement of your firearm and gives that data back to the MantisX app to show you what is going on and how to improve. By reducing movement and practicing fundamentals, your shot placement at the range will ultimately improve.

      @@InternetSavage No. There are 3 main systems : electric, gas and spring. With the spring systems, you have to rack each time. They're mainly used on shotgun replicas, or small arms (for cheap replicas). The electric replicas use batteries, it's called AEG. It's mainly used for rifle replicas due to the size of the batteries.
      So for a pistol, it can be spring or gas. For gas replica, there are also 2 sub-category : blow back or not. Blow back mimics the recoil of the slide.
      I have a replica of my real handgun (Glock 17), so I can train at home also ;-) I train dryfire also, but airsoft is fun. You can practice reload, aiming...

    • @MantisX

      The system detects the point of aim prior to each shot. Using this, it can tell you how far off that point of aim your shot would have been given the movement that was detected before, during, and after the shot. You can aim at the center of a target, or any other part, and the feedback will be provided regardless of the part of the target you choose to aim at for a given repetition or drill. This is because each shot is analyzed to determine the point of aim for that one shot independent of any other shot in the session. This function is not dependant on any lighting conditions or distance to the target.
      Each shot is represented over a simulated bullseye target within the app. You can aim at a silhouette target, bullseye target, or anything else (a lamp, lightswitch, or blank wall) and the same analysis and feedback will be provided.
      If that does not clarify, please let me know what other questions remained and we'll answer them.
