Holy shit. You're a life saver. I recently used this method on my Lenovo Legion 5 I purchased a month ago. The laptop would constantly make an irritating coil whine noise every time I would use the trackpad. Now it's as silent as a mouse. I can't recommend this video enough.
Worked for me on an ASUS TUF 505GM with a GTX 1060 and i7-8750H Another thing you can do with throttlestop, is dial in a slight undervolt to the CPU, which will reduce the heat production, and on a laptop, this can improve performance.
Amazingly, ThrottleStop does not support AMD. Nevertheless, I see many people were able to fix their coil whine and I feel very happy for them. Good video!

Worked for lenovo loq 16 2023 model with rtx 4050 and i5-13420H, i bought it used and guy sold it insanely cheap beacuse of what im guessing this coilwhine was really bad on the device. Now it is in perfect condition! 300 usd for a brand new gaming lenovo! :)
@@1017trap Yes it works. But the manipulation only fix the annoying coil noise. You might be interested in also lower the CPU temperature while gaming with a few extra tricks in throttlestop settings (I had 95°C with this model and a lot of noise while gaming and it's really, really too hot). I watched this vid : th-cam.com/video/y_q75wVoTEw/w-d-xo.html and managed to lower the temp of the CPU to 80°C while gaming (with less fan noise as a consequence too) and I believe it will extend the laptop's life in the long run.
@@1017trap for me the coil noise is really linked to the checkbox C1E in throttlestop. When I approach myself to the keyboard and listen carefully I can hear it. If I uncheck the box C1E the whining immediately goes away. If I check it the noise comes back right away .

@@bruzm.1737 yes it works like a charm. But sometimes it comes back after waking up from hibernating, which requires a restart to fix. But usually it is fine, and works great.
OK I did everything but it hasn't changed, i think it may have actually increased the annoying ass coil whine shit. but a "workaround" I did was to only max up my LED's and the frequency was so high I can't hear it anymore lol

C states limit your cpu when it's in an idle state.. by disabling it, your cpu will be working at 100% all the time, even when left idle. Some see this as a good thing, it can be. But it causes higher idle temperatures, and consumes more power since it doesn't sleep. Battery life may decrease significantly depending on what you normally do with it unplugged. But if you own a gaming laptop this doesn't matter cause your laptop wont last long unplugged anyway 😆

They all have it, but some are more audible than the other. using the warranty might just make it worst or created a problem.., asus RMA are not as good as they were

a bios update probably reset the throttlestop. Redue the procedure. This is common. Laptops bios updates usually remove throttlestops set up.

Try and pinpoint what the noise is coming from. It's likely your cpu but it can be a number of things like your PSU or GPU etc. Try undervolting your cpu with throttlestop or intel xtu a little bit at a time to see if it will reduce the noise. You might want to look up your laptop/pc and make sure you dont undervolt it 2 much. Coil whine won't necessarily damage anything but can be really annoying
