@DoctorBenjyFM hadn’t joined us for a video in a while, so I figured it was time to bring him back in to break down the wildest tactics that twitter had to offer. Well, not wildest tactics, but the best tactic you had to see how we would rate it. Football Manager is such an art that boiling down how effective a tactic is into one number requires a lot of high-brow conversation between two long-time pros, or whatever this is.
I have gotten more involved in tactical discussion in this version of the game. FM22 has provided me with a window (and has come at the right time for me to feel comfortable enough) to assess and create my own tactics to try to help you all out in your FM adventures. The Pep tactic video is just the beginning, but it shouldn’t always be me in a factory churning out the best tactics we can find. You may honestly have stumbled across the perfect Football Manager tactic before we made it in a lab, I suppose we’re about to find out.

Is the last tactic for matches where your team is superior, you know, one-sided games? I don't think its as bad as Ben makes out... it's all right. That said, it still feels like something's been left out. Okay jokes aside... the right side.

Can confirm, lost 6-1 to 15th place Górnik Zabrze as Lech Poznań after not losing a game for 40 league matches.
I've ran all three CBs on attack duty out of curiosity and it wasn't as open as you might think as generally only one of the three will go forward at any given time, all three being set to attack means only that they're all allowed to go far forward at an appropriate time and not that they will all always be flying up the pitch.
I was thinking that too.

Okay, the “all-right” tactic was weird … but that “dice dreams” tactic is absolutely bonkers. I don’t see how that’s going to work on the pitch at all.
Thanks for taking a look at my tactic! Initially it wasn’t meant to be totally serious, I just really wanted to test out wcb’s and see if they could be relied on as the width in attack. It actually surprised me with how well it worked though. We started off the season hot and were fighting for champions league football until an end of season collapse saw us just miss out on the Europa League. It worked amazingly at holding possession which was our main source of defense. Surprisingly the biggest struggle at the end of the season was scoring with any consistency as our AMC’s and IF’s just couldn’t find the back of the net. It felt more of a personnel issue than tactical one though as we created loads of chances. Live ball turnovers from out iwb’s were our main trouble defensively but if we were able to regroup the amc’s dropped back pretty nicely and we had a solid defensive shape. I definitely think it has potential solely as a possession tactic there’s just not many teams out there with the personnel to run it.
Y'all should have a look at their data hub output if they're sending saves. You can totally see how it's working out in their league!

Wow, thanks for the input! Incidentally my tactic won the Championship - but you're definitely right and I did switch up the CM role after this to an Auto and Support role depending on circumstances, especially in the EPL. Since it's been a nightmare to get a good performance out of the Left IF I might have to change that role up or drop it back to left mid.
Oh, and I'm definitely subbing to Benji after that rating. :P
Just put everyone on attack in a basic 433 and the team would actually do well
This is why I'd love to see a "practice " mode in FM, similar to Madden.
It's kinda silly that we have to try out new tactics in a match and not in training.
Even if its just a friendly.
I'm sitting here, wanting to see the Hard Right tactic in play, but I'm not about to do it in my current save.
And I'm not going to start a whole new save , just to try it out.
FIFA Manager has a Friendly mode tbh...
This is why you would schedule an intrasquad friendly. It’s not realistic to have a practice mode where you get to try out different tactics with no impact to your save world. If a real manager wants to practice a new tactic in a match-like setting, they will play a match in practice (an intrasquad friendly)
@@jpeters1734 yeah but if I really wanted to I could have 2 versions of the same save and have 1 to test tactics so there's still a (even if its more inconvenient) way to do it
Intrasquad friendly is a good idea though
7:19 reminds me of a hyper-attacking version of the 5-2-3 I regularly run if I get a great Libero.
But instead of the 2 AMCs I have 2MC on Mezzala (attack for homegames, support for away games) and I keep my Wide Center Backs on Defend.
Interesting to see two Mezzalas in this setup. I regularly run a 5-2-3 and stick with two generic CM's or two BtB players with literally every defender on support as well.
I usually play something like this as an alternative for my main 4-1-5, i always play with a inside foward, a inverted winger, a attacking midfielder and a shadow striker with a target man in front. So sometimes i drop back the deep lying playmaker for the libero role, and go with attacking inverted wingers, but i keep the Libero and the WCBs on Support.

Switched to the last tactic in the last 10 minutes of a game I was leading 3-0, without to much attention to roles and instructions. Got two extra goals of of it. It works!
Yo Z, you have to make a video of replicating that last tactic and showing us what happens in the match engine, also if you set an instruction to focus play down the left
Used that first tactic in many saves including an online one with very good seasoned fm players and it’s done well for me. Also won me the premier league offline with Leicester in the first season

The last tactic is made funnier by it being obvious the dude just loaded up a team, and created this whilst making no changes to the lineup. This is just the starting lineup of Shrewsbury in League One.

Listen, I def understand Benji’s frustration w that last tactic. But I really want to see how it plays now lol
in FM22 you could actually change the wb with wcb, it's like having 2 layers of offense in the wing side, and very strong in the middle.
I really liked that last tactic. It just feels RIGHT.

I've used something similar to the last one before. It can work but it is just overloads both ways, you're players will still be dragged over sometimes

I've played the inverse of the final tactic plenty of times. You should shuffle some roles and positions a bit, but a column ignoring half of the field is far better than anyone is giving it credit for.

About that first tactic: I basically just used that one in fm18 with counter mentality, direct passing and passing into space and won the DFB Pokal and CL with Schalke in my fourth year. We finished 3. In the League btw.
It's definitely not your every day tactic though.

Did you also notice that they changed the mentality for Inverted Wingers and False Nines on Support duty to attacking? Also, strikers no longer get further forward
Tactic number 3 is what I have been creating since FM 2018 but it never worked until FM 22 with WCB. The tactic still has flaws and concede goals against teams with better number 10s/CAM
I wonder what would happen if both teams were playing with the last tactic. Basically each would own it's own half of the field 😂

I want to say that SecretBase did an experiment with the final formation as part of their Fumble Dimension series, but I can't remember if they had a formation like this or an even worse one

I remember playing last years mod for Fifa Manager 13 and getting Kozlowski for Bochum. After a year or two he wanted to move on to a bigger club, refused to extend his contract. Couldnt re-sign him, but nobody else made a move so after like 6 months of free agency and rejecting my offers he just decided to retire at like 23.
I think the 3-5-2 "Why ist it working so good" is a FM21 tactic. Only reason is because it says "More Urgent" instead of the newer "More Often" regarding the pressing. Granted, you didn't specifically say we had to submit tactics from FM22, but I'd be interested to know how it works, or IF it works, in the new match engine.

Once I have an established team I play a super attacking formation of 3 2 3 2 with possession and it works well. You blow teams away

Next time yous should try the tactics with the same team in the same match (like save scumming) to see which actually perform well.
Some of these are very catered to the players and would be demolished if not used by said team

How'd the second tactic get that second picture where you could see the average position of the players?
If you go to your schedule and select a match you’ve completed you can go to the analytics screen and there’s an option to see the average positions of players with the ball.
That last one deserved a 0.75 out of 10.

First tactic is peak "I only play the easiest teams". Great for when you're playing Zagreb or Salzburg, and just want to clown on some garbage teams in the domestic league.
The 3rd tactic looked a thing of beauty.

Hi, i have a question. I am in a save in Camacha in Portuguese 4th division or Campeonato Portgual Prio. The issue with this club is that almost all of the players are here in a "part time". Now i have budget to give them a full time contract. If all of them are in a full time contract will i be able to do a normal training session? Because here i can only train 2 or 3 times a week.

Just wondering, what's your team professional status? From what you said, I have a feeling your team is still semi-professional, so I think it's better to ask your board to turn your team professional status to "professional" first instead. Also, I don't think your players will train full week after you give them full-time contract if your team is still semi-professional

I got an idea for a video for you. What to do when you are too poor to renew a player's contract and the entire team then gets mad at you for not doing it.
Just happened to me :| I tried saying that ill negociate a new contract at the end of the season(wjen perhaps i could geyher some more money) cus he wouldnt accept the biggest contract i could afford but it didnt work...
When you speak to your other players you can tell them that you can't afford a new contract. Pretty sure you can anyway. If you've already spoke to them then maybe ask your board for a bit more money. Have you tried altering your budget also? If you've done all this already then maybe the only other option would be to sell a player you don't want to free up some money to go to your wage budget.
