just to note, updating your bios may enable secure boot, so if you're having problems booting up or think you are stuck in a no signal loop, first try ctrl+alt+del and enter bios to disable it

First time noob here, a word of advice - pay attention to MSI description post - bios update. It says change default boot setting, I thought that was a repair as part of the update. Nope! After getting BSOD, I had to disable secure boot, now PC operates properly. Hope this saves someone time and the hassle of trying to re-image their machine!

back in the day we didn't have images. we would boot from floppys-which would give us a command prompt and HOPEFULLY had the proper cd-rom driver. if it did, we'd be able to run the windows setup from here. this is how you clean install. these days its easier. can boot from USB flash drives and it just goes directly to a GUI installer. anyway: Windows media creation tool. or rufus if you want to make your own-use only trusted isos

Wouldn't let me see it ever on Displayport. 2nd: contrary to manufacturer instructions of having my USB formatted to Fat32/ exFat, I could only read the file through NTFS. 1. Unzip the downloaded bios file
    2. Open the folder from the unzipped file
    3. Copy the file with a .A10 extension onto a FAT32 flash drive.
    4. Reboot while holding Del key to enter BIOS
    5. Select M-Flash
    6. Select that .A10 file from before.
Why can't this be in text on your website? I get that some people need a video guide. But it would take so little work to have a text version for people who know how to move a file.

It's the first time ever I had to update BIOS as I've never done it before and these steps really helped me, was indeed easy to follow and I was able to download and update my PRO Z790-P WIFI to the latest version using these steps even though they are for different MB, but the steps were identical. Side note for someone doing it. Make sure to check the back of your desktop or the front to see if you have a special BIOS Flash USP port. In my case my MSI Aegis RS 13NUF-439US / Intel Core i7 13th Gen 13700KF PC had a special USB Port called BIOS Flash, it also had a BIOS Flash button, but I did not use it, I followed this video guide and used a USB Flash, formatted it, make sure to format it in case you had anything on it before, just plug it in into you usual non BIOS usb ports, once it loads, mouse right click on the drive and click Format, this will proactively wipe out thievery you had on it, so make sure if you had some files stored on there you wanted to keep to transfer them elsewhere. Once formatted just follow this guide, copy your downloaded BIOS file over onto it like shows in the video, then mouse right click and Eject it as shows in video, take it out of regular USB port and like it was in my case I plugged my USB Flash into the BIOS Flash USB port in the back of my desktop tower and then the rest was exactly as shown on the video, access BIOS, select the folder/file and proceed with the update. Tried finding my earlier reply. Wasn't able to. So, an update. The reason the driver wasn't turning up on my usb drive was because it was the wrong BIOS for this motherboard. It turns out that m-flash has a built in identifier to differentiate between what is the appropriate driver for the motherboard and what is not. I found the correct driver (through fumbling around on msi website) and it works just fine. Everything updated and now running latest BIOS for my motherboard (z490 Plus, not "Z490 Gaming Plus").

Followed the provided instructions in the video. However on reboot I was prompted with an MBR Error 1 - Press any key to boot from floppy... Message. Basically the boot sequence was incorrect. You need to select, chose different operating system, (for me the default was Windows 10, but the second option was Windows 10 Home).
After switching to Windows 10 Home, it boots in fine! But you must select that as the defualt to avoid the same windows repair each time you boot the system!

There is a big flaw in this video if it supposed to be a guide for every user!
It says that after downloading the BIOS file, extracting it and putting on a flash drive, that then one should "eject the USB flash drive and restart the system".
Then next comes rebooting, pressing DEL to go into the BIOS, enter M-Flash mode and restart again after which one is to select the BIOS file on the USB flash drive - which must then require some sort of magic since following the instructions the drive is not connected.
I am sorry, but if the video is supposed to help people it needs to be accurate and not skip things.
PS. While we are at it, the written instructions on the MSI webpage is flawed as well. In step 1 it says to check the current BIOS version, then in step 2 it says to "Download the new BIOS version that matches the current BIOS version number." which seems to suggest one should flash the current BIOS with a file of the identical version - only how is the supposed to be a upgrade??!!!!

If needed the PDF and the video could also come in "quick guide" versions, then both the experienced and the novice users would get great service.

If your USB flash drive doesn’t show the BIOS file when you go to update, read this, because I found this online and it was the solution for me:
“This suggests that your BIOS is a custom one. They do this sometimes when it's used in a complete PC, they put a special BIOS version on there, and then you can't update with the official BIOS that MSI offer for the mainboard. You have to look for specific BIOS updates for your complete PC.
You can confirm this by entering the BIOS and looking carefully at the BIOS version name before the dot. Instead of "E7B61IMS" of the official BIOS for this board, you then might have a different number there, or the last letters will be different like ...IMT.
You then have two options: Try to find the correct BIOS for your board. Often times, the custom BIOS will have less updates, or it's difficult to get a BIOS update. Renaming the BIOS update file is not enough, M-FLASH will still decline the update if it doesn't match your board's model”

I actually couldn’t even update my BIOS on my MSI because after their support sent me the wrong BIOS 2 times, they then said my PC is a custom “Canadian version” and therefore the BIOS from 2020 doesn’t have any updates. Needless to say I am not happy with MSI either.

I had to do this to my bios becuase i used the secure erase+ for ssds button. It would turn on, display a white line then stop and nothing else would happen at all. There was a white led next to vga but i have an f series intel cpu so no way of figuring that out.

In 95% of the cases, what Storm Blessed said is correct. But I have seen on more than one occasion, certain BIOS FW updates don't necessarily need to step through each individual FW version, but there could be something you HAVE to flash to in order to then flash to the latest. Seen this with server motherboard BMCs, and certain brands of NICs.
In this 5% scenario, when downloading the FW file, there should be some callout or warning about this. Or it just may fail the FW update until you can read the release notes on the FW versions and find the correct update path to get to the latest.
