  • RUSH - 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. RUSH Performances, Finale and "Backstage"
After recently posting some of my personal videos of RUSH, I decided to post their 2013 Induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Taylor Hawkins and Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters had the honor of inducting RUSH at the 2013 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
Followed by RUSH's Acceptance Speeches Rush and members of Foo Fighters perform "2112: Overture."
The Legendary Canadian Power Trio then remain on stage alone to perform their massive hits, Tom Sawyer and The Spirit of Radio!
During the finale performance of "Cross Road Blues" RUSH are joined on stage for a super-jam by fellow newly inducted Public Enemy and Heart and additional performers Dave Grohl, Darryl DMC McDaniels, John Fogerty, Tom Morello, Gary Clark Jr. and Chris Cornell.
Stick around to the end for a little backstage BONUS.
    Enjoy!
If you enjoy the video, please give it a Like and SUBSCRIBE!
    RIP Neil Peart.

Rush is the only band for me that means so much more than just the music on its own. They are/ were so easy to follow. Every year since 1974 they have given us an album ( remember those), no band fights that we heard of, no sign of drug abuse, maybe a little drug use. Each album they grew and it always took two or three listens before you get it. Then try you learn the lyrics, bass part and of course the drums. And no matter what they did you loved them, and you found certain songs you didn't like but you still listen. I love this band, if it matters or not I'm a 65 year old black man who grew up in a hood, thats how universal Rush is. I miss going to see them live. My first show was them opening for Kiss in Atlanta.

That rare smile from Neil @ 25:22 warms my heart. It's been so much loss and heartache in the past 10 years, we lost both drummers who played in these performances, politics and war and disease have destroyed lives and hurt so many people. But yet we have their music to inspire us and bring us joy. Seeing him smile like that makes me so happy. I'm so sad for him that he was cheated of his time with his family after his career. I wish I could have seen Rush live and never will, but am so glad they were able to be honored here. They say you only really die the last time someone speaks your name. Rush-A farewell to Kings tour with UFO-Lights Out How cool is / was that right? as a kid in 1977 14 years old in 8th grade discovering the Power of Rock n roll ( thanks Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush too).. What I remember most about that night was Xanadu, As Xanadu began With Geddy manipulating powerful sounds never heard such power beating against my chest from the keyboards & double neck bass & the fog machine mist filling the air.. Neil raking his sticks across chimes and Alex sending out this tone great anthem announcement sounds from his doubleneck guitar.. as if to say... WE ARE RUSH ! IT JUST TAKES ME BACK EVERYTIME I SEE THEIR ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME INDUCTION DAY CELEBRATION! to 1977 Here we are 2023. In 1982, I was 11 years old, and one particular song from the album "Moving Pictures" had me hooked for a lifetime - "Red Barchetta." In that same year, I began to learn how to play the guitar. By 1983, I was able to play their songs for the first time, "The Trees"
and It was the start of my musical journey until today.

Jan 7th. 2020. I sat at my desk tears streaming. My beautiful wife of 20 years, walked into my office. I'd been blaring my spotify RUSH channel for about 8-9 hours straight. She saw a news blurb that Neil had passed. The third time I met the band she was with me. No words needed said she knew that that was a regrettable , yet poignant. day for me.. No other band shaped my perception of music, especially my drumming.
The fact that it took until 2013 for this to happen is insane. Dave and Taylor were the perfect choices to induct RUSH, both being true drummers and also personal friends of the band.

And in some cases, intertwined with the Dead's fan base. I'm a 57-year-old deadhead who's loved Rush since I first heard "Fly By Night" on the radio when I was all of 9 years old. First concert: 1/26/80 at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY -- just a few months after my first Dead show the previous October. Good times both.

So much talent concentrated in three musical geniuses. I'm a grown man that cried watching their Hall of Fame induction.
