No matter how old you get. Your kids will always be kids for you. Cliff's dad referred to them as young men. He is a class act! . God bless him and his late son. Hope they reunite in a better place. METALLICA RULES!!!!!
Metallica is the best. I'm from Malaysia. I have been a Metallica fan since 1986 when i was only 12 years old. Imagine how far their music has reached back then. With no internet or whatever. They really rocks.
This is one thing I love about them. They bring people together. People that ordinarily would never meet. People of all races, backgrounds, socioeconomic classes. People who don’t even speak the same language are brought together, even for just a moment because of their music. I have been in countries out of the US and wearing a Metallica shirt or seeing someone in one and every single time I’ve had or I’ve seen small interactions between music fans. Even if they don’t speak the same language it’s clear what they are communicating. Just a point, a smile, a wave. I don’t find a lot of good in humanity anymore but THIS kind of thing gives me hope.
Me too. It reminds of Extreme Championship Wrestling, better known as ECW. That and The singapore cane swinging, beer guzzling, cigarette smoking ECW Hardcore Legend, THE SANDMAN.
Enter Sandman was what got me lifting weights. I went from being a fat slob to totally jacked, because when I heard that song I said hell yeah, I got a grab something heavy and start swinging it around
flea's speech conveys EXACTLY how i felt at my introduction to Metallica at 17 yrs old, sitting in my friend's basement playing his bootleg tapes, when "one" came on. my heart stopped. i have never heard anything like it- it was love at first note. That is Metallica. it grabs you at your core and you dont even know why. you finally found what you had needed all along, and from now on, you're going to be ok. they have saved my life in more ways than one, and i will be eternally grateful
They all deserve this, I love that they included Jason as well and I love the fact that they all performed in their suits/shirts instead of going to get changed first
Seeing Rob and Jason playing bass together is incredible. I know Cliff Burton was Cliff Burton, but for those of us who grew up on 90's Metallica (although I love ALL Metallica) and into the 2000's, those are the two faces of Metallica on bass. LOVE Jason Newsted, and am SO happy they had him perform for this.
Cliff is great god rest his soul, Rob best bass player, Jason “Newkid” Newsted is just what Metallica is, with his gritty voice and his sick Headbanging it’s a shame they mistreated him
Seen tons of these hall of fame inductions, this was the first and only one that has ever brought tears to my eyes multiple times throughout the hour. Metallica forever and always. RIP Cliff Burton and condolences to the Burton family for their loss but they will always be in our hearts and forever be a part of Metallica because in life and in death, Cliff has moved so many of us with his talent and passion. Thankyou Jason and Rob for all you have and continue to do for this incredible phenomenon of a band and going above and beyond to ensure that the show must go on for the fans. What a powerful moment in rock n roll history. Thankyou Metallica, for being one of the best to ever do it
“Rock n roll is about possibilities”. That was the sentence that stuck with me since this first got aired. Plus you have to appreciate the fact, that everyone had their speeches prepared. Lars just went for it and killed it.
Man Flea speech was straight to the point yet so articulate and hearty. James mood shifting from dad jokes at the beginning to eye tears was soemthing to see.
If they were in the HoF, it would have no meaning. (Alas, like several rappers and pop artists there.) Just because you like a group doesn’t mean they should be in the HoF. Same with sports HoFs.
I wanna thank Lars for calling me so we can include each other in our dreams of being the greatest metal band in the world. He. This ending of the speech is f*cking amazing.
shit man, I would love to see Jason, James, Kirk, Lars and Rob play together from now on, It would be so fantastic to see all 5 of them playing together and having fun, wow...
Tears were brought to my eyes watching this. I first discovered Metallica at Wofford College basketball games when they used to play “Enter Sandman”. I didn’t fully get into them until I was in high school. Metallica has been there when I was sad. Metallica has been there when I was angry. Finally, Metallica has been there when I was happy. They are the ultimate band and I’d give every member a hug if I could. Thanks for the great tunes!
Rip Jeff Beck. That guy was amazing.. Metallica will always be amazing too me. My greatest influence and inspiration, my favorite band of all time. Especially the earlier days.
Metallica is my band for ever. I loved them sense I was a kid .I first heard them when I was like 12 years old .I'm 47 now .I blast my Metallica #1 for ever !
I was raised in the Bay Area. Metallica was our band. Mandatory Metallica nights on the radio. Live Metallica jam on KSJO with Jerry Cantrell, Gary Rossington and others. Metallica made the Bay Area exciting with music. Thrash was the Bay Area. They are and will always be the the SF Bay Area musical heros. I have seen them in small clubs, seen them killing it in front of thousands, my favorite was years ago at the Shoreline in Mountain View. I was fortunate to be about 20 feet center stage. They killed it. From the start to the finish. They proved why they are the best of the best. Long live Metallica! Love 72 Seasons! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Love Metallica always will. Even did a book report when "And Justice For All" came out in high school, I got an A! Now 25yrs later and a professional, I still bring out my CD's and rock out like I did back then.

I looove Kirk. Such a sweet person, such a badass guitarist. Respect🤘
Me to. My son has the same birthday as him.
Ha he still sounds like a teenager
And gives the best BJ’s out of them all
Fleas comments about Cliff really got me going. My childhood hero band.
+TheFunkytownGotcha Flea and Cliff are my top inspirations to my bass playing :D
I was just waiting for Lars to grab the mic and shout:
" HE FUCKING LEFT THE BAND!!!!!!!!" hahahahah
yeah!
that would've been so hilarious xD
id like it even better if he jumped up to the mic and shout OKAY IM TWAT!!!
HE LEFT THE FOCKING BAND!!!!
🤣🤣
The crowd roaring when Jason came up just shows how much he was loved
Cliff Burton's mom's tears broke my heart, litterally
@Andrew Salter lars mom correct? bc his dad was below in the screen
Cliffs Mother died 1993 🙄🙄
I remember being in science class and some other metalhead kid told me Cliff Burton had just died. Bummer day.
How did he get the news? I'm 22 years old, im wondering how he got the news of his death when it happened in 1986?
Kevin Lacayo the newspaper
@@fakelaw8123 ahh that's right, i did not process newspaper in my mind.
Kevin Lacayo of course you didn’t, you’re 22. These days, with the internet, you can find out if someone dies before they die! 😂😂
@@kevinlacayo822 Indeed. It was on MTV News as well.
I will never get tired of listening to Jason's vocals!!
Awww that hug that James and Lars had at the end brought tears to my eyes...
Same here....
But no love for the Reaper!!
Me too bro🤘

No matter how old you get. Your kids will always be kids for you. Cliff's dad referred to them as young men. He is a class act! . God bless him and his late son. Hope they reunite in a better place. METALLICA RULES!!!!!
Omg! Cliff's dad is so freakin sweet i shed a tear when he start talking :') and Cliff's mom cryin too, this is too much!
That was not Cliff's mom.
The hug just proved that Lars was James first wife
Hahahha
I've always loved Lars's speaking voice, it's so cool.
You need to hear Jim Breuer's impression of Lars then.
@@chadfkennedy omg yes thats hilarious
Yup ,, lars is the limb of Metallica
i'm so glad it's not just me, like if i could make my voice sound like someone else, it would be his lmao
Lars is underated, I don't get why people always rag on him, was it the whole Napster thing?
Cliffs dad has joined him......Hey Cliff you won't be alone no more bud
naw he wasn’t alone he had his brother
@@sufferyetgain most people don’t know about cliffs brother, that’s why he wanted to be the best bass player he could possibly be
He had his brother and mother.
So glad to see Jason up on stage with them.
The first Metallica song I ever heard was Enter Sandman :) It's the one that got me to metal :D Thanks Metallica!
1st Metallica song Seek N' Destroy in 1983
The Four Horsemen for me. First Metallica song I ever heard, first song I learned on guitar. To this day it's still my favorite
#Metoo
Cliffs parents brought a tear to my eye. It was so awesome to see Jason up on stage too
having rob and newsted do bass vocals made them more metal
They sounded great together! Who says they couldn’t have 2 bass players if they wanted to?! 😁
Es Jason! Rob siempre está y no tiene esa potencia
I teared up when I saw Cliff's mother.
OK Canadian bacon lol jk
That actually isn’t cliff’s mother. His mother died in 1993. Idk who it is.
LOLLLOLOL KIRK!!!!!!!!!!!! you'de think as many times hes been on stage he wouldnt get nervous anymore but my fkin word i LOve it and him!!
Seeing Jason and Robert together makes me so happy 😭😭 love metallica
See Cliff's mother cry was truly heart-breaking
flea's speech conveys EXACTLY how i felt at my introduction to Metallica at 17 yrs old, sitting in my friend's basement playing his bootleg tapes, when "one" came on. my heart stopped. i have never heard anything like it- it was love at first note.
Cliff is great god rest his soul, Rob best bass player, Jason “Newkid” Newsted is just what Metallica is, with his gritty voice and his sick Headbanging it’s a shame they mistreated him
That James and Lars moment had me tearing up, so beautiful
Yes
Man.. i cant help but imagine if Cliff never died, sad that he had to go so soon.. Shaking the heavens with his beautiful mastery, rock on!
But you have to remember the two men and there families who stood on that stage tonight, came from that tragedy. God always gets the glory.
Love how Jason played here. Sharing again the stage with his brothers 💕
2:02 Jason was such an amazing live performer. Was always for the fans
James obviously wasn't able to warm his vocals up
Mike Riddle He sounds good during "Train" though
+Mike Riddle they all sounded better during train
Holy shit hahaahahahhahhhhahahaahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhahhaahhaahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahah
+Mike Riddle Yes :'D It's so funny.
You can tell he's still grounded as well. He has always been "shy", you can tell nerves got to him, but yeah he clearly didn't get to warm up.
Thankyou Metallica, for being one of the best to ever do it
What an amazing speech of Jason!
“Rock n roll is about possibilities”. That was the sentence that stuck with me since this first got aired. Plus you have to appreciate the fact, that everyone had their speeches prepared. Lars just went for it and killed it.
Shoulda done Orion or For Whom the Bell Tolls
But Enter Sandman and Master Of Puppets are 2 of their most well known songs
until it sleeps
@@paradigmshiftz7 you beat me to iy
49:00 Look at all these legends in one stage. Beck, Page, Perry, Wood, Flea and then Metallica
4:58 James is such a good father!
We love you Jason you always will be a Metallica member.
Lars just going off no script is so Lars but also so perfect… he really spoke from his heart and gotta love it
43:31 sums up why I love Hetfield as a performer.Plays every song like it's his first or last
Cliff is a legend, Rob is amazing and phenomenal, but I will pay to see Jason again with Metallica.
Man Flea speech was straight to the point yet so articulate and hearty. James mood shifting from dad jokes at the beginning to eye tears was soemthing to see.
Suicidal 4 life...Robert Trujillo remembered who gave him his start....awesome...S.T.4.L. Suicidal Tendencies belongs in the hall of fame...Period
Only great bands go into the R&R Hall Of Fame. That's why ST isn't there. Period.
If they were in the HoF, it would have no meaning. (Alas, like several rappers and pop artists there.) Just because you like a group doesn’t mean they should be in the HoF. Same with sports HoFs.
Trujillo was the only thing worth a damn from that band. The idea that he owes it anything is absurd.
I wanna thank Lars for calling me so we can include each other in our dreams of being the greatest metal band in the world. He.
This ending of the speech is f*cking amazing.
16:26 whoever screamed “JASON” is so real for that LMAO
shit man, I would love to see Jason, James, Kirk, Lars and Rob play together from now on, It would be so fantastic to see all 5 of them playing together and having fun, wow...
At 10:37 you can see James tear up from hearing Flea's speech about Cliff.
No. You can't. He's not crying
@@crieverytim he looks like he’s holding himself back a bit when he goes “wow”.
@@crieverytim
He’s not crying, no, but he is tearing up. You can tell the beautiful words Flea had for Cliff really impacted him.
46:08 James Hetfield gentlemen!
I feel that James still has his old voice but he doesn't want to use it because he's grown old
Jason Newsted man.. so inspirational.
9:38, James gets so emotional when flea talks about Cliff...
Reporter- "Let's go back to the stage and see what Lars has to say"
Lars- "Um...."
This comment doesn’t have enough likes!

Metallica is my band for ever. I loved them sense I was a kid .I first heard them when I was like 12 years old .I'm 47 now .I blast my Metallica #1 for ever !
Metallica with Jason is just awesome !!!!!
What a beautiful and powerful speech from Flea. It was lovely that they brought Cliff's dad up with them, I really felt for his mum.
Aw Ray is so adorable 😭❤️
I love them so much
lol, Kirk always comes off like he's trolling, lol
MC RiDdLa that’s the nerves, but also the cheeky boy he was in the 80’s
Love Metallica always will. Even did a book report when "And Justice For All" came out in high school, I got an A! Now 25yrs later and a professional, I still bring out my CD's and rock out like I did back then.
