    This is very smart and resourceful from a manufacturing perspective. It’s hard to make a new mold for a new piece so reusing old pieces in different ways is a lot easier, cheaper and smarter. This also gives Lego pieces a wider range to be used in many different ways.

    • @I_KnowWhatYouAre
      @I_KnowWhatYouAre ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Lego also has very specific methods for disposing of unused molds. Iirc, the dismantle them, salvaging anything that can be reused, and then the rest is placed in a hole and buried in concrete. However I know for a fact they used to just bury them whole in concrete, rather than salvaging parts.

    Alight, let’s talk about Lego botanical series, my sister loves them and I’ve been blown away by how creative they are, some of my favorite parts usage that is strange and genius. First, on the orchid set, some of the flowers are reprinted heads of the demegorgon from stranger things. The succulents are full of fun design choices such as eggs for leaves, and blasters to hold the petals of a large maroon flower in place. Then there’s potted plants which use both newsboy caps as leaves, as well as clam shells. Finally and one of my favorites, is the bonsai tree using over 30 little frogs as pink and white leaves

    -Golden hot dogs are used for horn-like ornamentation on the top of the mead hall.

    The fiat 500 blue lego set (77942), in step 76, says to put on two 1×1 round studs. However, it only says where to put one of them (on a technic pin on a stick). (The other stud in the next step -77- appears in its place behind the sticks between the seats. This stud only appears in this step then disappears for the next few steps until it's covered up.)
    In the next step the stud thats supposed to go on the technic pin doesn't appear there, and the mistake is only fixed by step 158. (The stud does appear by steps 78 and 141, which are both the last steps of the bags (1&2). It appears and disappears multiple times). In the yellow fiat 500 (10271) you can see what is supposed to happen, the mistake is only by the blue fiat 500.
    Two mistakes in the same step.
    The interesting part is that lego just used the same things for the set and just changed the color. But they added a mistake too...
    The set number for the blue fiat is 77942, the set number for the yellow fiat is 10271.

    Hello! The NASA Space Shuttle Discovery Lego Set also uses a whip in the back part of the Hubble Telescope and a steering wheel as well. There are also gold candles in the set as the fold solar panels of the telescope.

    Whip pieces are also used in the BD-1 model set. 4 of them make up electrical wires on his legs.

    2:25 funny thing is, the set that introduced the part they'd use for future bird nests, had a birds nest in the set, but didn't use that piece, if you look at the top of the bridge, surprised they didn't use it then

    Speaking of the A Frame Cabin: another hidden object is the frog they place underneath the staircase. I love the lego frogs and I regret absent mindingly placing that frog down there. Free my boy!
