LEGO is the largest toy company in the world, but it's still prone to making mistakes and errors during its set production process. From incorrect LEGO instructions to errors on the set box art and product images, there are a lot of little details that are sometimes overlooked. Set 71801 shows the wrong mask for Kai minifigure. The other two sets of this kind (71802 and 71803) show Nya and Arin with the right new golden masks.

The gray wheel bearing piece shown in the instructions is a piece that is commonly used in the Speed Champions line. I looked at my sets and I can confirm that the sets themselves actually use the version with holes in them and not the version without holes.

My mind is blown. For me the one with the extra holes is so much more recognizable that I didn't even realize there was one without the holes. But I just checked some of my sets, and true enough some have one version and some have the other. 🙀

2:15 This isn't an error at all. The viewing angles just obscure the circular top making it look like a normal rectangular window piece. In images starting on page 107 of the instructions, it's hard to tell but you can barely see that the sides of the window begin to curve into a half circle.
...while the panel IS rectangular, obscuringbthe curves.

I have a tiny question: why is the video called "break the rules" when literally all submissions are "printing errors"?
Most of them are instructions that leave the build unfinished or breaking the laws of gravity so they might break the rules on lego
6:00 31058's biggest rule breaking is that it doesn't contain 3 mighty dinosaurs, but 2 mighty dinosaurs and 1 mighty pterosaur.
Except the IS a bonus fourth so it DOES have 3 mighty dinosaurs.

2:06 I built this set and noticed this. I was there for like 5 minutes trying to figure it out haha
Mistake-wise, the biggest one I've encountered was with my UCS A-Wing, where they included the wrong bag 1. Instead, I got the bag 1 for a Sith TIE Fighter set instead. Made for a very confusing beginning of the build. Thankfully, the replacement had no issues.

the hole itself is what he is talking about. the piece it shows on the inventory page has a hole with a round top but in the actual set photo its a rectangular shape.

Set 10332 on Step 94, the instructions shows the eventual part of the underside that connects two roof pieces, despite the steps not having any part of it

I still have my Lego from the 1980s - in a very beaten-up condition so only worth anything to me - and one of the sets I have is (I think) 6688, the Legoland ambulance, which has printed bricks for the sides of the ambulance - and one of the panels somehow got misprinted so ended up with two red crosses on it. Overall, though, considering how old Lego is as a company and how many sets they've released over that time, their quality control is really good.

Making good directions is a whole art form of itself. As neat it is to find mistakes, they really do an amazing job in making instructions for complex things.
My 2024 Lego Christmas advent calendar had two bags switched around, so I basically just arranged the fireplace however I wanted until I got the actual place where it should have been.
I found a mistake: Set 7150, TIE Fighter & Y-Wing, Darth Vader's head is light gray but the instructions incorrectly show it as yellow. Online instructions have this fixed, but my paper instructions show it as yellow.
the weird piece at 6:55 does exist, it's used in a few speed champions sets, I know specifically the Koenigsegg Jesko because I have it on my desk, rn.
For set 75317, the whole book doesn’t tell u that u have to put the binoculars on mandolorains’s waist belt. One page doesn’t have it, the next does!

the advent calendar one is quite common with the recent calendars, one of my friends got 2 of the same turbo tank builds in the star wars advent calendar
On step 11 of the insect collection, a part of one of the grass pieces isn't highlighted in red.

I have an error in a lego catalog from like 2 years ago and theres a blue race car thats printed twice so it looks weird

In set 75312 "Boba Fett's Starship (SLAVE I)", on page 132 (Step 201), we are told to charge the stud shooters with trans red 1x1 round plates, and they stay this way until page 140, when they magically turn from trans red to trans yellow.

Set 75306, the imperial probe droid, it asks you to use three of one piece, but the set only includes 2 of them.

Yesterday when I was building a set for 18-year-old and up, I thought there is two missing piece. It’s two red pin pieces and it was in the bag the whole time.

6:45 the gray wheel piece thingy is commonly used in speed champions, i have set 76907 and it has those holes around the actual axle hole
I got the Sonic & Tails figures and was baffled by the differences. Tails has great design, but at the cost of his knees. Then Sonic has a small head, but no tail!?
a thing that felt illegal to me in a newer set is set 31088, which has you put lego technic spacers on normal lego studs when building the giant squid
All I remember is the Bionicle combiners instruction with Nokama combining with the ice Bionicle from Bionicle 2.

He's wrong about the Alpine Lodge set, it is the right window piece. Both the rectangular and arch windows both use rectangular glass.

Too many set directions seem to picture part 4599 tap with a hole in the front.
I have exactly none of those pieces with a hole in the front.
Hello Spitbrix, I found an instruction error in 11th step in 60439, it says put a 1x4 plate on a window piece but then it disappears.

Just noticed that the ball joint on the Imperium Hunter Hound isn't properly connected
The Lego Minecraft set “ the” abandoned” mine” misses a piece on step 14
It calls for Two pieces, but the step actually requires you to use three
And also something funny on the Lego set” the bee cottage” if you go to the 3-D images, you will find that all of the small bees faces are upside down.😂

I once received a random pink 2X4 brick in a set once that was not apart of the set.
I had to deal with a pretty confusing mistake when it came to the Lego City 2023 Artic Explorer Ship which had two Number 7 bags instead of a Number 7 and Number 8 bag. practically skipping the Number 8 bag altogether.
He didn’t include the Lego retro camera with that one printing mistake

I don't know if it has been featured yet, but in set 75335 (BD-1 from Jedi Fallen order), the wires on BDs leg are a pair of black and gold whip peaces.

in set 75365 (yavin 4 base), instruction number 1 shows R2-D2 in the Y-wing when it is supposed to be the other droid in the set.
The instruction picture at 7:00 of a 6x2x1 modified plate-brick, the one with the technic axle holes and weird holes around the axle hole, is a real piece, but i think it's an older one. I have one that's in the old dark gray, and judging from the yellowing it's got to be a thirty year old piece. My guess is they recently retired the original and replaced it with the one used in the set
The Advent calendar problem wasn’t limited to just the HP one! I got the Star Wars 2023 Advent and on day 2 the set was supposed to be the Justifier, but instead I got a Speederbike. I waited until I got to the speeder door, only to find another Speederbike. A bit of talking to the customer service got them to send me all the parts that I was supposed to get
On page 32 of the tie bomber,it says to get one of each Lego piece.But,it shows two of each piece.

I have something: on the box for the Lego Ironman Mech Armor it shows the legs connected to different pieces than it does when you build the actual set, which sorta bummed me, since it looked cool on the box.
If I get the 3 in 1 creator set I WILL ADD THE MISSING PIECES
Here's one that actually breaks the rules. One of the new Minecraft sets, the one with the baby camel, includes a new cactus build. Now any Minecraft veteran will tell you that cactus blocks can't be placed next to another block that has collision even if that collision wouldn't touch the cactus, well this set tells you to put this cactus in a back corner up _against_ the shelter build.
Sidenote: since this set has no features beyond building it, the pictures on the back just show Steve hugging the cactus with some effects to make it look like it hurts, 😂, and the other two just show the camel and phantom which you're likely getting this set for if you're a LEGO Minecraft mob collector as this is the cheapest way to get a phantom and only way to get a baby camel.

The imperium Dragon Hunter hound tells us to build Jay in bag one but Lloyd is the one in the bag and bag two is the opposite it tells us to build Lloyd except Jay is in the bag
