Nothing could ever replicate the feeling of viewing this scene for the first time. Mio referring to Noah as "my Noah" hit me the hardest.
How far are you in the story because the reason she says that hits even harder when you know everything.

probably the most heart-wrenching 30 minutes of cutscene I've watched in recent years. I absolutely love the cast of xenoblade 3...
Hits as hard as the ending of ffx.
First time watching I'm like when are they going to escape or be rescued but nope .
The words exchanged amongst the party, the way N and Shania kick you while youre down, the way the Ouroboros break down and eventually realize their efforts arent gonna get them out of this one, everyone including Manana losing their smiles, and the sheer length of this scene perfectly beats the sense of helplessness into you AND the party.
This cutscene is one of the most beautifully painful things in the game
This whole cutscene chunk I was just crying my eyes out, Takahashi can't keep getting away with this
I love that this series has always got to me that way. I reminds me that I am only human.
Also Takahashi : " Let's make the ending another cutscene to make player cry until they're completely dry "

the only thing on my mind during this cutscene is that one video of the man at the entrance of a store of some kind yelling "IM GON' GETCHU OUTTA THERE!" "YOU DON'T BELONG IN THERE!"

the twist is that it IS N's perspective
N and Noah are the “same person.” It applies to both N and Noah.

@ventriloquistmagician4735 there was but after becoming mobius, the genuine love for her as a person evaporated. There was no longer anything between them. She wanted to love him but he was so broken he wasn't the same man; she couldn't follow the shell of a person he had become. He refused to call her by her actual name, also reducing her identity to a single letter like the other mobius. She wasn't allowed to die, through his actions he was telling her he forbade it. Now he was just being possessive and controlling. keeping her alive even against her will mattered more to him than anything else. Her free will and compliance to becoming mobius were completely ignored because he knew she'd never agree to that, even if it was alongside him.
I can’t believe they straight up put an hour and a half long movie in the middle of this game lol
This whole cutscene got me crying like a baby. And I'm the kind of guy that doesn't act emotionally to such

Like I predicted correctly what happens in chapter 5, cuz I knew going in that this was a sad chapter. That being said it still absolutely broke me. This game is a 10/10 guys

From the moment Lanz and Sena tried to sacrifice themselves to the moment Mio comes back I was just crying

This song was low-key about N and his inner struggle, and sudden realization that M doesn’t want “forever” anymore. And M realizing that she can bring N true peace by letting go of him and vice versa

When I first watched this cutscene and heard this song, I could not stop my face from crying. I was like, “NO, they cannot kill off Mio! No please!” My heart shattered as days went by and they tried to escape but couldn’t. And when Noah injured his hands. Seriously, words can’t describe how I was feeling during this cutscene. Especially when Mio said, “My Noah”. I was like “Damn seriously, Monlithsoft, you successfully made me cry like a baby”. Sure I cried in the past with video games, but this cutscene really hit me hard. And it will every time I watch it. 😭💔
This song reminded of a song from a Wii game called Fragile Dreams. The song name is Hikari, the beggining of both songs are so similar. Anyways...great moment in XC3...made me cry a lot. Video games for me, can have the highest emotional feeling of any media or art. And this part was such a masterful way of conveying the emotions of the main characthers..specially Noah and Mio..
I honestly didn’t think it would live up to the first game but I’m glad I was proven wrong. The characters are so good.

Did you miss Sharla's arc about finding her boyfriend that directly ties into the main plot or Dunban's entire relationship with Metal face?
Every single character in Xenoblade 1 is relevant to the plot and is engaging, can you tell me what the fuck Tora or Dromarch do in Xenoblade 2?
Btw all the "qualities" you listed about 2 are generic, edgy nonsense that you find in every trashy one-issue shonen manga.

Reyn is Shulk's support system after Fiora dies, the story would be significantly different if he wasn't there.
Honestly the fact that you think that he is not important makes me believe that you haven't paid attention to the story.
I find it funny that you think Sharla is replaceable but then say that Tora is an essential character because he has muh sad backstory :'(.
Shulk doesn't become friends with the mechon they're fucking machines, he becomes aware of the bigger picture and changes his motivation accordingly.
Do you think characters shouldn't change and grow through their journey?

I felt powerless during this scene, watching Noah injure himself over and over again hoping he could save Mio hurt my heart so much, I honestly thought the game would end right there in the prison and we would be forced to watch our friend slowly die...
I was convinced the game would have the balls to ACTUALLY kill Mio off, unlike the [still fantastically done] half-game fakeout of Fiora in the first game. And as someone who still feels the pain of losing Alys in Phantasy Star IV and Aerith in Final Fantasy VII, that shit had me TERRIFIED.
Which makes it even more fantastic that Xenoblade 3 takes a lot of plot beats and ideas from FF7's story and turns them on their head, I was overjoyed when Mio revealed herself to be fine and then there was that insanely cool boss fight HNNGGG XENOBLADE 3 IS SO FUCKING GOOD
@@aortaplatinum It makes the whole scene worthless . Fake Deaths are the worst thing in jrpgs and it makes every stake meaningless. It was clear that they didn't kill her. Its so bad.
I always tell people to wait until they finish to listen again. It hits different. Very clever choice to make the singer a woman

I think that this isn’t so much a perspective of either, but of both.
Noah for all of his short life experiencing it in the month up until the Homecoming, N for all his time in that split second.
And it broke them both. Even if for Noah it was only for a minute, he indeed did feel that despair that N had intended.
This Game and this song is so amazing, i love this Game so much.
I swear, Nintendo always knows how to make me uncontrollably shat my tears...
This scene was even more heartbreaking for me because it made me nostalgic for the Better Than I prison scene in Joseph King of Dreams

I just finished Chapter 5 and started Chapter 6, and this whole interaction of cutscenes is one of the many reasons as to why I refuse to show my friends Xenoblade cutscenes out of context. If you were to show someone who has heard of Xenoblade but not played it, and show them this whole interaction, it probably wouldn't hit as hard and it can be summed with one quote from the scenes: "It's just a metal gate". Throughout the whole story you are seeing how these characters who started as sworn enemies grew as companions. You saw them try to kill each other at the start, join each other because they had no choice with the fusion, learned to be there for each other, and go through a countless journey where they have fought giant monsters, Moebious, the annihilator, and destroy flame clocks one by one, and it's all guarded by a simple metal gate.
People like to say how Nintendo games don't have a lot of story elements with Kirby's story mostly being behind lore, Metroid with the environments, and a few others that I know I am missing, but Xenoblade is one that openly shows you everything right to your eyes. And it's that reason I don't want to show my friends random scenes. If they haven't experienced their journey, then it won't hit as hard.

Still, even Noah knows that without N, he would have made the same choice in the same circumstances.
If he hadn’t seen what he’d become if he took that choice and suffered that cruelty, he would be the same person.
In that moment he wished for the same thing his predecessor did.
The key difference being that unlike N, Noah’s wish wouldn’t be granted.
For those few moments, he felt that pain and had that same moment of weakness.

The feeling of uselessness when you realize you cannot do prison break like older games feels unreal. The realization hits real hard when you gets closer and closer to mio "homecoming"

Nice scene and song but it does not come close to Xenoblade 1 and 2 emotionally.
I disagree partially.
In the terms of non-vocal music (aka general field map music) i would say XBC1 did the best as I remember many of the area musics from it. XBC2 was pretty meh for it's field music, and XBC3 was better than XBC2 but worse than XBC1
There battle music from best to worst is XBC1, XBC2, XBC3. And XBC3 is only marginally worse than XBC2 in the essence that due to the common main enemy there is very little variation for the Boss music.
When it comes to lyrical songs from best to worst is XBC2, XBC3 then XBC1. The reason I say this is i have come to the startling realization that "beyond the sky" is very damn similar to Ceylon Dion's "my heart will go on" for Titanic. And i barely recall any lines from that compared to Drifting Soul or A Step Away. They all have the same themes though, which is interesting but also to be expected. The themes are love, hope, uncertainty, guiding light (or guidance in general) and moving on. Also let's not forget that Beyond the sky was the ending theme and so had no actual cutscene.
I will admit that Nia's "drifting Soul" is better than this one, but only by a small margin.
