👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻 you are both sounding very upbeat 👍👍. So glad that you both enjoyed your time away. I bet the Caledonia Claymore New Years Eve bash will be a fun event 🎉🎉🎉🍷🍷🎉🎉. So Ernie is getting some pampering from Pat, lucky little guy 💕❤️💕. Looking forward to your next adventure. Take care, stay safe and well. Judy🇨🇦🇨🇦
That would be too much for me, Judy. We have been hiding away on New years eve. Yes, Ernie gets more attention from Pat, but Tracey makes sure he's OK too.
Looks and sounds like you had a lovely time. New experience, met some nice people and found a new way to get away without the van. Look forward to your next adventure.
It was a whole new experience for us, never believed in a million years we would do anything like that, but life can push you in directions you couldn't imagine. Pat loved it, and it takes me longer to make my mind up about things, but I was happy that Pat enjoyed it so much.
Thanks for sharing your recent trip. How are you finding accommodation and fuel costs, etc, compared with your motorhome fuel and I guess, food costs in both instances. We used to record all these details and comparing details of our trips in the car or SUV, we find the car tripping to be reasonably economical. The major cost is hotel/motel. We're about to do another fortnight's travel, this time during school holidays when accommodation providers increase their tariffs. Cheers folks.
The first thing to say Barry, is that there is no way we could do what we are doing unless we had the money from the insurance payout for the van. With the van we went off for three weeks at a time, but now it's one to five nights at a time. We are not doing it on the cheap, we are going off less, but it's the complete opposite to vanlife. Last month £600 went out more than came in, that amounts to £7000 a year, that's £3000 to £4000 more than with the van. I used to put £55 every two weeks in the vans diesel tank, but it's too soon to say how much we spend on petrol. The major difference is, we use the car to go see places that we could never do with the van.
Went one time on a coach/ bus weekend with my parents and sister and enjoyed it but my sister and I would of it as we got a weekend with no responsibility with our young families (hubby s on daddy duty lol) . Your place you stayed at seemed to come across as a decent place must of been your expert video making. Nice you got to meet a new couple and had some company in evening and had a nice holiday. Take care.
I remember my parants trying it when they retired, but they didn't like it. Everyone knew the place was tatty, but they overlooked it and enjoyed themselves, a very working class attitude that i found impressive in the nicest possible way, and who are we to do otherwise. It was nice.
Glad to see you arrived home safely. Apart from the driving it was a nice relaxing break for you both. As you say, more like a holiday than it would have been had you been in the van. Looking forward to your next adventure away, which won’t be too long. You both look very well and relaxed after those few days away ❤xx
Thanks Susan. It's all new to us. Elegant hotels. When I see young people coming into these hotels I marvel, because when we were there age we wouldn't dare go anywhere near such a place. For twenty years we never went on "holidays" as such, so that Hotel was like a working mens club in the 70s. It was good to experience it again after so long. Our next trip is in a static caravan on a park.
Awww so glad you are enjoying so many nice places now, better late than never . I love your little car, it's so much easier for you and safer than the van. That will be lovely for you staying in a static caravan. I am looking forward to seeing where you and Pat are travelling to next. ❤xx
Glad you have had a lovely time and felt like you were on holiday. We are away tomorrow in the van, just for the weekend to Somerset. Hope the weather will be ok its been miserable all week here! See you tomorrow, bye!!
Awww glad you had a lovely time. They do say don’t judge a book by its cover and in this instance it was the Caledonian interior. I suspect they will refurbish as I believe someone commented they had taken the hotel over.
The comedian on the third night said "Welcome to the five star Caledonian Hotel", and everyone groaned, they all knew they were not staying in a five star hotel, nothing like it, so it was made fun of. But it didn't stop people enjoying themselves, and it didn't stop the staff from treating everyone right. Improvements are being made to the hotel structure, and that's a good thing, because everyone deserves it.
Im glad you ended up having a good time. It does make a change when staff love there jobs. There's a Grange hotel on the Isle of wight (warners) and there the same. Food was superb there. ❤
@@trevorpat-lifeontherun they do. There's live entertaint ,quiz night etc. Especially around christmas time they do a drinks package holiday. Im not a drinker but that definatley worth it. And they do carol singing, they have a cinema room, bow and arrow. Pistol shooting Swimming ,sauna loads on. There's a brouchure that tells you whats on where what time. Just remember to put your name down. They really trreat you well. And its so pretty with the christmas trees up too

We certainly enjoyed our 3 week trip around Great Britain years ago by coach. Great tour guide and driver. Miss those days.
Do you live in England?
Was the coach a luxury coach?
Glad you enjoyed your holiday, you were lucky with the weather.
Try Anthisan for midge bites helps with the itch.

Thank you Irene for that. ❤️

The car is great, we always liked them.
Yes, it will be interesting to see how we get on in the static, and where we get to.

It was weird how the weather in Scotland was brilliant, while the rest of the UK were suffering cold wet conditions. Hope you had a nice weekend Mary.
I think the services you mentioned is called Tebay it is nicer on the way up
Oh the service station, I can't remember what it was called, the name doesn't ring any bells.
Lovely that you both enjoyed yourselves,Makes you feel as though you had a break ! Xxx
It felt as though we had been away weeks Dawn.
So pleased you enjoyed yourselves, enjoy planning more trips away!
Thank you! Will do!

@@jacquelinemoore7839 Thanks Jacqueline, we will check out Warner Hotels.
🇦🇺 sounds like you wore Pat out Trevor?
We never watched tv the whole holiday, and that's saying something for Pat, we were in the concert room until 11pm every night. It sure effected Pat.
