  • How to fix, what is, whatever, whatever. Everything you need to know about a cheap Chinese oil filter adaptor for an oil cooler. I put a different thermostat motor (charge cylinder) in it, because the one it came with was too cold, and changed the seals to make sure they do not leak.

    I just fitted gauges fir my rx8 got the cheap blue plate and fitted it then a new filter then started the engine and see it leaking straight away I need different oil filter so the seal fit better the m20 bolt looks like it should have a washer to help seal

    You sir!! Just made me soo much more confident in buying a cheaper thermostatic adapter!! I literally after watching this ordered the same one in red for basically same price.. i will do the same n go to a parts store and try and match the shitty 170 stat they install for a decent 195-200. Thank you!!

      It looks like a Mocal knockoff. You could probably use their t-stat too. I'm just really cheap.

      @@RustBeltAuto theres an upgraded part number to the stat you used.. the pin was not crimped into the crown of the stat like yours was.. it looks good! I have a $7 195° stat now

    Hello there, I was going to buy one of these since I just realised the previous owner of my 1995. Chevy diesel truck deleted the oil cooler and just connection thru this instead of the original port on the adapter. Would you say to avoid it? Thank you

      @@erikmackloet6551 maybe tore it, or it rolled over? Is there a good chamfer on the top, so it goes in nice? Is the bore clean, round, with no grooves, or defects? I dont know what size o-ring should be in there. It should have a little tightness of fit. Just a little

      everything is ok and clean. if the engine has been running for a few minutes, the oil will drip out. I really think the O ring is too small

      the original ring is 17x2.5 mm. I am trying an O ring 19x2,5 mm or 18x3,5 mm

    Ive literally just received the cheap version today and thinking the same thing . Ive noticed they sell inline thermostats for the AN10 fittings but im probably gonna just order one of those thermostatic ones

    I hated my thermostatic switch. They end up trapping oil in the lines and you end up having lower oil pressure. I even tried adding an extra quart and it would still have less oil pressure when cold.

      There is probably a flow restriction. If it is not producing enough volume, the pressure will decrease.

      You could also have a problem with it swapping spit. If the pressure, and return is leaking together. Just a thought.

    Why not just shim the spring a bit to increase the tension on the motor ? Would that have similar effects ?
