Also we need to keep in mind that Vi again blamed herself after Jinx left her in that cell thinking again that she did everything wrong. But for Caitlyn this not only didn't matter at all but she actually supported Vi no matter the outcome. At that moment just Vi felt immense relief and an overwhelming love for Caitlyn. So the scene makes perfect sense in that context.
Yeah it feels like some people either didn't manage to put themselves in Vi's shoes, or maybe think she doesn't deserve any kind of break or happiness whatsoever. Also we don't know how long she stayed locked up in there before Caitlyn came, probably a while so it wouldn't make much sense going running after Jinx right away there, especially considering not only she doesn't know where Jinx is but also she tried reaching for Jinx/Powder but she got "rejected" and locked up. All that being said, I think the majority of people do think that moment was deserved for Vi, at least I hope
I think the writers wrote her as the doomed/tragic character. The timeline with her not in it is the peaceful one, and the one where she exists and chooses herself is where everyone else is dead or miserable. Even in her relationship with cait it is hinted that there is continued conflict. The arcane universe mimics ying and yang
@@Azenithf I don't think that is true at all. The existence of the alternate universe implies the existence of others. Like the one from the Lo lore where Vi suffers from amnesia and Jinx is still in Piltover. Vi's greatest strength (her ability to care for others) is also her greatest weakness (when it comes at the expense of herself) which kept her trapped in a circle of tragedy in this timeline. But now that Jinx broke that circle for her the future looks actually hopeful. "To move forwards you sometimes need to leave a few things behind."
omg you guys are all soo clueless in this part :D Im an older sister to a psychotic little sister...and yeah its horrible , the episodes ...they are ugly but its not gher fault that she is sick... I have had her try to unalive herself...NOT ONCE did I think about my boyfriend for 7 years ....NOT ONCE did I think about f***king him....are you all for real??? This is crazy to act like this...its like you have no empathy at all , if you have been in that situation as an older sister for real trust me you will never act like this! Unless you are a sociopath or something, you think I didnt love my boyfriend??? We have been together for such a long time....but when my little sister tries something sooo horrible...then I RUN after her....I do everything I can to save her and then Im on her bedside when shes on coma for almost everyday....yeah my boyfriend might try to support me but he understands that Im not up for f**king at this point....
If ANYBODY in this series deserves happiness it's Vi. Her character flaw is that she never gives up on people she cares about and she admits that's causing her to lose everyone. Caitlyn needed to reassure Vi that is not a character flaw, it's a great quality to have to never give up on people.
Finally, a proper hamartia(tragic/fatal flaw) that wasn't executed poorly. In every other story, always caring and protecting your loved ones would be admired and lauded, but here it causes the exact pain and tragedy needed for the story to happen.
How many times must Vi sacrifice everything for Jinx, until all the Jinx fans are happy? Vi thought she lost everything multiple times. No wonder she reacted like she did when a woman she loves walked in and basically said: hey I'm here if you want me to.
I saw people saying that it was out of nowhere because Caitlyn didn't even apologize for her actions in act 1, but what they don't realize is that Caitlyn already broke her promise so her words are not trustworthy anymore. Even if she apologizes, i don't think Vi would accept or believe in her. In fact that's why Vi warns Jinx about her plan with Caitlyn against Ambessa, Jinx was there to make sure Cait would actually try to help Vander because Vi still doesn't trust her 100%. Cait also knows that her words would not be enough, so she decides to try through her actions. She tries to help save Vander, she fights with them against the noxians, she waits for Vi to recover to decide what to do with Jinx and trusts Vi's judgment that Jinx changed. Vi finally choose something for herself and Caitlyn choose to let go of all the hate and revenge, the sex scene was about both characters letting go of their self-destructive ways and choosing to give a new chance to happiness, which in this case is their relationship. Also if we look at season 1, we will see that both Caitlyn and Vi are more about actions than words, the writers making Cait redeem herself with Vi through actions for me it was much better than if we received an apologies speech.
I was one of these people you talked about who got mad with that scene because Cait didn't apologize. I was aware about her behaviour change, but still I was looking for a verbal apology. But I just read your comment and you have a good point about Cait not being trustworthy anymore because she has broken her promise. Idk if Vi would accept her apoligies, but without a change in Cait's attitudes Vi for sure woudn't accept. I think verbalizing is important, but it means nothing without a change of behaviour. Anyway, thanks for giving me another point of view, one that actually makes sense to me about Cait's apology theme. I feel more at ease about this subject.
@@justanothermandy Violet didn't have ANY faith in Caitlyn. Vi wanted Cait to take the shot no matter what - and when Cait had the shot, Vi stopped her. Like everyone in Caitlyn's life has done to her - especially her mother. I mean, I would've popped my lid too. Vi betrayed Cait's trust by not following through. Violet's character is flawed by her doing whatever she wants, outside of the plan. It's why she went after Vander, followed all the suspicious people, got caught up in drama. She has zero follow through because she doesn't plan things out well enough or have contingencies - she's a head first, fist first, ask later character. At some point that bites you in the butt. Cait had nothing to apologise for. She was following the plan. Stark difference between a fighter and a soldier, is Vi and Cait. They share such similar traits but on the opposite ends of the spectrum. If anything Vi should have said sorry to Caitlyn for changing the plan. But Violet hides her insecurities behind virtuosity - she didn't want Jinx to die.
I thought it was clear that her sister was gonna commit s*icide, so as a sapphic with dead friends I was horrified when they made out Not because it was Vi's fault or bc she didn't deserve a happy relationship, I didn't see it from Vi's perspective at all Idk s*cide is a heavy topic and it gloomed over the entire three minute scene for me, I didn't hate Vi or comment on this topic at all tho I knew a smart youtuber would explain it to me :D
@PeachHeadzAddiction tbh, from Vi's pov I didn't think Jinx's lines implied she was committing s*icide. We knew that it was implied because we as the audience saw her inner thoughts with Silco a few minutes before, but Vi? She have her own traumas and by the way she was talking when Caitlyn arrived she was spiraling and blaming herself for things she couldn't control again. Besides, let's be honest, there's nothing Vi could do to help Jinx. She wasn't the right person to reach Jinx at that moment.
Vi didn't know she was going to try to end her own life. All she said was "Break the cycle" which could mean a lot of things. If Jinx said she was going to end her own life, as soon as Cait opened the doors, the first thing Vi would've done is run out of there to go save her. She decided not to go check up on her later either because she thought Jinx was going against her again. Vi chose herself first for once and I think it's okay. Vi doesn't have to be selfless 24/7 :)
Totally agree. AND how much better for Jinx to experience someone else "saving her". Like, the fact that it's Ekko that shows up and reminds her she has something to live for, cuz Jinx has been so trapped inside this need for Vi's forgiveness and validation.
@@mathies3598 THIS! This is what I’ve been telling people…okay so she’s concerned for her sister safety, but where would she even begin to look? She has no idea where her lab is, the Undercity is a big place. Idk what people expected her to do, run through the streets? Streets that Vi knows are being emptied by enforcers to move people to safety? I’m glad someone else saw this too.
Time and time again, Vi wanted to save and help Jinx. Time and time again, Jinx pushed her away. How do people think Vi can save Jinx even if she finds her again? She will just push her, again and again and again. Because Vi is not the one who can change Jinx's mind because Jinx think it's her fault that Vi is suffering and vice versa, that Vi thinks it's her fault that Jinx is suffering. It's not Vi who is meant to save Jinx and it's not Jinx who is meant to save Vi. Because both of them are stubborn kids 😂 If only their dad is alive lmao so yeah, Vi needs Cait and Jinx needs someone else except for Vi to help her. That's just how it is.
What Cait did was SO important and better than a lame-ass apology. She trusted Vi 100% and she proved that she didn´t care about going after Jynx at all. She basically lets Vi choose what to do, even if that means letting Jynx escape from prison. She proved that she cared more about Vi than about everything and everyone else. She proved that she was able to put Vi´s feelings above the revenge from her mother and her own pain and loss. Vi was more important than getting pay-back from her mother´s death, Vi was more important than being an enforcer and capturing Jynx. Both Jynx and Caitlyn let go of everything to allow Vi to be happy.
Personally, I think there are two main things that cause Vi to react the way she does in this scene, after finding out Caitlyn broke the rules to help Jinx escape the jail cell The first is that she realizes that underneath everything, this is the still the same Caitlyn who freed Vi back when they first met. The same person who takes risks on people she should have every reason to distrust or even despise. The same person she fell in love with And the second is that this decision by Caitlyn tells Vi she didn't just make the wrong choice and ruin everything again. Without words, Caitlyn reassures her that freeing Jinx was the right decision, and that if Caitlyn can trust Jinx to make the right choice in the end, then Vi can do the same and “fill her own glass” this time, as Vander put it. She's done all she reasonably can for her sister, the rest is up to Jinx herself
Beautifully put. As we see with jinx’s suicide scene as well the ONLY person who could have saved Jinx is ekko why? Because he has a goddamn time rewinding machine. Anyone else wouldn’t have been able to even get a word in before jinx blows herself up. We see that even when ekko tries to save her Jinx doesn’t listen and he has to rewind time multiple times to get her to listen. Vi would only get more traumatised. I mean I guess you can argue she may have stopped jinx if she immediately ran after her but I think character development wise Vi choosing to stay with cait is massive character development. I would say ekko was literally meant to save jinx bc only him and his time travelling thing could have worked.
Yup. The scene with Jinx was a "passing of the baton" so to speak. And Caitlyn sealed the deal by agreeing with Vi's action. So FINALLY, after everything, Vi could rest. Jinx was no longer her responsibility, no longer drove a wedge between her and the person she loved. Not because Vi no longer loved her, but because Jinx gave her her blessing.
About Caitlyn not apologizing to Vi, I think she actually does, but in a very subtle way during their sex scene. After taking off Vi's tank top, Caitlyn touches and looks at the bandage on Vi's stomach, where she injured her in the third episode. I'm usually not great at catching details on the first watch, but I instantly noticed the change in Caitlyn's expression. She looked guilty. Vi notices and pulls her in a passionate embrace. It's her way of saying "it's okay, I forgive you".
I think people didn't really get that Vi didn't know what jinx was referring to with the ''break the cycle'' thing. When Cait arrives, Vi thought she was about to lose her too for going there to free Jinx, and i bet she felt so relieved that Cait gave this demonstration of trust for her... ''Who decides who gets a second chance?'' and Caitlyn, alredy knowing what Vi's descision would be, she still let her. I think this scene was so good because Cait let her know that they were actually together in this, and that no, she didn't really lose *everyone* in her life.
I love that Caitlyn suspects that Jinx escaped the last explosion, but didn't tell Vi. Jinx deserves a chance at happiness, through a fresh start, in Caitlyn's eye, but Caitlyn knows Vi would try to connect with Jinx. The last scene of Caitlyn reminded me of the flashback scene, with Grayson, on the balcony in season 1; Caitlyn found her reward for protecting the people of the city.
I have a feeling Vi knew cus she didn't look as devastated as she did when Vander died. Like sure, they had a rocky relationship but she's been reconnecting with her sister throughout the season so it doesn't make sense for her not to grieve again if Jinx is actually gone. Instead, she looked pretty content while also humming the song Powder was singing when Arcane premiered. PLUS that airship in the final scene is reminiscent to S1 when Powder said she was going to ride one of those one day so Jinx may still be alive.
Love this point, I hadn't put together that Cait didn't tell Vi about this, and you're so right. I love that we see Cait "investigating" and it gives us the audience that hope, but that both Vi and Jinx can truly escape the cycle they were in from the love/trauma with each other.
@@uchhamnato Yeah I think Vi knows. But I think knowing that Jinx chose to end the cycle, and having already passed the baton, I think Vi can rest still. Even if she knows Jinx is out there.
I think some people forget that these are characters in a story, not people in the real world. For me Vi not going after Jinx builds on her previous statement that Jinx doesn’t need her help with the excepting of Jinx’s wishes not to have Vi’s special protection any longer. It also shows that Vi wouldn’t act on her feelings for Caitlyn until she didn’t have to chose between the two most important people in her life.
Also Vi just tried to save Jinx. Got betrayed by her and feared she lost Caitlyn for that action too. It was amazing how Caitlyn knew she would try to save Jinx and gave her an opportunity.
Beautifully phrased! I thought it was perfect and emotional. If anything, I think Vi would view that almost like a love confession. Caitlyn just... trusted her. She practically opened the doors for Jinx and Vi, KNOWING that if Jinx had decided to leave with Vi, she might never see Vi again. But she loved her so much and accepted that reality because she wanted Vi to be HAPPY. Her grief made her miserable and exhausted her. Now, she wanted to make up for this. Vi needed that person who trusted her, despite her self hatred and blame. Her saying "i choose wrong every time, and because of it, I've lost everyone." is phrased to INCLUDE Caitlyn. She believes she's lost Caitlyn too now. Her trust, the one she fell in love with. She expected anger and hatred like in act 1. But Caitlyn handed her the control and trusted her judgement and simply let her and Jinx go. I would've kissed Caitlyn too haha!
What I like is that I don't think Caitlyn will ever forgive Jinx for what she has done, but she still decided to let go of her hatred and desire of revenge because she realised it was poisoning her life and she hurted people because of that. It's a very good message, you can move on and let go of your anger but it doesn't mean you have to forgive everything.
Yup, I don't think many people understand what Caitlyn did meant to Vi. Agreeing with her that her sister deserved a second chance (in her words) or at the very least trusted Vi to make that decision...meant everything to Vi.
Finally a Vi defense post. I’m so sick of everyone putting my baby down. She absolutely didn’t know Jinx was going to try and off herself. It’s called dramatic irony when the audience knows but the main characters don’t. Everyone is assuming Vi knew just because we knew. Vi has had such a rough life and people at like it’s nothing. I don’t think it’s Vi’s fault at all for what happened to Jinx because she was 15 and jinx killed everyone she knew on accident. She was grieving and was kidnapped and put in jail. It would be different if she actually left power on purpose. I think Silco is the reason Jinx is so messsd up. He took her in and used her pain for his own benefit. I’m not saying the jinx isn’t in pain because shit that girl has been through it too. I just think Vi has never been with someone in that way and she was longing for it.
Wait people blame Vi for leaving Powder with Silco ? She is human, she was angry and sad because her sister just killed their whole family even if it was an accident and you could clearly see she was going to get back to her if she wasn't captured. She needed to calm down but she still cared about Powder. To Jinx's POV it's understandable she felt abandoned as she only had the memory of her sister mad at her and leaving her but we saw the rest. Man people really no longer differentiate characters and viewer's POV.
@ that’s exactly what I’m saying. You put it perfectly! Everything they see they expect the other characters to know. It’s unfortunate what happened to both of them that night. Plus, Vi was angry enough to punch powder in the face (rightly so) but the best thing she could’ve done was walk away to give them space apart.
I agree with evetrhing you say in this video, and on top of that I want to say: They tried really hard in act 1 to locate Jinx and only succeded when she wanted to be found, Vi knows that even if she goes after her sister, she's not going to be able to find her. I also want to share my take on Jinx decisions in the finale, she's alive for sure, but she wants Vi to think she's dead because that's another way of setting her free. And I think Caitlyn understood this and she decided to support Jinx decision and keep the secret from Vi
Seriously, how long do you think Vi was in that prison cell. At least a couple hours. Where would she even begin to find her sister? Just start running in a direction? It just doesnt make sense.
People who criticize Vi for that confuse their knowledge with character's knowledge. Vi didn't know what Jinx was up to. She came to save Jinx and was betrayed by her and feared her trying to save Jinx had screwed up her relationship with Caitlyn again. It was a wonderful way to show that Caitlyn knew Vi would save Jinx and didn't stop her but gave her an opening. Seriously people trying to hate Vi on that just want to hate her.
Dont you think it's funny how Vi teamed up with cait to kill Jinx in act 1, and nobody said a word about her, but after she and cait had sex, suddenly now she turns into a bad sister? Man, homophobia is fucking disgusting
@luizalebeis8895 Yeah... Feels like there probably never would have been a right way for this in some people's mind. Jayce and Mel had sex while Viktor was corrupting himself with the hexcore. I wonder if people hated Jayce for not being with Viktor too, despite not knowing what he was up to as well.
People no longer know what dramatic irony is, they forget Vi didn't have the scene where Jinx talks to Silco in her cell or asks Caitlyn to just kill her in front of her unlike us. Without all that context we would probably interpret the idea of "breaking the cycle" in different ways too.
@jujublue4426 Exactly. It's like they need every character to voice their knowledge to understand what they know. It's frustrating that they don't know how to read stories...
Vi has suffered all her life.. Constantly fighting and losing her loved ones over and over and over again. When Caitlyn left after hitting her she was just not heartbroken, she was shattered to pieces at that point she has nothing to live for anymore and went down a path of self harm just to feel something (ngl this part of the season broke me too). she was lost but eventually got Vander and Jinx back together as a happy family and guess what? Only to be taken from her AGAIN after like 2 seconds... When Jinx left her again, she thought she lost Cait too for trying to free Jinx.. Just imagine how overflowing her emotions could have been when Caitlyn showed up indirectly saying that "you didn't lose everyone. I'm still here." Seriously, Vi is that person you just wanna give a hug and protect at all cost. Hasn't she suffered enough? She deserves all the happiness in the world.
YES! I agree with everything you said. I absolutely have NO IDEA why some are just hate commenting on Vi. I feel it's just their lack of comprehension skills.
Sometimes its also because some people become very identified and atached to a character and its harder for them to understand or see things from other characters perpective. I know a person Who's been abused in the past and sufers ptsd who cant see past the time when vi slaped her sister and called her a jinx. But i think the problem there is more a ''this hapened in my life in a certain similar way and cant get past that'' comparison than ''i dont understand this character''.
When Cait opened the cell for Vi, the trail was already cold as ice, and they had a battle to lose pretty soon. It's unrealistic to expect her to spend precious time in a wild goose chase. If both survived the battle, there would be time enough to pick up the trail. The only criticism I have of Vi is that spending seven years in jail stopped her from achieving her potential. In act 1 of season 1, she was a leader. From then on, she became a lone wolf, which is not what she was meant to be.
This scene was absolutely amazing imo. I think people just need to accept art as it is. They can write their fanfics if they aren't happy but stop bothering the fandom with their subjective feelings. This was the best gay romance ever and still people find things they can nag about. It's exhausting.
People still hate Vi??? Give my girl a damn break.😭 She spent her young adulthood in _prison_ getting routinely abused by guards. Lovely to see her healing.💓💓
It's like Vi can't do it right whatever she does. To people who say, Vi should have gone after Jinx, just one question: really? you really want Vi to just keep doing the same thing again and again and have no development? It is Vi's arc that she tries to save Powder/Jinx and suffers because of it. I bet if Vi went after Jinx, people would complain how the show does the same thing again and again with no character progression.
Well said! I'm sad to see alot of my friends upset about it. I feel like it needs some time to settle in their heads that Arcane is over. While the show does warrant some criticism for its fast pace (reason why alot of people are missing the finer details and nuances. So many big things happened so no time was given to process everything.) It doesn't deserve the condemnation. It's still a 10/10 show. Beautiful in all of it's imperfections.
This show is meant to be watched more than once. All the questions and objections I had after my first viewing of s2 were answered on second viewing. I can't wait to watch it a third time, then to watch the two seasons all over again. I'll just play Arcane on a loop for the next year.😅
The reason people shouldn't complain about how Caitlyn acts is stated when Caitlyn arrives to let her out of the cell. Vi is done with Jinx once and for all because she feels she has lost everything (Jinx, Caitlyn [as a girlfriend], parents, Vander [twice - three times when you include the memories being erased], friends [Claggor and Mylo], and even Isha to some degree). Caitlyn gives hope back to Vi when telling her she knew what Vi was up to and Vi has become "predictable." Hope not only for them as a couple, but for life (despite the fact that there is a war coming). With both sisters cutting ties, Jinx out of guilt and Vi out of guilt for hoping Jinx would help, Vi is letting Jinx go once and for all, or so she thinks until she sees her show up in the war during episode nine. It makes her death all the more hard considering how many times Vi has tried to help and the fact that she fails so often she now, in the cell, is giving up. The video is correct, neither Powder or Jinx is Vi's responsibility anymore. And on top of that Jinx gave Vi her blessing, which boils down to another aspect of Vi getting released of another responsibility/weight off her shoulders concerning her feelings for Caitlyn. Vi is now doing something for herself, and has been giving said permission by characters. I will never believe this season was rushed. Just like last season, studying it (especially characters motivations) is key.
Jinx going her own way is better for both characters, she did too much damage in Piltover and Zaun so she needs to start somewhere else to build a better life. She's also an adult, by letting go of Vi and after Ekko saved her proving other people could care about her she won't be dependent on Vi or Silco's approval anymore.
Personally, I see that scene as Vi thanking Caitlyn for getting all the guards out the way so her sister could escape without a problem. Vi was probably feeling an overwhelming amount of love and gratitude in this moment, especially if you consider that she never expected Caitlyn to help Jinx, even calling Cait out on that earlier in the day. Also the scene could be seen as symbolism for Piltover and Zaun coming together...and Jinx - the symbol of revolution! - supported/gave permission for them being happy together.
I have been warching some of your reactions for a while now, but this is the first time I watch one of your essay, and I have to pay you some respect. You really have an intelligent and deep understanding of the show, and I like it, because Arcane is crafted with care, and attention to the detail, and it pisses me off when people are missing key points like these. Ty for your thoughts, take care ❤
It’s very art imitates life isn’t it? People blaming the most empathetic, understanding and pure of heart character for the mistakes of everyone else. Loved Vi the most ❤️
People also don't seem to realise in that all of season one Cait respected Vi's will to go after her sister to support her. Yes, they did argue in S1 episode 7 but once Vi told Cait and Ekko at the bridge that she was going after Jinx Cait was the first one to accept it. Then the breakup in act one was because Cait didn't accept it. Vi's care of her sister didn't go away, she just hid it and Cait wanted to believe her. Finally seeing how Cait let Vi go after her sister once again is what makes Vi see that in the end Cait did change, but she changed back (with new experience) for and partly because of her.
Vi is one of the broken characters as well as Jinx. Just because she looks strong doesn't mean that she should react in a different way in that scene! It was a realization for her! Finally she eccaps Jinx how she is i think. She needed to see that! She needed to see Jinx doesn't want her help no matter what the reason. And seeing Caitlyn who understands her more than herself... I believe it unloked another layer of hers... Such a beautiful scene, i'm not going to let haters ruin it 🤗 Thank you for the video 🎉
I just watched a reactor earlier who straight up said that Vi didn’t “earn her happiness narratively” and I was flabbergasted….glad to know that not everyone has takes like that!!! Love the vid as always
I wonder what people would have wanted Vi to do. Jinx made it very clear that she doesn't want or need Vi's help anymore. Well she might need Vi's help but recognizes that she is unable to accept it. That why she locks Vi in the cell. And if anyone but ekko with a time machine would have found Jinx they would have just have been blown to pieces alongside her.
That is a very good point. Vi doesn’t just pull Jinx away from Isha’s blast, Vi risked her life to protect Jinx, potentially at the cost of her own. 😭 ❤
Many says "the romance was unnessesary". Vi and Caytlin talk each other with signs, the two understand that from the fifth chapter "wath let by , men or woman?" The eyes of Caytlin scream but her moth says "uuuhm"
"Vi deserves happiness." That's it. That should be all the defence necessary. Jinx gave her the go ahead, and she "cleared the air" with Cait. I honestly think it would've been worse for both had Vi gone after Jinx. Only Ekko could've done it, and that's only because he had the Z-drive.
Not to mention Jinx has a multiple hour head start on her most likely. Where would Vi even begin to look? If Jinx doesnt want to be found, she wont be found.
i dont really understand a lot of caitvi lovers wanted a sex scene and they are still not happy :( like i get it its on the wrong place but still, can vi have little happyness and forget about reality and big sister responsibilty for a second?
I don't know what's wrong with the place. This recreation of their first meeting was just beautiful and showed by the parallel how much their relationship evolved from being distrustful and jumpy to totally in sync.
There are a few 'shippers who are not happy, but most of the hate is coming from misogynistic dudebros defaulting to thinking the worst of the female/lesbian characters.
Well said, and thank you. I didn't know there was such criticism. It seems to me those folks missed one of the main points of Vi's arc and much of the significance of that moment itself.
I think the problem is that Jinxs fans think all is about her and for her and because of that they judge all the actions characters arround what they want to happend to Jinx. All characters are imperfects, Vi is imperfect, and her sister is too!! Jinx is a murderer terrorist, and Vi is hurt about that too, but she loves her sister and always is in defense of her, and trusting in her, until the end. In the jail, Jinx said to Vi "you're never gonna give up on me, are you?", because literaly, Vi always wanna a reason to think Powder is inside of her.
And on top of everything you said, Vi was in that cell for hours, Jinx was long gone. When Vi and Cait found Jinx in episode 3 it was not where Jinx lives. They still don't know where Jinx actually lives! Where would Vi have gone to 'save' Jinx? Ekko only knew where Jinx was because he saw it in the alternate universe. So even from a logistical perspective the 'Vi should have gone after Jinx' people are not making any sense.
Poor Vi didn't had much of an arc this season. I wished we would have stayed longer with emo Vi because I wanted her to explore her traumas. She had to deal with so much at such a young age and it was definitely eating away at her. She was drinking herself away to forget. When people don't need her anymore, she just let herself go. She needs to find a sense of self, it would have been interesting to see her on that journey and for her to find a new purpose of her own. Cait and Vi needed more time separated to be developed more as individuals imo.
All the problems of this season stem from the season being too rushed, unfortunately. But, in the end, I think that this is what Vi is. She is a protector. I really hope that in the future she finds a new purpose alongside Caitlyn, and that she won´t just stay as Caitlyn number 2.
I am 100% sure that Vi didn't thought that Jinx will khs cause when she came back for the fight Vi's said "you should not have comeback" Also as an audience we know that Jinx is done with life but Vi doesn't... Only time Jinx said something like that to her when she lost a fight
About this I was thinking about what Silco told Jinx, that we are all in a jail when it comes to loss and pain...when Caitlyn met Vi it was in a cell where she was grieving the loss of her family, and then she find her again in the same cell grieving her sister...BUT only and act of love can take us out of there, just like Jinx when Vi let everything behind to free her AGAIN behind Caitlyn´s back or Caitlyn trusting a Zaunite with all the reasons not to...I know it can be weird of it´s seen just from the outside, but Arcane is more than that, even Caitlyn loosing and eye is more meaningful that "she was fighting Ambessa, if she was unharmed it woudn´t be realistic"...symbolizes the lost of her sing during the season and a part of her self...one that was pretty characteristic of her for so long...
thank god someone shares this opinion. I find so many bad takes on the Internet from de timing and pacing of this scene I was getting seriously concerned...
If you listen to the song that is playing during the cell scene, the lyrics are (partially) about wanting to distract yourself. " can't believe that I'm in pain help me disassociate I just want to be a good passanger" What makes sense for Vi, since in that moment she is feeling like she only makes wrong decisions (what is ironical in that particular moment, yes) and just experienced another break up. We have seen that she does not handle break ups well. Instead of getting help, she decides to distract herself and numb her pain by getting drunk. This time she is also trying to get drunk, but with Caitlyn instead of alcohol. The line "and I'm thinking of you while I'm up here higher than god" could also me read as Vi thinking of Jinx. Or the song is from Caitlyn's perspective..that works, too... (Still stand by my reading that it is also a "Thank you" from Vi to Caitlyn.)
I imagined, "what if Ekko wasn't there to save Jinx?" even if Jinx had gave them their blessing and everything you pointed out, Vi still holds a lot of guilt towards her sister and isn't somenone to easily change her mindset so she would still feel as if Jinx was her responsibility even if Jinx didn't want to put this burden on Vi, so if Ekko didn't save her and Vi found out about Jinx's suicide while she was only thinking about herself and Caitlyn at that same moment, it could've changed EVERYTHING and I find those "what if" scenarios to be so interesting and sometimes so heartbreaking. Plus, I also believe that Vi wouldn't be able to talk Jinx out of it, when we care so deeply about someone and see them in a situation like that we fail to control our own emotions, Vi would probably be desperate, and differently from Ekko she would have only one chance, in which she could maybe fail, bcuz she would only prove to Jinx that she would never give up on her and would always leave her happiness aside, always holding onto the guilt she felt for leaving her, and once again never breaking the cycle, what would probably only push Jinx to end it all already.
I don't get how people think Vi not running after Jinx is her being selfish or bad!! How was she supposed to know what Jinx meant by "break the cycle". Vi has spent her whole life caring about and protecting Jinx, even Jinx said "you are never gonna give up on me, are you?". Jinx wanted Vi to be happy and relieved of the responsibility for her ( as well as the fact that she thinks everyone around her suffers and it's her doing even though it's not but to Jinx's mind it is and didn't want the same fate for Vi) and knowing Vi isn't gonna give up on her, she faked her death to help Vi move on. So if Jinx understands how much Vi cares for her and isn't gonna give up of her , how do people think Vi not running after her means she is selfish! That's insulting really 😅. It Simply means she lived in the moment and didn't know what " break the cycle" means.
All the Snowflakes tryin to hate on this scene!!!!!! This scene is what we have always wanted! I didnt expect Vi to be THAT saucy but you know what me and my friend LOVE IT!!!!!!! this relationship is so much better than bloody Reylo by an absolute longshot!! plus some people dont seem to realise that they could have died later on during the episode so why not get intimate and passionate right then and there in the moment, would have been a complete wasted oppitunity if Vi didnt let her hearts intense deep desire take over.
I firmly believe that although the ideas put on screen by the writers were good, both in an artistic and human point of view, they did her dirty, having less screen time than the previous season and not explaining or showing a bit more context on her trauma/self-destructing ways after she ended up pushing away Cait, while still not finding her sister. That same applies for this scene also, not showing how she came up to finally reach out for Cait (and then end up in THE SCENE), it feels like Vi needs defending, even from the writers themselves. Sorry for the rant, but this season left me feeling somewhat empty, even if I liked it a lot, had to vent it out somehow...
@@AndresSztaba I have to agree, I was so psyched at the start of Vi's pitfighter arc only for it to lead nowhere. From then on Vi became a prop for other characters... And I don't want to be a hater, I loved the show. I just wish they gave Vi the focus she deserved.
@@bababuja_no my thoughts exactly. Hell, she was by a mile my favorite character, and can relate to her in many ways (watched S1 while going throu a personal hell), and it still baffles me that they cut so much of from her. I can understand the need for the story to be ended in that short of a time, and I still liked it a lot, but it left me with that feeling of something missing along the way that would explain stuff and grow characters a bit more...
@@bababuja_no definetly better, maybe not ideal, but at least it made me learn to see stuff from other perspectives, so I think overall came up better haha

Don’t get me wrong she’s cute but in that case we could no longer get Jinx which in my opinion is a way more interesting character than Powder… Vi you deserve every single bit of happiness baby girl😢❤
Very well said. By the way, if the Final Scene was supposed to imply Jinx’s Survival and currently on her own journey, Where do you think she was heading and do you think we could see her again in future Projects, depending on when they take place?
Both deserved happiness. I want to hug her so badly. I just feel for Vi, also being an older sibling as well. I think that Jinx did survive. Do u remember her looking at the airship & saying something along the lines of "I'm going to fly one of those one day"? I think, correct me if I'm wrong, there was a scene with an airship flying away. I think that Jinx stowed away on that airship. I think that she is ok & I think that both Caitlyn & Vi know that she's ok as well.
its insane how people get upset with vi and cait finally getting together, she does deserve happiness. she ran after jynx for so long, she did everything
Я полностью поддерживаю и разделяю ваше видение. У меня были такие же мысли. Это очень многослойный сериал и смотреть его надо внимательно, чтобы понять мотивацию персонажей. К сожалению, не все смотрят внимательно.
I know you didn’t ask me, and I could be wrong about this. But my personal interpretation of the moment was Cait asking Vi for reassurance that she’s still “in this fight” as in “Are you still fighting for this life?” Her life being herself, her relationship with Cait, and whatever else she’s got going on at that moment. It was a moment of Cait seeking reassurance of their life together in spite of it all. And as we know- Vi always manages to keep fighting. At least that’s my thought 😅 Made me cry a bit (a lot).
@@wickedelfie1328 If she is in the fight of their relationship? Now I understand! And did you see Cait's face at the end when they focused on her and I noticed her worried and thoughtful?
Yeah I also saw this as seeking reassurance they're in it together because the struggle, the conflict, it kept them apart before - Caitlyn wanted to know if Vi can let go of some of that and be there in the present, that they won't be separated again by outside circumstances, and that's the reassurance she got being told Vi's there to stay.
Finally some love for my girl, she needs it ♥ sadly, there was also many homophobiic haters --" I'm very glad Vi got a happy ending at the end, her with Cait was the endgame
I think I've figured something out. The reason people don't like Vi isn't because she's a bad character, it's because of her fans. Vi is a GREAT character. She's strong, bith in physique and in will. She is an example of great writing. Part of that is that she's flawed. She doesn't think about her actions or how they could affect others. The just gets a whim and acts on it. It can be frustrating, especially in season one, but she's still SO COOL! The problem is, that Vi fans can't admit her flaws. They feel like Vi has never done anything wrong in this whole series, and it's insufferable. It pushes people who are not "Vi stans" toward hating the character. Does Vi deserve to be happy? YES!!! But the thought that it's ok for everyone else in the story to suffer through agony and thats ok, as long as Vi is happy doesn't sit well with anyone who has a different favorite.
@@derekmarshman6154 Pink haired girl from firelights. The firelights are a non violent faction in Zaun who just wanted to stop the spread and distribution of shimmer and she killed plenty of them. Ekko said it himself when he was explaining the mural to Vi.
@@alvinsmith3894 hahahahahahaha! The fire lights were attacking their shipment. You act like they were just minding their own business and Jinx came up and smoked them. Also, pink haired girl was no child. Dig your head out of your ass.
I mean my horror was the location. I am all for them expressing their feelings towards each other how ever they want (with concent). But in a dirty jail cell? One that Jinks was just moping around in. Also for caitlyn i am guessing vi’s hands are not clean. Uti’s suck. I am fine with them being horny and dragging each other to a better location. Some of the guard offices have to be clean. I mean being a squeamish asexual them going at it was always going to be a little uncomfortable. But i was more horrified than i wanted to be.
In my opinion I did not like the ending, it was too much material for three chapters. The scenes were going too fast, jumping from one to another and keeping up with it was a bit difficult! I do not like ambiguous endings, because everyone interprets them in different ways! The intimate scene between Vi and Cait that we were all waiting for was very short and I felt that it could have been better! It could have been similar to the one between Mel and Jayce! I have always heard that in stories the ending is the most difficult and that it can be an excellent series but if you are not careful with the ending you ruin everything! I think that is what happened, the creators left a lot of material for the last three chapters and the scenes were micro to be able to fit in so much! I did not like the ambiguous ending, and even the last scene where Cait asks Vi, ¿Are you still in this fight ? And I see Cait's face that they focus on thoughtful and somewhat sad! I did not understand that question!
Vi is consistently throughout the entire series doing what's best for someone else. Her entire life she's spending it in pursuit of the benefit of other people. Save for that one gratuitous scene in the prison cell. Every other moment of screen time she's being completely selfless.
That's exactly why it's *not* gratuitous, though. That love scene is the culmination of her second major arc. It's the moment when she is finally choosing herself for once.
@@jubimadethis They didn't need to go that far with it to get the same message across. that's why it was gratuitous. not because it happened, but because they did fan service with it.
@metoo7557 It was 2 minutes, and they had built up to it for 2 seasons. It needed to be given a little room to breathe in order for it to land for the audience it was intended for, and there is nothing wrong with them using 2 minutes of screen time for that. This show is much more about the characters and how they make us feel than it is about the plot, and them kissing and a fade out to black would not have been emotionally satisfying for the viewers who who were invested in that romance storyline. It also would have created a double standard in that Jayce and Mel were actually shown doing the deed. It was important to actually show at least a little of the sex in order to contribute to normalizing lesbian sex the same way hetero sex is normalized in media. They were delivering on the expectations they set up for their romance in S1, in multiple ways, and they knocked it out of the park.
@@jubimadethis It's an animation about a video game, it's not pr0.n light. They could have clipped it 10-15 second earlier. Mel And Jayce had cuts to mirror something else that was poignant to the storyline. Fan. Service.
@@metoo7557There were some fan service moments within the scene, yes, because that's how it's done. But the scene itself was not fan service, nor was it's length. If they'd actually realeased the full version, which was twice as long, you might have a point, but the scene we got was exactly as long as it needed to be to do all the things it needed to do, which is why they cut it where they did. You are not the intended audience for it, so it's not computing for you. 🤷♀️
My theory is that Vi was always meant to be a tragic character. Hence why the happier timeline is unfortunately the one without her in it. The timeline where she exists she has no family and she is always in constant conflict whether it's jinx, caitlyn or whoever else, this has been made more obvious when caitlyn mentions if she is ready to continue fighting. I feel like the writers were deliberate in showing us the AU for this reason. Vi being the only mc that doesn't have an obvious growth in the show, forever stuck at 14. The lesbians win but at what cost lol
I ain't made at Vi I just wished she tried to understand her sister has changed and had to change after they've been apart for 10 years that after the last time they saw each other what she said had affected her
@@jarvisfowlkes3200 she did though - once she realised after Isha she was supportive; also Jinx did not really accept Vi changed too, there's no right and wrong in this equation I think
@StopMeOh i'm not saying that is incorret i'm neutral on this point, i'm more on the camp that they could focus more in other parts of the story that didnt feel had the proper attention, but again Vi is kinda of the Protagonist of this story (in Season 2 at least Season Jinx feels more like the Protagonist) so make sense to have extra focus on her
@lulute8 I can totally understand that. I think there's a lot of valid opinions out there when it comes to this season, not all had to work for everyone - and I can see how with such a fast pace some people would prefer to place accents elsewhere
It's Riot who made the ship sail, who invested so much into it. It's a core plot point of the entire series featuring 3 of the primary characters, so of course they would spend time on it.
@danutghidia5820 you are welcome to accepting that as your truth. We can all say we wanted more, but to say it wasn't well done is a disingenuous. It was beautiful. Art. Subjective and imperfect. It was masterfully done.
@@808hearmannxea2her character has been nothing but consistent this season. Vi has always had two motivations: protecting the family and protecting the peace. She also has a major guilt complex. To start the season she thinks powder is dead so there’s no family left to protect. So she joins the enforcers because she feels guilty that her sister killed Cait’s mom and she believes stopping Jinx will bring back peace. Then she realizes her sister is still in there and can’t kill her because Vi is all about protecting the family. Because she can’t kill jinx, more people get hurt, Jinx still leaves her, and now Cait leaves her. So in her eyes she failed at both of her main objectives and now is alone, resulting in her spiraling and punishing herself through the only means she knows how: violence. Then Jinx comes to her saying Vander is back and needs her help. Of course that’s going to affect Vi, that’s her dad. So she goes and the family is reunited. She gets her sister back and her dad back + Isha. She reunites with Cait, whom she still cares for, and creates a plan to save her family. After the battle she tries to break Jinx out of prison which is totally in line with her character. That’s family and Vi wants to protect her. Jinx locks her up and Vi is devastated. Cait then comes and reveals that she essentially let Jinx escape. Of course that would mean the world to Vi. For once Vi doesn’t have to choose between her sister and her girlfriend. The fact that Cait went out of her way to help Jinx despite her hatred towards her impacts Vi and for good reason. For once Vi isn’t alone as the protector and doesn’t have to sacrifice her own happiness for the safety of others. If we think about it in season 1 Jinx made Vi choose between having Jinx and Caitlyn’s life. To start season 2 Caitlyn made Vi choose between having Cait and Jinx’s life. Finally she doesn’t have to choose and Vi is grateful and happy for that. She’s able to have what she wants, who she wants, without feeling guilt. So she and Cait have sex. It makes sense for her character. Vi doesn’t know about Jinx’s suicide attempts at this time so there is no reason for her to rush out or try to save Jinx. She doesn’t know anything’s wrong nor does she know where Jinx is. So I don’t think season 2 ruined Vi’s character. All of Vi’s actions are perfectly in line with who she was in season 1. That doesn’t mean all of her actions were correct, but they all made sense for her character.
See, I still have an issue when it comes to her responsibility regardless. Despite the fact that Jinx wanted Vi to let go, there is the issue that it should be common sense to not let go in THIS precise situation, because, she was here to FULLY understand the depth of her sister's despair unlike any of the events that preceded this episode. Jinx's intention of letting her be happy shouldn't matter, or rather, they should be ignored on purpose because this is the most dire the situation as ever been, if she must be there at some point, it has to be *now*. The attitude she had until then was due to how attached she was to her past sister. But in the previous act, she has grown close to her present sister. They reconciliated in what was perhaps the most cathartic scene of the entire show. Her previously obsessive and unhealthy love and attempts to help her had no reason to be as toxic as they used to, because they now have an understanding of each others that they thought was definitely severed at the end of S1. At this point, going her own way is not just getting what she deserves, and it would lead to something she wouldn't EVER forgive herself for if Ekko wasn't here to save the situation. She would, in fact, TRULY be responsible **for once**, because this time, she was there to be a sister, she was there to understand and be supportive, she didn't have reasons to be unsure about who was her sister anymore, but she **chose** to not come. A moment that could show things are different now. She could go after Jinx, and STILL be happy, no, be at her happiest. Because there is nothing to stop them indeed ! The only requirement for them to be happy is for Jinx to leave on her own at the end, which doesn't require ... Well this to happen. But instead, it has her completely miss the mark here. And not only that, but the second matter is also that a lot of us take a huge issue with her having such strong feelings toward Cailtyn in the first place. Like, we are just not sold on it, that's what a lot of negative feelings about it also about. Not only does it feel crazy when we know her background, we expect the end of Act 4 to at least open her eyes a little, make her take a step back, and the middle of Act 5 pushes her again to reevaluate her priorities and become closer to her sister again after she has been thrown away so easily. The issue with Vi isn't just that she ignored her sister, but that she did it for someone she ... Probably doesn't feel like she should even like at all in the eyes of a lot of people. Why is she feeling SO bad about Caitlyn's mother ? Why is she treating Caitlyn like she is the closest person she has ever been to after 24 hours of meeting her ? Why is she betraying all of her principles so easily for such shallow love ? How can she possibly be EQUALLY torn between Jinx and Caitlyn after episode 5 brought her the greatest amount of healing she has clearly ever experienced on screen, showing where her heart lie ? Prior to that, it's more understandable, because Jinx acted Silco's side, and she could hate that fact, but that aspect is not explored much, in favor of how she mysteriously love Caitlyn so much.
Caitlin is the one who got V out of prison, without her V and Jinx/Powder would never have met again. Caitlin was the one who helped V the most in the first season, protecting her, saving her, while Jinx tried to kill her many times. Caitlin was the one who cared most about both cities, wanted peace for them and V saw this. She feels guilty for Caitlin's mother, because she was the one who stopped Jinx from being shot at the end of the first season
You asked a lot of questions, but there's only one answer for each one of them. Vi is in love with Caitlyn. She's the number 1 person in Vi's life ALONG with Jinx AND Vander (also probably her parents who are unfortunately dead). And her love for Caitlyn, or rather THEIR LOVE isn't shallow. I'm sorry, but if you think their love is shallow then you must've not watched the first season, or even like the first act of season 2 to misunderstand their act 3 sex scene so bad and the decision Vi makes in that cell. I feel like it's easier to call their love shallow for people just because Caitlyn is a woman. If a man did all of that for Vi - saved her life a couple of times, listened to her, gave her a reassuring touch every now and then - people wouldn't even question that, they'd be like "hell yeah, that man is important, that is the love of Vi's life and is equally as important as her sister". Unfortunately we live in a sad reality where women loving other women romantically is equated to... like what exactly? Personally I think people view Caitlyn and Vi as friends and that's the main issue with this. You get me? You can leave your friends to save your sister, but Caitlyn is so much more to Vi than just a friend. And let's never forget Vi TRIED to save Jinx even WITH Caitlyn around, it's happened more than 10 times I'm pretty sure. And the "mysterious love". How is it mysterious? You sit in a prison for like 7 years, you see a beautiful woman who frees you, there's the physical attraction, there's some banter/flirting, she SAVES YOUR LIFE multiple times? She cares for you? I'd fold quickly... I think people really blow this "evil Caitlyn" arc way out of proportion. She was never evil at heart. She's the one who didn't hesitate to touch a Zaunite when she found that wounded guy on that airship in s1e4. She hugged Huck with all of the ugly stuff on his head! Just lost her mind a bit when her mom got owned by Jinx, but she came back quite quick honestly. Her trauma gets brushed under the rug just because she's rich and had a presumably comfortable life (the "comfortable life" is only true when it comes to financial stuff though, because we know her parents used to be overprotective of her and didn't let her explore the world like she wanted to and that topic was brought up in season 1 as well)... The only real "issue" I can understand about the sex scene is that it is kinda weird that it happened in the same jail scene where Jinx was, yes. But I think the writers wanted to make it look like a realistic "heat of the moment" kind of thing - imagine this as follows: 1. You fall in love with someone absolutely amazing. 2. Your sister kills your love's mom. 3. Your love gets depressed, extremely overcome with rage, in general becomes mentally unstable, HATES your sister's guts and wants to kill her. 4. You two seperate because of that and the conflict this unstability causes, also your love loses some of her trust towards you. 5. Your love thinks stuff through, slowly rids herself of the rage and becomes more stable. 6. You two reunite. 7. Your love regains trust in your decisions and understands what she did was bad (that's what happened with Cait, she let Vi go into an unguarded prison and get Jinx out despite still having that cruel thing Jinx did to her in mind). 8. Your love forgives your sister and even trusts her small apology, basically lets a criminal be broken out ("I didn't know your mother was there" being the apology). 9. You're overwhelmed with emotion because that's all you ever wanted, for your love to trust you, for your love to trust your most precious family member and in the heat of the moment and amidst the realization of it all you have sex. I don't think it's that complicated. It might be jarring when you're watching that scene for the first time, because it is an unusual writing choice. But is it not realistic? In my opinion it is realistic. Just Vi letting all her love and emotions pour out and showing Cait how much she cherishes what she's finally done for her, even if it was really hard for her (most likely, dealing with someone who killed your mom must be painful as fuck). We've grown very accustomed to media showing us sex scenes that are very fake, almost preplanned? Like ok, here's a bed and now we fuck. While this is good from a writing standpoint, because it's safe, they chose a route that shows humanity and rawness. A bit more risky, but it is human and very real.
My 2 cents is that jayce and viktor are infinite times more interesting than vi/cait/jinx. My experience was get throught all jinx scenes just to watch jayce and the others, for me viktor and singed are the coolest ones followed by ekko, heimer. I feel like in many points season two drop the ball, they build a season one around piltover vs zaun and in season two is piltover vs noxus, everything is too rush, we don't get to figure out time skips properly. We can't ever feel sorrow for lost caracters, like the little girl who died, we didn't follow jinx after that, we heard from cait that she surrender and watch her in jail with stupid long hair out of nowhere, i feel like episode 7 is the best one because explain super well how ekko kit work, it make sense now, what i didn't knew is that him and powder had a fling. Something i would do if i was Ekko would be figuring how to change dimensions so he can cheat on himself with Powder.. like is it cheating if you date the same person from another universe?
Sorry, but Jinx was in a really bad place after Isha's death, she looked like she had totally given up and was talking suicidal ("there's no good version of me", "you don't have to worry about me", "I'm going to end the cycle")... whether Vi believed Jinx was actually going to off herself or not (which she was), these are major red flags and Vi should have been doing everything possible to make sure Jinx was ok. Yes, Vi deserves happiness and sexytime with Cait, but I will never be convinced that THIS was the right time for that. Make sure your little sister is safe and is doing alright first, then get it on all you want.
That's why I'm convinced that some more conversation between the sisters apart of those phrases would have built up to the scene a lot better. Same goes when she ends up locked and processing all of that, begrudgingly accepting her sister's decision (even if she was still not telling her she was gonna off herself), knocking the walls, or whatever, but slowly realizing that she might be right. Then the conversation with Cait that ends up with the s*x scene, have her say (even not openly, use some other wording) that she didn't want to hurt her when they argued about finishing Jinx with Isha in the way and all that stuff, and then go full bananas. I have no issue with the scene at all, and all the weight it has (in fact i liked it, I said "well, f*kin finally"), but some things to me feel like taken out and that makes it somewhat off. Not to mention the final scene, made me feel so empty. Gods, for how much I liked it, I hate how that left me thinking...
Yes but how does Vi accomplish this? Shes most likely been locked up for hours. Jinx has shimmer. Jinx knows how to hide in the undercity. If she doesnt want to be found, she won't be. So sure, Vi is devastated, but realistically how is the correct course of action to just start running in a random direction in hopes of finding her? I just don't see it. She has Cait there, a cait who now believes in her, and a Jinx who gave her her blessing. I think its perfectly fine if that prison scene plays out the way it does.
I get the reason why, i agree she deserves it, but it still felt so out of place in this point in the story and in the episode itself? We didnt have time to process the dynamic changes before they happened (not too long ago caitlyn went around using the grey and bringing a police state to piltover and now we're chill?). It feels like a conclusion to an episode we didnt get - thats why i kinda wish it wasn't there at all.
The conflict was not forgiven. They simply had a greater enemy at the doors of their house and they had to straighten their sails to their cause. Many people don't realize that xD
Also, what consequences do you expect there to be? Caitlyn is the one who gives the order, if she asks not to stop her, they won't, that's how it works when you're in charge xD
Plus lots of random moments of Jinx being the symbol of rebellion and Sevika trying to rally people but nothing came of this at all? Yes I'm aware Jinx saved them from prison but nothing happened after this. It’s meh
Vi deserves every single second of being happy she is the only character that deserves to be happy honestly… I don’t get how some people (Jinx/Powder) fans would say the world would be better if she died… so you could get Powder? Don’t get me wrong she’s cute but in that case we could no longer get Jinx which in my opinion is a way more interesting character than Powder… Vi you deserve every single bit of happiness baby girl😢❤

If ANYBODY in this series deserves happiness it's Vi. Her character flaw is that she never gives up on people she cares about and she admits that's causing her to lose everyone. Caitlyn needed to reassure Vi that is not a character flaw, it's a great quality to have to never give up on people.
That's really well said 👏
No she doesn't. The world is better off with out her.
Agreed!
I agree
Согласна, с одной лишь оговоркой: не думаю, что Вай не доверяла Кейтлин, когда та вызвалась помочь Вандеру.
Honestly didn't realize people think Vi doesn’t deserve happiness...
I thought it was clear that her sister was gonna commit s*icide, so as a sapphic with dead friends I was horrified when they made out
Not because it was Vi's fault or bc she didn't deserve a happy relationship, I didn't see it from Vi's perspective at all
Idk s*cide is a heavy topic and it gloomed over the entire three minute scene for me, I didn't hate Vi or comment on this topic at all tho
I knew a smart youtuber would explain it to me :D
Arcane season 2 episode 7, a world with out VI is better than with her.
Literally like I don’t think vi needs much defense honestly, did we all watch the same show??
@PeachHeadzAddiction tbh, from Vi's pov I didn't think Jinx's lines implied she was committing s*icide. We knew that it was implied because we as the audience saw her inner thoughts with Silco a few minutes before, but Vi? She have her own traumas and by the way she was talking when Caitlyn arrived she was spiraling and blaming herself for things she couldn't control again. Besides, let's be honest, there's nothing Vi could do to help Jinx. She wasn't the right person to reach Jinx at that moment.
@@robertnoble6661 it's horrible for anyone to say that !
She also just doesnt know where she would go look
@@saeyyyThis is a really wonderful point, thank you!
Because both of them are stubborn kids 😂
If only their dad is alive lmao so yeah, Vi needs Cait and Jinx needs someone else except for Vi to help her.
Personally, I think there are two main things that cause Vi to react the way she does in this scene, after finding out Caitlyn broke the rules to help Jinx escape the jail cell
The first is that she realizes that underneath everything, this is the still the same Caitlyn who freed Vi back when they first met. The same person who takes risks on people she should have every reason to distrust or even despise. The same person she fell in love with
And the second is that this decision by Caitlyn tells Vi she didn't just make the wrong choice and ruin everything again.
This and this!!!
Прекрасно сказано, подписываюсь под каждым словом
Absolutely agree with you there.
This is why I'll always love this show. It trusts its viewers enough to put so much meaning behind a single touch.
Vi has never known long lasting comfort, her character breaks my heart especially all the hate her character gets for simply existing
May I quote Vander (S2E7) on your summary?
"You need to fill your own cup every now and again."
Thx for the video! ❤
Yes!, finally somebody brought that genius foreshadowing callback up. Great catch!
Nicely put
I love that Caitlyn suspects that Jinx escaped the last explosion, but didn't tell Vi. Jinx deserves a chance at happiness, through a fresh start, in Caitlyn's eye, but Caitlyn knows Vi would try to connect with Jinx.
The last scene of Caitlyn reminded me of the flashback scene, with Grayson, on the balcony in season 1; Caitlyn found her reward for protecting the people of the city.
"in Caitlyn's eye (single)" :')
I actually think Vi's response in this situation is very much how most real people would react in similar circumstances.
@@jasonmkc7797100%
Absolutely hahah
What I like is that I don't think Caitlyn will ever forgive Jinx for what she has done, but she still decided to let go of her hatred and desire of revenge because she realised it was poisoning her life and she hurted people because of that.
It's a very good message, you can move on and let go of your anger but it doesn't mean you have to forgive everything.
@jujublue4426 completely agreed, beautifully said!
@lockekappa500 I think you are saying you agree with me, but for some reason I feel attacked xD
@@peppecrea7414 I think maybe I posted this on the wrong comment, (although it kind of still applies!) haha.
I'm still here."
Seriously, Vi is that person you just wanna give a hug and protect at all cost. Hasn't she suffered enough? She deserves all the happiness in the world.
YES! I agree with everything you said. I absolutely have NO IDEA why some are just hate commenting on Vi. I feel it's just their lack of comprehension skills.
" I feel it's just their lack of comprehension skills" HAHAHA TOTALLY AGREE
Совершенно точно подмечено
Sometimes its also because some people become very identified and atached to a character and its harder for them to understand or see things from other characters perpective. I know a person Who's been abused in the past and sufers ptsd who cant see past the time when vi slaped her sister and called her a jinx. But i think the problem there is more a ''this hapened in my life in a certain similar way and cant get past that'' comparison than ''i dont understand this character''.
AFTER EVERYTHING THAT VI HAS ENDURED AND FACED,I WOULD SAY THAT WITHOUT A DOUBT THAT SHE NEEDED THIS MORE THAN ANYTHING!SHE DESERVES TO BE HAPPY!
I agree with you!
Totally agree. I love them so much.
As i said... you won't convince pigeons...
So many pigeons.
@broadwaybroad so many vi cultists.
@@derekmarshman6154 Oh hush up. No one cares what you think.
I'll just play Arcane on a loop for the next year.😅
Просто надо внимательно смотреть шоу
Totally agree, rewatching is KEY. Everyone is just upset right now they didn’t get more of this amazing show
A lot of people in Arcane INCLUDING Vi deserve happiness
@@jujublue4426 💯 percent agree.
That last part 👌👌👌
I have been warching some of your reactions for a while now, but this is the first time I watch one of your essay, and I have to pay you some respect. You really have an intelligent and deep understanding of the show, and I like it, because Arcane is crafted with care, and attention to the detail, and it pisses me off when people are missing key points like these. Ty for your thoughts, take care ❤
@@toutankill thanks a lot, really appreciate it!
Great analysis. People don't see how ingeniously the plot shows the journey of the characters' inner battles.
Such a beautiful scene, i'm not going to let haters ruin it 🤗
Thank you for the video 🎉
I just watched a reactor earlier who straight up said that Vi didn’t “earn her happiness narratively” and I was flabbergasted….glad to know that not everyone has takes like that!!! Love the vid as always
I wonder what people would have wanted Vi to do. Jinx made it very clear that she doesn't want or need Vi's help anymore. Well she might need Vi's help but recognizes that she is unable to accept it. That why she locks Vi in the cell. And if anyone but ekko with a time machine would have found Jinx they would have just have been blown to pieces alongside her.
Thank you so much for this
Thank you!! Vi is my fav character and I just want her to be happy. I still thinks she needs a ton of therapy but I'm happy she's with Cait :)
The dirt under their nails.

Iove the scene vi deserves happines
If Jinx doesnt want to be found, she wont be found.
i dont really understand a lot of caitvi lovers wanted a sex scene and they are still not happy :(
like i get it its on the wrong place but still, can vi have little happyness and forget about reality and big sister responsibilty for a second?
I don't know what's wrong with the place. This recreation of their first meeting was just beautiful and showed by the parallel how much their relationship evolved from being distrustful and jumpy to totally in sync.
There are a few 'shippers who are not happy, but most of the hate is coming from misogynistic dudebros defaulting to thinking the worst of the female/lesbian characters.
Well said, and thank you. I didn't know there was such criticism. It seems to me those folks missed one of the main points of Vi's arc and much of the significance of that moment itself.
First Chloe and now Vi, people really have something against these two women, don`t they? I will forever defend both Vi and Chloe until the end
FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT. I would just like to add that that was possibly the last time they see each other + who even knows where Jinx went (Sevika)
Guys how do I "like" this video 9,999 more times?
Louder for the people in the back!!
I am 100% sure that Vi didn't thought that Jinx will khs cause when she came back for the fight Vi's said "you should not have comeback"
Also as an audience we know that Jinx is done with life but Vi doesn't...

@@StopMeOh how YOU doing, you beautiful thing :P
thank god someone shares this opinion. I find so many bad takes on the Internet from de timing and pacing of this scene I was getting seriously concerned...
Your video essay was extraordinary. Well done my dear.
If you listen to the song that is playing during the cell scene, the lyrics are (partially) about wanting to distract yourself.
" can't believe that I'm in pain
help me disassociate
I just want to be a good passanger"
What makes sense for Vi, since in that moment she is feeling like she only makes wrong decisions (what is ironical in that particular moment, yes) and just experienced another break up.
Thanks!!!, finally someone with my same thoughts
The fact that Vi needs defending fills me with sadness...

Very well said.
By the way, if the Final Scene was supposed to imply Jinx’s Survival and currently on her own journey,
Where do you think she was heading and do you think we could see her again in future Projects, depending on when they take place?
Both deserved happiness. I want to hug her so badly. I just feel for Vi, also being an older sibling as well. I think that Jinx did survive. Do u remember her looking at the airship & saying something along the lines of "I'm going to fly one of those one day"?
I think, correct me if I'm wrong, there was a scene with an airship flying away. I think that Jinx stowed away on that airship. I think that she is ok & I think that both Caitlyn & Vi know that she's ok as well.
THIS!!!!!!!
its insane how people get upset with vi and cait finally getting together, she does deserve happiness. she ran after jynx for so long, she did everything

Are you still in this fight, Violet? What did you understand from that question that Cait asked Vi?
I know you didn’t ask me, and I could be wrong about this. But my personal interpretation of the moment was Cait asking Vi for reassurance that she’s still “in this fight” as in “Are you still fighting for this life?” Her life being herself, her relationship with Cait, and whatever else she’s got going on at that moment. It was a moment of Cait seeking reassurance of their life together in spite of it all. And as we know- Vi always manages to keep fighting. At least that’s my thought 😅 Made me cry a bit (a lot).
It was about perseverance! That’s the correct word! ✨
Facts
LMAO. Jinx stans literally defend her murdering of innocents and children. Calm down.
@alvinsmith3894 when did Jinx murder children?
@@derekmarshman6154 Pink haired girl from firelights. The firelights are a non violent faction in Zaun who just wanted to stop the spread and distribution of shimmer and she killed plenty of them. Ekko said it himself when he was explaining the mural to Vi.
@@alvinsmith3894 hahahahahahaha! The fire lights were attacking their shipment. You act like they were just minding their own business and Jinx came up and smoked them. Also, pink haired girl was no child. Dig your head out of your ass.
Hey, I’m a Vi Stan (my pfp says it all) but I could still see her flaws (even fatal ones).
True
ViCait < Jacktor < Pokko < Silinder
Remember episode 7 of season 2, the world is much better with out Vi.
Of course the biggest VIxCaitlyn suporter will defende any scene that makes your ship sail.
@lulute8 😅 but hey, does not make my stand incorrect!
At some point we just have to accept its just not that well done. I love Vi, but everything around her has been underwhelming this season
@danutghidia5820 you are welcome to accepting that as your truth. We can all say we wanted more, but to say it wasn't well done is a disingenuous. It was beautiful. Art. Subjective and imperfect. It was masterfully done.
Yeah nah Vi's character been trash all season besides episode 3... Co isnt justified for anything this season...
@@808hearmannxea2 you are wrong. Feel free to trap yourself in that ideology.
@@aeiresslumpkin4866 Good review!
But I think the writers wanted to make it look like a realistic "heat of the moment" kind of thing - imagine this as follows:

Yep, that's just your opinion. Don't impose.
The scene is poorly paced and written. Its just a bad taste scene
Disagree
They put millions of dollars on sex scene rather than settling the piltover vs zaun conflict. The conflict just vanished & forgotten. S2 mid as heck.
Also there are zero consequences for jinx’s prison break. Making time skip as an excuse for poor writing.
It’s meh
