First, great video. I just took a trip from Washington State to Colorado and back. For the first day of the trip I made a serious attempt to use the temporary FSD"supervised" that Tesla downloaded to my car. Many issues, especially going through metro areas and on occasion attempting to turn off the road on exit lanes. However two really dangerous incidents occurred. In both cases I was approaching a construction site. The road was restricted to one lane in these places and traffic was slowing down as cars merged into a single lane. In both cases FSD decided to move over to the faster lane to pass the decelerating cars and almost drove straight into the construction site. This is a very dangerous flaw in my opinion. I will say this. You will never fall asleep while using FSD due to the constant fear of what it will do next. No way is this system ready for use on public roads.
Excellent! The intense FSD experience, combined with the sound, can really keep a person on the edge of their seat. I felt tense during my first FSD experience as well, with my hands staying close to the wheel the entire time.
Nine years ago, my EV was T-boned by a careless transport bus driver. The car was totaled, and I’m still dealing with the physical consequences today. It only takes one mistake-by a person or a machine-to result in serious or minor injury. For me, FSD is simply too risky. There are too many technical, physical, and human variables introducing uncertainty. Having logged over 1.5 million miles of driving over the past few decades, I have seen plenty of accidents (mostly in California), I’ve learned that "close enough" doesn’t cut it when it comes to safety. Just my humble opinion. Thank you for sharing. I love your videos!. Stay safe and healthy. 🙂
I test drive it last weekend for 2 days and we drove from Vancouver wa to Portland Oregon flawlessly in traffic and at night. It didn't stop at speed bumps, pot holes or objects in the road
Liked most of the FSD free trial but I live in FL and there’re a lot of merging lanes on the highway. For some reason Tesla detects the arrow on the road but still try to go into those lanes for “better speed”. Another thing is that even if I turn off auto speed and set limit high, it still drives super slow on certain roads. Honestly if Tesla can fix these 2 issues I would’ve thought about buying it for real.
This video stressed me out so much. Chris, you and Everyday Jan have nerves of steel! I tried FSD over a year ago and it didn’t do so well making a left from a double turn lane. The neighboring car in the #1 lane confused it and it stopped in the middle of the intersection. I took over and haven’t tried it since. That was discouraging because Carlsbad is a very easy city to drive in - well designed intersections and fairly tame drivers on the surface streets. I enjoy driving and being in control of the car. Maybe I have trust issues, but I think it will be a couple of years of hearing consistently good reviews before I would feel comfortable trying FSD again.
I love my FSD trial and ASS works pretty well. It does decently throughout OC and Irvine, so I'm pretty happy with it... I think FSD is like 90% there for when I'm too old to drive haha
My Cybertruck’s FSD does not work great and Dirty Tesla’s experiments with obstacles in the road had terribly disappointing results. Maybe FSD will become a better driver than I am, but right now it’s way more stressful to let FSD drive than to just drive myself. I appreciate you posting these videos with both the good and the bad included!
I don't like the new Auto Speed settings. I did figure out though that if you have speed set to Auto you can use your foot to set the speed rather then using the scroll ball all of the time. I like how cautious the system is. Except for the fact that it's constantly trying to slow down, I feel like my foot is constantly on the acc. Lol other than that though FSD ( at least In Tucson, AZ ) has been amazing. The other day during a rain/hail storm I had the car come get me in the Costco parking lot so that was cool Oh wow! I just realized you’re in LBC, we live off of Redondo and PCH in Signal Hill. I’m gonna be taking the Tesla over there in December, is there any good charging stations you can recommend, whether it be destinations, supercharger, or public? Will be coming from Tucson, AZ. Thanks in advance!!!

This is one of those situations where Tesla programmed it to be too perfect. They need to make it where if you are a certain distance away from the intersection and traveling a certain speed, run it if the light turned yellow.
