I once worked with a patient who was an elevator attendant in a Ritzy hotel back in the 1960’s. She said at that time many stars used her elevator and at the time some white people were openly rude to her. Elvis entered her elevator and immediately began a conversation. He asked her about her life and if she had children. She said he was very kind and appeared genuinely interested in her life. A year later, he once again stayed in the hotel and stepped into her elevator. She said he had the biggest smile, greeted her by her name, asked about her children and even remembered their names as well. This sweet woman in her 80s told me this 40 years after its occurrence. Elvis certainly left her with a good impression.

There is a trauma center named after Elvis in Memphis. Here's the story on that. "In 1975, Elvis Presley made a significant donation to the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. The donation was used to build a new Trauma Center at the hospital, and as a result of his generosity, the center was named the "Elvis Presley Trauma Center." This donation was a significant one, and it is believed that the center was one of the first of its kind in the United States, providing state-of-the-art care for trauma patients.
The donation was not only monetary, Elvis also had made personal visits to the hospital over the years and had a strong bond with the hospital staff and patients."
There is also the little blind girl that Elvis saw at a concert. He stopped the show to talk to her. We don't know what he said to her because he turned off (or handed off) his microphone. He had his manager pay for surgery to give her back her sight.

$1,000 in the 1950's is like $25-$30,000 today.
This really shows how generous he was.

I was so presently surprised to see this!! Thank you for the shout out, but most importantly it means the world that you reacted to this. Elvis was such a beautiful man. Inside and out. He gave back and at the end of the day, he was human. You get it, and it brings joy to my heart. All the negative on his name needs to be flipped, because of horrible rumors. Elvis loved all people and his fans will love and have his back til the end. ❤❤❤❤

Elvis gave away Cadillac cars all the time often if he rode by a dealership he would pull over and buy everyone on the lot a car. Money was only a way to give to others. He saw an elderly woman on TV that was so poor her husband built her a crate with wheels to get around. He went to her house with a state of the arts wheel chair, she didn't even know who he was. When he left her house his buddy said, she didn't recognize you, he said, that's fine. If you complimented his jewelry he'd take it off and give it to you. No one has ever been that generous, in my lifetime that was an entertainer. That is why so he is so loved and why people who don't know him, can't understand why he is so loved. I appreciate your great reactions.💖

Elvis never claimed his charity donations on his taxes, he bought houses for several friends as a surprise, he stopped and paid for a car he saw a couple looking at decided he would give them that as a gift. He never bragged and he kept most private. He did it from his heart and never for recognition

Another special moment is when Elvis brought up on stage a young blind girl. He put his red scarf around her neck and hugged her and told her that he would do anything he could to help her. He truly was a generous man through out his life & I wish the entertainment media today would show the new generation viewers more of this side of Elvis.

I met Elvis in 1993, when I was 5 years old, through a documentary that aired here in Brazil, on the Rede Record television station, in that documentary it said that he was the king, that he sang gospel, etc. He was the first artist I fell in love with, that is, that I became a fan of. Over time I always knew that Elvis was a charitable person, although I don't remember where I read about it at first, because I never saw it on TV or in the media publicizing the loving person he was... Years later, looking back On the internet, I researched Elvis's charitable side and I was fascinated, I remembered that I knew he was charitable.
People like Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson have always been examples for me, in the way they spoke to their fans, and also in their charitable gestures. Today, I look at countless shitty artists, who do fake charity just to burnish the dirty image they have, who are good to their fans only in front of the cameras, but who always have an arrogant side exposed and I feel ashamed of them, without talk about sexual, pornographic, empty, egocentric songs, attached to fame, money, etc... and I'm very happy because everything I learned about Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson and many other artists of the past was the complete opposite of the new generation of artists, because the artists of the past, especially Elvis, loved their audience, sang with their soul and gave their all to their fans, because they wanted to deliver the best to their fans. I'm grateful to God that he, Yahweh, converted me while I listened to Elvis sing the Gospel Medley from the '68 Comeback Special.
Great reaction, congratulations. Ah, you have a very beautiful, very pleasant voice, which conveys gentleness, a warm feeling.
    Hugs from Brazil!

I look forward to seeing the King on 'Kings' for your thoughtful reactions. More people should be made aware of these documentaries about Elvis as an antidote to all the sensationalist nonsense. You're spot on with the greed of today's mega rich, they should take a leaf out of Elvis's book and the world would be a better place. The documentary '200 cadillacs' really blew my mind the first time I saw it. As for songs to react to some of my favourites are - Just pretend, I just can't help believing, Love letters, Like a Baby, It's still here (and the other 750+!!)

This is just the tip of the iceberg,he did many ,many more kind acts, like for example he use to send a fleet of limousines around Memphis every week to take the old folks ,shopping,Doctors ,church , wherever they wanted to go !He also use to send soft toys into kids Hospitals every week, and use to hand out some of his rings at his Concerts to the disabled children on the front row and have his security escort them home as they were worth thousands and he would always tell the kids" that's for a rainy day!" There are loads more stories that i know of ,try watching,200 Cadillacs Elvis Presley ,the documentary showing the cars he bought for people !👍

Elvis paid for Jackie Wilson's hospital care when he got very I'll. Jackie Wilson was a great friend and an amazing singer in that era. Even after Elvis died the Elvis estate continued paying for his hospital care. There's a video of Jackie Wilson's son mentioning this. By the way Jackie Wilson was an amazing singer that you should review on your channel too. His nickname was Mr excitement and had many big hits in the 50's 60's in particular

So many celebrities over the years (not all) have been grossly wasteful or selfish with their good fortune - but Elvis grew up poor and was also a religious man & he never forgot where he came from as well as who got him there - his fans. This video good as it is still doesnt include so many other good deeds Elvis did, and the people that worked for him were always treated well and paid well.

You also need to view the amounts of money raised in today's terms, the Arizona Memorial, the purchase of FDR's yacht, the Hawaii Show and the Jackson Tornado show would all be the equivalent of over $600,000 now ...
My favourite tale is of him buying Cadillacs at Madison Cadillac in Memphis in July 1975, when he saw a middle aged black lady, a bank teller, peering through the window at the latest model. He asked for her to be invited in, asked her which one she liked and promptly wrote two cheques, one for the car, and one to her for $1,000 because " a lady's going to need new clothes to go with her new car ". The clothes cheque alone would now be worth $5,700+ ...

An employee of Elvis Presley once said: "Elvis really loved people and he wanted to make everyone happy"! Elvis Presley regularly donated to 50 charities. And when he was out and about, he always gave gifts to people. He gave away money, houses, cars, jewelry and paid for several expensive operations for people who were seriously ill. When he heard that a black woman could no longer leave her house because she didn't have a wheelchair, he immediately bought the best and most expensive wheelchair. When a well-known black artist became ill (but was poor), Elvis paid for a nursing home over a long period of time and later paid for the funeral. Until the end, Elvis had a long correspondence with a little girl who was seriously ill.

I've commented before and I absolutely love Elvis' ability to sing. This short video was nice, too, while it hardly covered what we know of Elvis' charitable efforts when, of course, the vast majority of his giving will never be known because he typically insisted on anonymity. But another fantastic thing he did was after his friend, the great Jackie Wilson had a major heart attack, Elvis not only paid the $38,000 hospital bill, but also paid for Jackie's time in a nursing home for several years and that support only ended because Elvis sadly died, himself.
He also once read of a woman who needed a wheelchair and showed up with Sonny West and perhaps one other guy and lifted the woman up into the wheelchair and showed her how to use it as was the latest and best electric model out. While when they left, Sonny said "Elvis, you know, I don't think that woman had any idea who you are," to which Elvis responded, "that's fine, but now she at least knows somebody cares."
So, to me, I've always viewed Elvis as LOVE and when you watch videos like this or read the stories, it's hard not to love the man and not wish we had more people like him in the world today!
God bless and another great video!!!

Jane H commenting …. Elvis was one of the kindest people on the planet, & he gave so much more than shown here. Elvis got his greatest happiness when he saw the happiness on the face of someone he had been able to help, & many people who received help from him, never knew who had helped them. He was a deeply spiritual person who loved Jesus & God, & he said that God had blessed him with a voice than enabled him to make a good living, in order for him to be able to share that with people in need. At Christmas, he would enlist the help of friends & family, to find out what his employees really needed or wanted, & that was what they would get from him. Ditto for friends & family. He would make it his business to know what they wanted or needed, & that is what he would get for them. He just loved making other people happy.

Another great reaction! Love seeing your facial reactions as you absorb the information. It is great that you are taking time to learn about the depth of character and heart in Elvis. He knew from personal experience what it was like to be poverty stricken and he loved to make people happy, whether by just signing an autograph , giving away his jewellery , paying a mortgage or visiting prisoners in jail on Christmas Day!!
He once said he could never earn enough money to forget what it felt like to be dirt poor, and that his fans could have the shirt off his back, because they put it there. I’ve loved Elvis for 63 years since I heard his voice on a radio when I was 3 years old. Children loved Elvis because we instinctively knew him to be kind.

It has been estimated that during Elvis' life he earned somewhere between $100 million and $1 billion dollars. When he died, his estate at the time was estimated at $5 million. Just taking the $100 million figure, after taxes, payroll, domestic expenses and the like, it becomes clear that during his lifetime, Elvis gave away tens of millions of dollars to charities, his friends, employees and family and, in many cases, to total strangers. That does not include the monies raised through charitable concerts - for which, by the way, Elvis footed the entire bill and took no expense money for himself or his entourage. Just according to this video, Elvis was instrumental in helping to end polio, giving a head start to St. Jude's Children's hospital, and was the largest single contributor tothe building of the USS Arizona War Memorial. (When it was completed, Elvis visited, looked down at the waters and said "Those guys are still down there.") We will never know about most of his charitable contributions, and that's the way Elvis wanted it. When he heard about a family who lost their home at Christmastime, he rented them an apartment, completely furnished it and made sure the kids got gifts. He also gave strict instructions that the family was not to be told that Elvis was involved - they were to be told it all came from Santa Claus. King of Kindness, indeed.

Yep, actually that's not really well known as they were having a very had time getting people vaccinated against Polio and it was a very low number of individuals who were having their kids do so. But not very long after Elvis took the shot and started doing PR, the disease was pretty much fully eradicated a short time, thereafter, Kings. People today, too, don't really realize what a scourge polio was at one time, too.

So basic and so simple in theory "I just try to treat people like I want to be treated" ... So much sh.t that could have been avoided if everyone took that sentence to hart..

It's noteworthy to remember that the monetary figures are worth much more in today's money. Like 10k would be close to 100k today.

There is another video called "A Generous Heart" but it is one hr. long so you might want to watch it in your own time if it is too long to upload here -- it is at th-cam.com/video/_EWjYFgYpOQ/w-d-xo.html with a great amount of good information.
Btw, Elvis paid $1,000. to purchase his own ticket for his Hawaii concert. He did not make any money from that concert. ($75,000 in '73 is approx. $519,715. today) Thanks.
Question: is there a way to turn the sound up a bit more when you speak. The volume for the videos is very good but your voice is quite love on full volume. Thanks.
