I was such a nerd, with all As in school, and constantly called "cute" or "too quiet." I would lay on the floor for hours with this album repeating in my headphones. Played Barbies to it. 😅

Dude in Highschool, everyone knew this album, the cheerleaders to the stoner kids and the jocks, even metal dudes liked it. We would go to parties and his albums would be on all the time. We weren't concerned with what it meant, really. It was just good music for a young adult.

I listened to all of the first 3 big albums back to back as soon as they came out cause odd as it sounds I'm almost positive I was one of the first kids of my Gen to hear eminem when he was very first signed by Dre and my name is came out and they played it one night on 94.3 the x the rock station where I'm from before the album wa even out lol I remember it as if it was yesterday it's the night my brother gave me my first beer of course he was 15 and I was like 7 and so hyper from hearing that song my brother had to get me to drink a beer to knock my lil hyper adhd ass out for the night 😂🤣😂

Em grew up thru golden age of hip hop, like many of us old heads (46), this was a concept album. 90's were full of them.
I know you are somewhat newer to him, your pops knows though, cause I laugh when you say this might be his best album.
It's the highest selling hip hop album of all time, & what solidified Em to many of us who were suspect after just the 1st album.
We wanted to hear what he'd do next & at least match it. Then he just took that co-sign from Dre & launching pad, to drop this then TES, with 8mile movie & soundtrack in between, which gave him not just a fan base but respect among his peers & the culture.
Lotta haters, many younger who weren't even around or know ish bout 80's & 90's hip hop who just wanna trash Em & make it all bout race, but if you actually understand the craft or hip hop, whether he's your fave or not, you gotta at least give his pen & mic game it's flowers

This Eminem bridged gaps. Every white and black kid in high school sat together at the lunch table vibin' man. Literally everyone listened to this together. Someone was humming or singing and you met in the halls and blasted this. You passed your headphones to some dude you barely knew. EVERYONE knew the lyrics. Rich kids? Poor kids? It didn't matter. Everyone related because of this.

I spent A LOT of time listening to this GEM of an album. MANY people still consider this his best album. I have to say though, even though the younger Em had his angst and popularity I think I still prefer the new *beard is weird* Em. His new style and topics just seem more relatable but that is probably just because I grew up with him lol.

FUN FACT: 'The Way I Am' was written in response to the label execs not thinking the album was good enough. It still needed big singles which is why Eminem said "I'm not going to be able to top What My Name Is"... The execs thought The Way I Am still wasn't good enough to complete the album, so that's when he made 'The Real Slim Shady'. These last 2 songs ended up being his first 2 singles. They exist thanks to the added pressure from the label execs.

heyoo, here again to ask for a reaction on "Wardruna and Aurora - Helvegen (live)" a song about death, dying and remembering those who have passed. About crossing over and about letting go. It is a song about searching for lost songs and old traditions. this would also be the perfect stepping stone into Aurora songs wich are literally Mindblowing like "Murder song[54321] live at nobel peace prize concert", "Runaway" or "the seed" (one of the few where i like the non live better).
