Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.

MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO.
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAC.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro is
makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

Poor Gentaro, he has played second fiddle since Kintaro’s birth. He only wants some love and attention from Genki but she could care less. Gentaro has been sad and trying to get attention from Genki and Momotaro for a long time. But of course some of you will not agree with me but that’s okay. Let Genki live by herself again then maybe she will be happy. Momotaro respects her as the only wife he has but I bet if he were given a choice Genki would be on her own and he would be happy with a new wife. Maybe Ai since she doesn’t appear to be interested in Shabani.

Man. There are so many bachelors in the states😢Hopefully more girls will be born. It’s been awhile since Genki had her issues with the other troop. She has had children since then and is older. Maybe they can try finding a female with a temperament similar to Toto or Ai somewhere for Momo.🤷🏽♀️

You know,I’m not sure why Chiba zoo owns Gentaro but they do. So I don’t think Kyoto zoo can make that decision. Unfortunately there is only one young female gorilla not related to Gentaro in Japan. That is Annie from the Shabani troop. She is still young although I have seen her being sexually active. The other females are older with other mates or dont do well with other gorillas. I’ve read that Japanese zoo’s are looked down upon by other zoo’s for the care of their gorillas. So maybe zoo’s outside of Japan who are apart of the Gorilla Conservation program don’t want to send their gorillas to Japan for that reason? There are others who are more knowledgeable then I am so perhaps they will comment also.🙂

@@MySkinnydip wow they look down Japanese zoo because of how they care about the gorillas? I don't think they are being poorly cared. They all look healthy otherwise they could hv looked skinny and sick but no. They all look good. The only problem here in Kyoto zoo for the gorillas is they hv small place or enclosure. This has always been the concern and for sure it reaches the management. Now, the question is why they still hvnt done anything about this concern? We don't know, maybe they dont hv enough budget for expansion or the zoo area is small for expansion.
