Father Momotaro ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
Mother Genki ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
First son Gentaro, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son Kintaro ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro is
makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

Gentaro was the reason that I started watching this Beautiful Family! He will be the Most Loving Husband and Father to his children with ANNIE!!! They are Soulmates!! ❤❤

One day our sweet Gentaro will be a great Silverback, loving and patient like his mother, and strong like his father. he will have his own family who will love and respect him very much. I just hope He has a big, green, beautiful place to live.😍😍😍
Maybe it's because he was partly raised by humans but Gentaro has always been more independent and braver than his little brother. Before Kintaro was born Gentaro's "playmate" was dear old Dad, Momotaro 🤣🤣
Genki was forever having to split them up so they would calm down. Gentaro has had the love, support & care of an excellent team of vets & keeper's & this along with the nurturing & patient Genki, the strong but "soft hearted" Momotaro & his own curious, affectionate and hilarious character have allowed Gentaro to grow into his future role of a Silverback with confidence and intelligence, he's going to be AWESOME A 😘😘😘

Stealing his mothers food is learned from his mother. Gentaro seems to be acting more settled and mature making sure not to rile his father up who is still much larger than him. Momotaro could hurt Gentaro with little effort

he will stay in Japan, he belongs to another zoo technically. i cannot remember the name right now, I think it is where momo came from
@@kimgraham9671 Momotaro belongs to the Chiba City Zoo. Therefore, his first born Gentaro belongs to Chiba. Genki belongs to Kyoto City Zoo and so does Kintaro.

There is no video of Bijou to my knowledge but on both Genki and Momotaros Birthday videos there are pictures of him. Momotaro looks just like him.

I read somewhere that another zoo in Japan actually owns him so I'm assuming they are moving him there.
Chiba Zoo where owns him and has a plan to build a huge Gorilla facility for his troop.
He will be at another zoo, Momo and him will battle, I hope they transfer him soon

According to one of the videographers, Gentaro first damaged the wooden box by pulling on it, then came Momotaro who further broke it by stepping on it all day. It's been a week, will be box be replaced I wonder 🤔
They said it was corroded and molded due to the rain. They are said to be planning on fixing it as it covers a heating pad for the family!

Why was the box taken away
The box was old and wobbly. They were scared that if Momotaro sat on it, it would collapse and hurt him. Not even sure if they are going to replace it or not. I hope they do, that's where the family naps and hang-out.

He is Genki son. She had no milk. They had to bottle feed him. 4 days after birth they took him. Almost died. 10 months later he went back to his mother, and they continued to bottle feed at the cage. Genki took him back to the group. Kintaro has always drank bottle at the cage too. Genki would take him to drink bottle, but wouldn't let them take him. Her milk 🥛 was no nutritional for him either. I think she would have trouble again with a new baby 🤱. She is a good mama gorilla 🦍!!!!

Genki never tries to steal gentaros food. One day she will fave Kentaro facing her down when she tries to steal his and she won't be getting my sympathy. In fact if they chased her around a bit she might lose some weight and Momotaro may find her more than a desperate booty call. They need to up her game a bit and shake things up a bit

Maybe learn a bit more about Genki and her background before making anymore harsh judgements.

@@ritaamunrud4201 What do you mean by ‘’beyond the obvious’’? How do you understand what her situation was and what self-mutilating is about? And there’s lots more to her history than just that.
While Genki was at Ueno Zoo in 1997 - 1999 she was the first impregnated by Biju. Unfortunately, she lost that baby. Shortly thereafter she lost her standing in the troop. When another female arrived and became the alpha-female, this is when Genki started self-mutilating and lost her 3 fingers. In 1999 she returned to Kyoto City and lived with her mother until Hiromi's death in 2008. Her mother died from severe wounds caused by a silverback's attack. Genki has been through many traumatic incidents not the least of which is her dental health, which was caused by poor diet. Early in life, large amounts of fruit and vegetables high in sugar helped to decay her teeth and now she has only 1 or 2 back teeth. That would seem to say a lot of food is swallowed without chewing helping to cause bloat and contributing to digestive issues.
Genki may not be everyone's idea of a suitable mate for Momotaro, but she does not deserve to be disvalued or locked away by herself - that is my view. Since Japan only has 20 gorillas, there doesn't seem to be much option.
