Coming back and watching this video for the nostalgia... Man, you've come so far, worked so hard, made so many great videos for us. Thank you for all the hard work you put in, you've saved me thousands in repairs, and headaches dealing with dishonest shops.
Damny Laffita it’s worse if u drive diesel in Commiefornia. Over here the cheapest diesel I’ve seen recently is 4.19 per gallon. I’ve mostly seen 4.49. That’s almost 5 bucks a gallon. I have two diesel cars, so it’s terrible for me :/
If you want to save some money on running a drift car, get the oldest tires you can find for the rear. Old tires are hard, and that means they have less grip making it easier to brake loose the rear. Also, they're cheap.
This is my first time ever watching a Chris Fix video and I just wanted to say thank you. I'm 21 years old but don't have my own car. I've always been interested in cars and drifting but always felt like drifting was something impossible to get into. But you made the video easy to understand and you were very optimistic and hopeful about your first learning experience. I liked this video so I'm subscribing to your channel! - Andrew

Awesome 1st time drift experience. I think you did a fantastic job of letting people know what to think and what you went through. Drift HARD - Drift LONG!!!
sadtundra is dead It's more of the fact that he literally said, "the name is up to you guys!" then went with the name he suggested anyway, despite what everybody else voted on. I get it, you sort of call it that in the mean time and then it just stick in your brain. But it's worth mentioning.
Tubular K member, control arms, coilover converstion and caster camber plates. I would recommend Team Z. Good quality pieces. Should probably have at minimum 3.55 gears. Would give plenty of speed in 2nd gear and any higher ratio may require to be in 3rd gear and I doubt a stock non pi 4.6 would have power to be in third. I believe a pi cylinder head swap is in order for a bit more power. It's also very cheap for the added power. Would require 91 octane because of the compression increase. The Steeda Tri-Ax is a very good shifter. Precise and short. A set of long tube headers would really help with the low rpm grunt torque to initiate the drift. Also sound killer :P. Just some beginning suggestions. I know.. It gets expensive quick... lol Best of luck and have fun!
Yeah the PI swap would be a good move, parts are easy to get and he can do the work himself. That and exhaust would be at the top of my list, and of course gears. The PI swap plus exhaust, he's looking at 50-60hp easily.
he doesn't even know what he's doing yet. It's not time for mods now. He should only put good front tires and practice a lot. Modifying your drift car when you can't even drift will make you a bad drier on the long run.
Everything I listed excluding the coil overs and K member, are basic modifications that anyone should do to there 96-98 Mustang. They will simply improve the performance of the car for any driver. The only reason I listed the tube K is because thats what you need to install coilovers correctly. Which is what he was suggested by the professional drifter big wigs.. After all. He suggested doing modifications. But I do agree that anybody would improve with plenty of practice. A nice set of front tires and an alignment would go a long ways for sure..
Olivier Gravel Well, he himself disagrees, he's already planning numerous mods which he talks about at the end of the video. It's almost a forgone conclusion, he'll probably do the PI swap, the extra power will help so much, and it's just so easy. Also with the mileage he's at, it's actually a great preventative move as well, freshen up the top end, new head gasket, it'll be good to go for another 100k miles.
HypnoticSuggestion The Kansas Dude All I'm saying is that a car doesn't need to be modified to drift well. Where I go, I'm better with my stock e46 328ci (3.46 welded diff) than most of the people who have 300hp s13's with hydro e-brakes and angle kits. Drifting is already a moneypit and he should take his time. He doesn't need the power, he doesn,t need the stiffness, he doesn't need the shortshifter... all he needs is practice. The only things that he mentionned that are important are front grip improvements and bucket seats. Everybody's mod list here is accurate but it's far from a necessity. He sounds like he's saying: -"that mustang needs this and that to drift" but you clearly see in the footage that he has not control of his car and no clue what he's doing. Mods are required only when the driver's skills are exceeding what the car car do which is far from the case right now. I hope he will keep his money for more tires and track time and invest in parts when he's trully ready...It's just common sense I think. It's just my opinion though, its not my wallet

ChrisFix you have to get coilovers. It's great for the suspension and I know you go off track a lot but the ride ride difference with the coils it will bring it down to at least 2-3 inches. So you are good. Have fun building a drift car. You have a lot of confidence in your self. I love it

Thanks man! When I drove home that day, it was truly inspirational for myself. I never thought I would go out and do something like this. Sure, I can fix cars, and build stuff all day, but to get a car that doesnt run, get it ready to drift, and go out and hit the track... I was amazed with myself!
Tony Firenze Here in the Netherlands it’ll be the equivalent to about $7,20 / gallon. 1 gallon = 3,8 liter 1 liter = €1,70 (EUR98) 3,8 x 1,7 = about €6,50 €6,50 = $7,20
Clayton Rice what's the difference, if you have a seatbelt on your still not going anywhere and getting crushed anyway but you would have to slam most coupes pretty hard on their roof to buckle the pillars enough to crush you but I get what your saying
This0is0pointless 3 point belt is far safer than a harness unless you have a well engineered roll bar/ cage, no air bag, and proper fixed-back seats. Otherwise you are risking serious spine injuries. 4 point harnesses are also terrible, ever hear of submarining?
yes but submarining can happen with any form of lap belt, the only thing I was getting at is that the main use of a harness is to keep you planted in the seat and that injuries are possible with any style of belt, its kind of a given if you crash hard enough, to many G's is just that.I never actually did say anything about a 4 point, he could go with a 5 but I do agree a good roll bar, fixed back seat and air bag removal is all a good idea but he may be limited with some things sense he's keeping it registered
I know this vid is a year old but I'm about to start my manual/drifting journey and this series is the best inspiration for it, thanks for showing every single step along the way!
Jow amazing video! I have a tip for you. If you are using Sony Vegas, what I assume from looking at the video, you have to disable the resample. If you don't you can see a lot of poor frameblending. This happens when framerates in the video don't match up. If you search for disable resample you know what I mean.
Bro your video is 6 years old and I'm watching right now 27.07.2023 and today i search for the first time how to drifting and i still don't have driving licence but I'm trying to get driving licence but here in Germany is very difficult to get driving licence but when i search now i got on the top drifting school video and the next video i got your and i really enjoy thanks for that also got experience about drifting and specially 😀 you need familiar car for drifting and drifting proper place for the first so otherwise do not drift anywhere and with any car😁 this is what i got, thanks for that
Coming back to this video after 5+ years I forgot how much anticipation I had waiting to watch this episode... I mean the police project was awesome but it wasn’t his... this was sooooo coooooolll.
This is really cool how he's literally making videos of him learning because it really makes each and every video more in-depth and kinda lets the viewer understand what he's going through and that's a cool aspect of all your videos so keep it up!!
Listen to what you're being told. The first thing he told you, "drive spirited to get to know the track". You didn't do that, you just went right away to try and drift. You need to understand your track from a racing perspective first. Your front tires are in the same position (and on the same racing line) as if you were racing the track. The only difference between racing and drifting is your back swinging out. The front tires need to trace the racing line. You want to progressively increase speed until you can naturally break loose. Don't get hung up trying to do clutch kick, ebrake pulling, and feints. Starting out you just want to get faster so the rear end breaks loose because you're feeding it more power. You can get fancy after you practice the basics first.
Because of what you said at the end of this video I became a part time wood carver and part time rally car driver I’m not great My cars not great But I have fun
TIGER x GAMING its a litre not a gallon also you said its 1.06 $ a litre that like 0.80€/l here it is double that make that $ and its like 2.30/l , sometimes we pay 2+ eu a litre
@ChrisFix you did really good for your first time with a stock mustang man. I remember my first time with my 350z i went off the track so much. Just practice and you will get better.
nice vid chris , but drifting in 1st gear was not the way to go , 2nd for low speed and 3rd for high speed , since you have a v8 you won't have a problem drifting in high gears , all i got is a 4 banger and it was great
For novice drifters: - get a cheap car - buy lots of extra bumpers and figure our ahead of time how they get replaced - get at least 4 old as hell tires for your rear end - forget cleaning as you will mess up the car over and over Old tires get stiff and have little grip, that way you are drifting easily and when you eventually burn them out there is no big loss. Buying brand new sticky tires is just expensive and painful in the end, unless of course you are one of the high end drifters with sponsorship up the wazoo.
ChrisFix I think in most countries of europe you are obliged to learn how to drive with stick, but i'm not certain of this 100% i know in spain is like that, thx for answering!

Damn that really gives me some inspiration to spend a day just getting the feel of it.
Finally, A Video From Chris Fix. Who's Exited.
Me
Urdu Naat me
Diy Mix not me why would I exit this video
I'm excited!!! Does that count?
i didnt exit
Its really cool to be able to see the complete story, from prep the car to drift
This is amazing
Thanks!
Man I love your videos!
I think I've seen almost all of them... I'm 19 and got my first car so your channel has helped a lot! I also really enjoy your full-time friendly actitud!👌🏼
Good vibes from Costa Rica!
Thanks Daniel and congrats on the new car! Glad the videos are helpful!

"Hey guys, *CrispShift* here!"
PetWaint You’re a jerk😡
@@katierobbins1699 how is he a jerk? Just because he made a somewhat of a good joke?
I always oversteer the RC car
@@katierobbins1699 screw you katie robbins!
Dude i almost cried when he said to hop in lets go for a ride...you probably felt so gooood
That Hoonigan is dope.
this must be the best go-out-and-do-it video ever
Thanks man! When I drove home that day, it was truly inspirational for myself. I never thought I would go out and do something like this. Sure, I can fix cars, and build stuff all day, but to get a car that doesnt run, get it ready to drift, and go out and hit the track... I was amazed with myself!
+ChrisFix I love your videos and wish they would come faster, can't wait for u to start the mods, keep it up!
by the way I recommend a flow master exhaust, it made my friends Jeep sound a like a monster, and makes my s10 roar
6:13 .. "Stock Boy" 😂
Watching these videos have put a smile on my face.it's nice after a stressful week
$1.80 a gallon 🙄
Try £1.20 a litre in the UK
Here in France it is 1.70 €
1.40€ in Serbia, where average salary is 300€ sooo...
Tony Firenze Here in the Netherlands it’ll be the equivalent to about $7,20 / gallon.
1 gallon = 3,8 liter
1 liter = €1,70 (EUR98)
3,8 x 1,7 = about €6,50
€6,50 = $7,20
that cute finland it's like 1.60 a litre 😂
0.1$ for a litre in the middle east lol
1st drift and no damage. Good job man.
It was so awesome to see you learning drifting!!! Maybe for the next video tell us how to do burnouts and donuts
A video would be more fun.
That is a good idea!
Good times!
I had two of these myself. A ‘97 Coupe and a ‘96 Cobra. Best hobby in the world!
It's a lot of fun!

Man of culture
don't need a roll cage for a harness just need a cross bar behind the seats and the harness will help tremendously with keeping you in the seat
*harness bar but you are correct. All you need chris
I wouldn't recommend harnesses with no cage. In the case of a rollover, your body can be crushed by the roof caving in
Clayton Rice what's the difference, if you have a seatbelt on your still not going anywhere and getting crushed anyway but you would have to slam most coupes pretty hard on their roof to buckle the pillars enough to crush you but I get what your saying
Chris you should put a one of those steering wheels that detach magnetically also do so crazy weight reduction
Said this before watching the end
LOL! Exactly what DT would do! ;¬)
Tenkay quick release isn't magnetically.
I know this vid is a year old but I'm about to start my manual/drifting journey and this series is the best inspiration for it, thanks for showing every single step along the way!
That is awesome! I need to do a "year in review" video!
Jow amazing video! I have a tip for you. If you are using Sony Vegas, what I assume from looking at the video, you have to disable the resample. If you don't you can see a lot of poor frameblending. This happens when framerates in the video don't match up. If you search for disable resample you know what I mean.
“1.80 not bad” (watching in 2022) good old days
fuel is on average $4-5 US per gallon here in sydney australia. nice and expensive when your daily has 680rwhp
Tru....far out the Australia tax is annoying
In my country its 0.90 euro per LITER
Yea it sucks. I have only 150hp but i pay $58 US for a full tank. God bless the Czech Republic.
Even worse when you still have a standard V8 and the fuel is wasted on the dull performance haha.
here in lower Michigan it costs about 2.30
9:15 to 9:20 that was beauty right there
How about 7:53 to 8:00 ;)
ChrisFix that was cool too but the sound and smoke ahhhhh
$1.80?? wow that is cheap. it's $2.78 in my area =/
Dang that's a lot!
hi I have built your mustang plon a game
No way!!!
Ouch!
same here in California lol
Really cool video, thanks for the positivity, I needed some of that today. You made one more subscriber, keep it up dude.
Awesome thanks and welcome aboard!
during the quarantine im rewatching this series for the 5th time now and im loving it as if it was the first time
Good job I hope to get to a drift track sometime I wasn’t aware this was 3 years old
Thanks! And you absolutely should!
like always great video! I like this drift content it's awesome keep them coming
Thanks a lot Juan!
fuck me fella we pay 5 times as much as you do for fuel
well, you still have to pay for it.
that would be emigrate
Lol
Skull Plays ayyy on what?
I pay 2.30$ for 93 octane c;
Bro your video is 6 years old and I'm watching right now 27.07.2023 and today i search for the first time how to drifting and i still don't have driving licence but I'm trying to get driving licence but here in Germany is very difficult to get driving licence but when i search now i got on the top drifting school video and the next video i got your and i really enjoy thanks for that also got experience about drifting and specially 😀 you need familiar car for drifting and drifting proper place for the first so otherwise do not drift anywhere and with any car😁 this is what i got, thanks for that
Totally didnt expect Forsberg
Idk why but watching this video made me feel like I was opening presents on Christmas lol
1.80 a gallon wtf its 3 dollars here in cali
Xhale bout 2 ish here in Colorado
here its 6.2 (in europe)...
Xhale 97.8/litre in Windsor Canada
Xhale 7.3 in Mexico
Thats New jersey gas prices for ya
Coming back to this video after 5+ years I forgot how much anticipation I had waiting to watch this episode... I mean the police project was awesome but it wasn’t his... this was sooooo coooooolll.
$1.80 a gallon?! I need that! I'm over here paying $2.20!
in spain we pay 1,10 euro per litre, 3,75 litres is one gallon...
Wow, crazy difference, didn't know it was that much.
The diesel 1,30 per litre ...
Yeah that's not surprising, it's more here as well. Do you have a diesel vehicle?
I have both but are small engines.
i'm so doing this in my automatic 2000 corolla.
aren't corollas front wheel drive
ppl can drift fwd. can't really power slide tho ahaha. I love modifying the slow cars in forza to make em drift like a dream
yeah but its hard to maintain a drift unless you have plastic rear tires
Whats your favorite car in forza to drift? I can't find a good build. Forza Horizon 3 correct?
I personally love the E36 but that is just me
1:21 no need to blur out lol we all recognize it
Costco
i dont.
he didn't blur it out when he drove by it. lol
Because they're not paying him why should he advertise for them I think is the reason.
by
This is really cool how he's literally making videos of him learning because it really makes each and every video more in-depth and kinda lets the viewer understand what he's going through and that's a cool aspect of all your videos so keep it up!!
Because of what you said at the end of this video I became a part time wood carver and part time rally car driver
I’m not great
My cars not great
But I have fun
It's not about being a pro it's about how much fun you had.
$1.80 A GALLON WTHHHH!!!????? IT'S LIKE A $1.06 PER LITRE IN ONTARIO OR MORE OMG!!!!!
TIGER x GAMING we pay 1.654/l and that is in EURO's dont cry moron.
Pielemans Bro a Euro is worth a heck of a lot more than our Canadian dollar so it probably even out. Who's the moron now XD
Evens *
Pielemans If you converted your euros to canadian, you would be able to afford quite a bit more gas.
LSD, weight reduction, pull interior, racing seat, racing steering wheel, roll cage
he did say he had a limited slip diff in the video.
that mustang already has an lsd. he did a burnout in the beginning
not everybody needs to make their car 100 perfect and dedicated, mr expert
Kart Drifter
Sypadizre but some things do need to be done
Costco!
Costco!
gutted interior, straight pipe, weld the diff.
no, no, no
it gives more flow through your exhaust
Not street legal. You will have to trailer it.
Tray Muse thats what hed do any ways
Did you watch the video?
Drifting is the ultimate balance between power and chaos
And grip and no grip haha
4:23 that miata in the background tho :'D
CrunchiBox 😍😍😍
then at 7:05 with the ae86
nice vid chris , but drifting in 1st gear was not the way to go , 2nd for low speed and 3rd for high speed , since you have a v8 you won't have a problem drifting in high gears , all i got is a 4 banger and it was great
in 1st gear you won't spin on a high speed
For novice drifters:
- get a cheap car
- buy lots of extra bumpers and figure our ahead of time how they get replaced
- get at least 4 old as hell tires for your rear end
- forget cleaning as you will mess up the car over and over
Old tires get stiff and have little grip, that way you are drifting easily and when you eventually burn them out there is no big loss. Buying brand new sticky tires is just expensive and painful in the end, unless of course you are one of the high end drifters with sponsorship up the wazoo.
haha. You should get good fronts though right ???....lol
Thanks for the tips!!
still love watching your DriftStang journey, so much character development
Damn that was a perfect tandem in the end
hearing 1.80 a gallon hit like a truck
2 months driving with stick
Yep!
ChrisFix sounds weird to me for someone who has a channel with so many car videos lol but i suposse in america is normal
I just read something that only 18% of new drivers know how to drive stick.
I just read something that only 18% of new drivers know how to drive stick.
ChrisFix I think in most countries of europe you are obliged to learn how to drive with stick, but i'm not certain of this 100% i know in spain is like that, thx for answering!
Oh boy Chris you make me smile 😃. Learning how to drift. Once I’m 16 I’m going to learn how to drift
