I have sang this to my son since that first night in the hospital when he came into my life. He's 23 now and I still sing this to him, quote it, and send him the video when he's having a rough time. He's an amazing man with a heart of gold, and he makes me proud every day.
Man! @heather Maines reading your comment made me cry..I grow up not having a father and life had been not so good to me but still very thankful i have a wonderful mother who raised me well..Im so proud of you and your son sir..God bless to your family.

Dedicated to one of my best friends that died tonight from covid. Rest in Paradise Swetty. Love you man. Dec 8 2020 worst year of my 64 years of living.
Rus Im so sorry to hear of your loss. People say this all the time but I mean it because I lost 2 friends to Covid & another to ALS this year. I just turned 65 & have worked as an RN till my retirement a few yrs ago. I thought I'd seen it all but Covid is something I never thought would happen. Godspeed to all those gone.
Totally feel your pain. I lost my Dad jan 26 2021 to Covid. He was in an old folks home. He had dementia. Worst year in my 56 on this planet. Everyday since has been a struggle. Peace be with you Rus.
so true. I am a huge fan of ACDC, but no one ever will reach Ronnie singing THIS song. Free bird is better - as a performance, but that is because of the guitars, but the best song with the best message ever - Simple man. All men should live their life following this message. It is so good, i start to cry to listen to it. And i normally NEVER do that. They were so good. that they could get such a replacement (in the family) is still amazing. Ronnie does it a bit better, but nobody on this planet could reach him with his own written song.
Dedicated to the son of my heart, Moses, who passed away suddenly today, 5/6/2022, at the age of 42. I was a support for him from the time he was 11 years of age, and I would play this song for him all the time. He actually did it. He became a simple kind of man. I love you always, my son…
Man, this song has such sentimental value to me as my mom in 1979 gave me this song as a gift on the day i left for college as she was a fan of lynard skynard like big time fan! Moms gone now and im in my late 60s but i did what she asked and today im 4th generation on this farm thsts been in my family 97 years😊👍. My son's are about to take the reins and i will surely make sure they do what their grandma once asked me🙏. Great way to start my morning but i have a farm to run lol God bless this iconic band past and present🙏
Thank you Dannyvann 🙏. I love this farm as it's kinda in my blood and it will live on with my boys running it as they were raised to keep our legacy alive. Next year will be my last but I'm not going anywhere as I plan on living out my days right here on our property spending my days listening to real music😊👍 God Bless you my friend🙏
Mama's advice still resonates today - and I'm pushing 60. Heard this in my youth, and realized my Mom would have have said, if she's had those words. She's been gone 40 years; Mom #2 doesn't say it - but she lives it. As I try to everyday...
This is the song my Mom and were going to dance to at my wedding. She passed away less than 6 months before my wedding. I took her for granted like a lot of young men do. This song always makes me tear up. But this version pulls on my heart strings especially. I was her only son as well
It’s been 2 years, Cameron. I hope somehow you find my reply. We don’t know each other. I know your pain and I know it’s complicated. This weekend, I get to dance with my son to this song at his wedding. I know I am blessed beyond measure. I will carry your mama in my heart. Also, please hear this, as a mama I know this is true. Your mama doesn’t want you to feel hurt anymore. She’s also has long forgiven you of anything you still carry in your heart as things you’ve taken her for granted for. Trust me on that. No need to even think about it. Like this song says, be a simple man and be satisfied. Find that quiet voice in your heart, spend a moment there and just give yourself peace. You are worth it.
My girlfriend introduced this song to me a few years ago. Listened to it religiously. We are now expecting our first baby in November. The lyrics from this song really resonate with me...
Don’t care for anything new, Simple Man and All I Can Do is Write About it from them are my favorite songs of all, I guess it’s the people I work with and in my family are older and I don’t listen to anything newer then the 90s and only really rock, jazz, and country. I’m 17 and I love it.
There was shitty music in the 70’s too, buddy. For every Lynyrd Skynyrd, there were hundreds of bands at the same time that were lame. And there’s plenty of artists nowadays that are great but don’t get attention because they aren’t mainstream.
Saw Skynard about a year before the crash, Veterans Memorial, Columbus Ohio. I took it for granted at the time, now it is a very special memory, of a special night, in the special 70's. The opening act was The Outlaws.
@Kem Hayes, Saw them at an outdoor event in Nashville, Tn. April, 1977, and still have some awesome pics of Ronnie, Steve, and the rest of the band taken by my older brother. Know what you mean about taking it for granted that the original Skynyrd would be around a lot longer they ended up being.
Absolutely, one of my all time favorite songs and always will be. Just wish I was lucky enough to have a son to relate it to. Played Freebird at mums funeral. She loved that song. She was a true blue hippy from 60s. I, arranged a ride on a Harley and party with all the family for her 60th. RIP mum. Love you always and forever.
My Dad died in a car accident August 2017 at 56. At his funeral we played a video of him playing his guitar and singing this song and played Freebird as the last song. I just bought tickets to see Lynyrd Skynyrd in west palm beach in May. Forever grateful for this music.
JESSICA sorry about your dad. Nothing cool like that at my dad's funeral when he died in 1990 at the age of 55 in a construction accident/heart attack. My dad in a way though was a simple man. Just a construction worker who liked to hunt and fish. Unfortunately 1990 was prior to video montages. I can't seem to think of what kind of music he liked.
my son passed away 12-18-16 at the age of 28 I use to sing him this song as he grew up he got grown and could play this on his guitar and he sang it too RIP Joe
I'm 55, frenchman. Guitarist, fan of good southern rock and more of this, I have deep respect for the south culture, but this s not my subject here. None of us will never love our mother as she deserve. When God realized he couldn't be eveywhere and fix all of the pains, he created the Mother. God bless all the mothers around the world.
I love this message in the song. At a time when everyone seems to strive to be someone they're not and impress strangers this resonates. You won't be remembered for the things you've accrued in life but how you've treat people.
My Mother raised me as a single parent. She was put on earth to cook my meals and clean my bedroom. Thats what I thought when I was a teenager. She died while I was in basic training. I am now 50 yrs. old and every kid I encounter I preach to them about NOT to make the same mistake I did. A young man is there to take care of his Mother, not vice-versa. I hope in some small way I can make amends to my STUPID ASS BEHAVIOUR .....^5 to all the precious mommys out there, I LOVE EACH AND EVERY 1 OF YOU
+1HUFFMAN ; If your Mother was still alive, I think She would be very proud to have raised You. I say this because You have honored your Mother, and have grown up to be an Honorable man. Peace and blessings.
When I was a child, I always used to think that if my Mom was around, this is what she'd tell me. Still to this day, I can't get through the whole song without shedding a tear. What a beautiful piece of art! Much love!!
+Lauren Barraby ...One of the coolest things I have ever heard! This is one my wife picked out for our middle son Nick... If we listen and not just hear, it can be just like this!
My mom died when I was 25, I'm almost 55 now, and I imagine this is her words to me from the grave. She never said these words to me, but it makes me closer to her. That and Let It Be. She died from cancer like Paul McCartnley's mom. God Bless Lynyrd Skynryd for this song, and so many others they gave us ! They are jamming in Heaven, and I know my mom is tapping her foot to their music.
+Vai Fan I am a mother and trust me any REAL mom wishes this for her son, fortunately I used to sing this to mine and he is grown it still brings a tear to my eye I always dreamed of dancing at his wedding to itI am sure your mother is pouring her wishes and blessings on you from haven, your responsible to live up to it peace and love -Laura
God i love come to the coment session and read the stories about great songs like this changing peoples lives. That's the power of the real music. Long live rock n roll.
This was my uncle's favorite song. The night after he passed away I went to the kitchen for some food and heard my dad listening to it and singing very quietly and he never sings or anything. Still the saddest thing I've ever seen.
Whitefeather god bless you my friend your dad must be like me I'm going to be 50 and my mom and dad have been gone for a while enjoy your life while you can god bless you brother
My sons mom passed in 2020 while serving in the military this is one song we both loved to hear she would sing this to him when he cryed and he would stop and just listen. Even put are son to ease! Great great song!
i echo your comment to the "T"! i will always remember when i first heard of the 1987 reunion tour & even at only 16 having a feeling inside of things being put right. LS will forever, for me, personify the American rags to riches, good ol boys achieving epic stardom & fame, with a bittersweet twist that Hollywood could never hope to duplicate.
Lynyrd Skynyrd never did a bad song...they all meant something. They STILL mean something. I am a child of the 70's (am almost 60 now) and everything still resonates. No music out there these days that means the same.
They used to play on Friday mornings at my high school, Duncan U. Fletcher for breakfast club. 50 cents for coffee and doughnuts. It was all of us long haired surfers and hippies sitting on the floor digging the music, and the clickers and jocks dancings. Started at 7 and went to 8am. they never played anything but the songs off the "Pronounced" album
Think about this. The man that wrote this song, never owned a cell phone. Never posted on Instagram. Never tweeted. Never friend-ed anyone. But 40 years later, were still talking about his music. He lived a simple life, and changed the world doing it. We should all be so lucky. When possible, live a simple life. Walk a straighter line, and set the example for the next generation.
+James Jarmon we tryour...best..in the wild west,,can but try, that you can not denies....when there are lies..spies ,,,and of course...flies....man with a plan,, ya think ,,,,put that in ink,,,,before you blink...lol
Beautiful song.. doesn't matter if I'm broken crying my ass off or if I'm loving life and happy.. this song always pulls me thru and gives me strength to carry on and keeps me striving for change and prosperity
I got married for the last time in 2011 and my son and I danced to this song, because my son requested the DJ to play this just for him and me. This is the only song my son and I ever danced to. He was about 40 years old at the time. This song has always had a special space in my heart since the 70s when my son was a toddler. He didn't realize what this song had always meant to me, but somehow he knew this was mother/son song. And he got it! I had tears in my eyes the whole time we danced to this song! Love my son even more. This song has an even more special meaning. Have goose bumps even now! "Let there be Lynyrd!"
Definitely, my son was in a car accident back in 2016 with traumatic brain injury and shattered back. Still in hospital. Always be humble a d grateful . Thank you. Annick .
Hang in there, Dan! The Information Age makes it easier than ever to reach out to others - with tools like Discord, MMOs and forums, maybe you can find some like-minded folks to share the day; because, when the day is over, that's what it's all about.
What is "disabled"? No one man is disabled, everyone can do what others can't. Stevie Wonder wrote plenty very good songs but couldn'see the paper he "wrote " it on. Many "abled" persons can even play a piano.
Lynyrd Skynyrd made a lot of amazing songs... This one just rises to the top. Won't a powerful song with amazing lyrics and most important, A GREAT MESSAGE.
For my momma, RIP my guardian angel. On this day of your birth I celebrate you with jamming out to our song looking up at the stars. Always try to live by these words. Love you momma❤
Well I raised 4 children and the bigest compliment I ever had was from my youngest son. At the ripe age of 29 he said I was a simple kind of man. And I was proud.
+D Smith I heard them for the first time in -76 and being in Norway as a teenager I was never able to see them. You are so lucky to have been able to. Must be great memories.
Listening still in 2021. Really resonates with the shit that’s been going on in my country Canada, and my friends to the South. Simple good people will persevere. God bless us all.
The original lead singer, Ronnie Van Zant, was killed in a plane crash back in 1977 along with guitarist Steve Gaines, backup singer Cassie Gaines and their road manager. The band has been fronted by his younger brother Johnny (in video) since they reformed in 1987. Most of the footage shows the past members of the band who have passed on. Unfortunately since this DVD was released in 2003, Ean Evans (the bassist) Hughie Thommasson (guy with white guitar) and Billy Powell the pianist have all died as well. It's the Skynyrd curse....
This band and this song has kept me moving forward no matter what crap life threw at me, it is the best song for me to keep grounded, thanking my mom and the lord above for being such a big part of living, giving and sharing. Thank you
This concert meant so much to me, back when my mum and dad broke up until now he’d used to tell me that this was our song, the impact it had at that time was insane. LYNYRD SKYNYRD!🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Mama told me when I was young "Come sit beside me, my only son And listen closely to what I say And if you do this it'll help you Some sunny day" Oh, yeah Oh, take your time, don't live too fast Troubles will come and they will pass You'll find a woman, yeah, and you'll find love And don't forget son there is someone up above And be a simple kind of man Oh, be something you love and understand Baby, be a simple kind of man Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can? Forget your lust for the rich man's gold All that you need is in your soul And you can do this, oh, baby, if you try All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied And be a simple kind of man Oh, be something you love and understand Baby, be a simple kind of man Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can? Oh, yes, I will Boy, don't you worry, you'll find yourself Follow your heart and nothing else And you can do this, oh, baby, if you try All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied And be a simple kind of man Oh, be something you love and understand Baby, be a simple kind of man Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can? Baby, be a simple, be a simple man Oh, be something you love and understand Baby, be a simple kind of man
I've been listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd since I was a kid in Puerto Rico. My friends and family think I'm weird cause I rarely listen to Spanish Music. I love bands like Pantera, Aerosmith, The Doors, Pearl Jam and the likes of such great bands... Long Live Lynyrd Skynyrd...💙🇵🇷
7:20 We're just gonna keep steam rolling ur ass tonight 7:29 30 yrs so many hits... 7:37 'Been there. Dont that. An we ain't never going back again'........... fucking A!
Like Heather, this song reminds me of my Son. He is descent, moral and a great friend. 4 years ago I introduced this song to him and told him that it's written for him. No complexity, just him.... He immediately liked it and now he plays it on his guitar. It is a simple pleasure for a father to see him translate it into his repertoire.
+USmade im just wondering this, by skynyrd are you talking about the lead singer and if you are sry to say ma'am but the lead singers name is Ronnie Vanzant, the name of the band is lynyrd Skynyrd because they made the name up as a joke to their old gym teacher, and as of right now the lead singer Lynyrd Skynyrd is currently Ronnies brother Johnny, and to ever one else in the band i cant remember their names for the live of me but thats fine, and yes i will agree with you they are the best of the best when it came to sourthen rock and the 70's,80's,90's, and the 2000's+
th-cam.com/video/kmr_cOQZYeY/w-d-xo.html i sacrificed my throat to cover simple man.. Please check u might like it.... And sorry for self promoting... Check please you won't regret.. Please subscribe.. It would mean alot.. I am one
Lynyrd Skynyrd is one of the best bands of all time!!! Gotta Love the Simple Man, don’t get no matter than this!! RIP to all the original band members, their music will always live on and Love that Johnny Van Zant keeps the band going with Rickey Medlocke and the rest of the band…Keep rockin’!!! 🎶 🎸💙
Mothers , sing that song to your sons . I didn't hear that words from my parents when I was kid , if I did , wouldn't see and experienced so much bad things in my life .
This remains a masterpiece. Thank you, for all of your great music!. Your music is a soundtrack of our lives, for many of us. With gratitude and love ❤
I will be dancing to this as well with my son on his wedding this Saturday!!! This song is by far My most favourite! and like Shellidawn, I always think of my 3 sons when I listen to it.
Some of the best and loving advise any parent can give a son or daughter to this day. ( saw them in San Bernardino in the mid seventies pre-tragedy). This song has given mea lot of guidance in my time. ✨
I used to ride in my old man’s truck while goin out fishin and he’d sing this song to me word for word, looking me in my eyes. Wish I could go back to these times. Just a simple man’s life.
I have sang this to my son since that first night in the hospital when he came into my life. He's 23 now and I still sing this to him, quote it, and send him the video when he's having a rough time. He's an amazing man with a heart of gold, and he makes me proud every day.
Good for you Heather. Same here.
I've done the same, mine's 27!
god bless.
Man! @heather Maines reading your comment made me cry..I grow up not having a father and life had been not so good to me but still very thankful i have a wonderful mother who raised me well..Im so proud of you and your son sir..God bless to your family.

This band doesn't need special effects, because the words are strong enough to hit hard!!!
And the solos are good enough to cripple your soul

Johnny has done a hell of a job filling Ronnie's HUGE shoes.
Thank you, Johnny!
Of course no one can replace Ronnie. But a brother steps in and does what he can. Family first

laktoweiz one of my all time favorites :)
No autotune, no attitude, no fancy clothes. Just jeans and t-shirts, plus the most talented musician on the planet.
You got a right
Greetings from Poland
Most talented is negotiable but you are right about the rest. And luckily there are still thousands of bands who do that.
This is not talent. It is just song write with soul.
I agree.I am a major fan!!
AND THE BEST SOUND ENGINEER EVER
The greatest song ever made! ❤The riff, the lyrics, the voice, the message, the solo, the chorus, the nostalgic feeling are perfect!
It's in my TOP three.
so true. I am a huge fan of ACDC, but no one ever will reach Ronnie singing THIS song. Free bird is better - as a performance, but that is because of the guitars, but the best song with the best message ever - Simple man.

I hope in some small way I can make amends to my STUPID ASS BEHAVIOUR .....^5 to all the precious mommys out there, I LOVE EACH AND EVERY 1 OF YOU
+1HUFFMAN I'm touched by your thought
+1HUFFMAN ; If your Mother was still alive, I think She would be very proud to have raised You. I say this because You have honored your Mother, and have grown up to be an Honorable man. Peace and blessings.

Such a beautiful words, i love my parents more than anything in this world and im thankfull for each day with them. God bless you :)
When I was a child, I always used to think that if my Mom was around, this is what she'd tell me. Still to this day, I can't get through the whole song without shedding a tear. What a beautiful piece of art! Much love!!
I'm sorry. God bless you.
@@happysunnyrain1531 Thank you for the sentiment, I fared well I think. I appreciate you and your valuable time, it means a lot!
Much love!!! ✌

Legend.his music will leave on
Lynyrd Skynyrd in 2015 is an excellent tribute band, but the real Lynyrd Skynyrd died on October 20, 1977
Thank you, Laura. You sound like a very nice person. Thank you. :)
God i love come to the coment session and read the stories about great songs like this changing peoples lives. That's the power of the real music. Long live rock n roll.
Yep NOTHING hits you like rock n roll!!!!
The 70’s was the best years of my life , being a teenager , getting baked and listen to the best music of any decade 🤘🏻still rocking at 62
This was my uncle's favorite song. The night after he passed away I went to the kitchen for some food and heard my dad listening to it and singing very quietly and he never sings or anything. Still the saddest thing I've ever seen.
Sorry for your loss. Me to in August.
Your comment touched me. I'm sorry for your and your dad's loss...
sorry la vida es eso
Whitefeather god bless you my friend your dad must be like me I'm going to be 50 and my mom and dad have been gone for a while enjoy your life while you can god bless you brother
It is a Great band .Salve Jens
All time best Southern Rock Song of the South!
As opposed to all the best Northern Rock Song are of the North? Haha, just fooling, keep it simple!
Aint that the truth
Honestly I like Green Grass and High Tides over this song but not Free Bird
Thanks for telling me about GG & HT it is a awesome song! I have heard it before but didn't know who sang it.
Barry Yaffe got that right
my hymn...cause it also goes for women...and, ... I am a simple woman ...with a heart of GOLD
Agree sister:)
No way this is a Mans song come on Ladies you can't have everything leave us men to be men and best wishes from Ireland
Agreed! If every simple man would have a simple woman in their life... Utopia would be, within reach...
You are my dear, a unicorn.
Hey if it speaks to you, it does whether you're a man or a woman.
My sons mom passed in 2020 while serving in the military this is one song we both loved to hear she would sing this to him when he cryed and he would stop and just listen. Even put are son to ease! Great great song!
little brother is making his brother proud by honouring his brother with continuing his music an all the other bands members
Yes! I have said the same. Carrying his brothers fame and torch for the love of music. His brother's music will live forever!
)ese rock tejano es de lo mejor traspasa fronteras tiempo y lenguaje
i echo your comment to the "T"! i will always remember when i first heard of the 1987 reunion tour & even at only 16 having a feeling inside of things being put right.
This was mine and my wife favorite song too dance to who left this world 10yrs ago and I still cry everytime I hear this song. God I miss her.
May you dance again one day with the Lord in Heaven.
understand my wife died 31 years ago we loved the music
Feel for ya Brother, I cant even imagine losing the love of my life....Be strong
@@kevinwiseman5313 Thanks.
This is my one of my favorite bands.
I've always liked them
From the 70's to now.
They used to play on Friday mornings at my high school, Duncan U. Fletcher for breakfast club. 50 cents for coffee and doughnuts. It was all of us long haired surfers and hippies sitting on the floor digging the music, and the clickers and jocks dancings. Started at 7 and went to 8am. they never played anything but the songs off the "Pronounced" album
jaxbus3000 We're they tight back then?
TheIndianscout
Think about this. The man that wrote this song, never owned a cell phone. Never posted on Instagram. Never tweeted. Never friend-ed anyone. But 40 years later, were still talking about his music. He lived a simple life, and changed the world doing it. We should all be so lucky.
When possible, live a simple life. Walk a straighter line, and set the example for the next generation.
James Jarmon
Wow...
RbM
+James Jarmon we tryour...best..in the wild west,,can but try, that you can not denies....when there are lies..spies ,,,and of course...flies....man with a plan,, ya think ,,,,put that in ink,,,,before you blink...lol
Yes mate, probably because mobile phones and the internet hadn’t been invented.
Wow,,,, if i could just back to the 70 s and 8o s . Great music ,great times,Peace and pleasure .Good. Times
God Bless the Simple Man, keeping it Simple, God Bless America!
There are few masterpieces in Rock history. I would put this one to the Top-10. You?
Agreed!
Same makes me so emotional

@@annickvierra7280 Sorry to hear. Hope things are getting better w/ your son. My financials are a bit streached too.

I'm 66 and disabled, if it weren't for U-Tube , Skynard, Zeppelin I would go crazy
Good stuff
we complain saying its shit nowadays but is it really ? very good expression by the way :}
Hang in there, Dan! The Information Age makes it easier than ever to reach out to others - with tools like Discord, MMOs and forums, maybe you can find some like-minded folks to share the day; because, when the day is over, that's what it's all about.
Keep on rocking Dan.Greetings from Ireland
What is "disabled"? No one man is disabled, everyone can do what others can't. Stevie Wonder wrote plenty very good songs but couldn'see the paper he "wrote " it on. Many "abled" persons can even play a piano.
Lynyrd Skynyrd made a lot of amazing songs... This one just rises to the top. Won't a powerful song with amazing lyrics and most important, A GREAT MESSAGE.
Angel Eyes
Well stated!
Angel Eyes
Angel Eyes one of my fav songs

For my momma, RIP my guardian angel. On this day of your birth I celebrate you with jamming out to our song looking up at the stars. Always try to live by these words. Love you momma❤
My grandpa passes form cancer and all he would do is sit outside and listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd with his wife. i love that man.
Well I raised 4 children and the bigest compliment I ever had was from my youngest son. At the ripe age of 29 he said I was a simple kind of man. And I was proud.

I'm Canadian and this is my favorite song , I support America and all the 6k people who dislike can not be American or even Canadian for that matter.
Those people disliking this song need to be kicked off the planet!
Outdoors Tv You should see the video where Skynyrd opened for the Stones,1974.
some people just want to watch the world burn
I've been rocking with this band since 1975
And I'll never stop cause Lynyrd Skynyrd
Is the Best there's ever been #1.
I was at the last concert before the plane wreck man ....that I'll never forget ...got wasted with the good ole boys ...had a blast wow.
I had tickets for the Detroit show.
+D Smith I heard them for the first time in -76 and being in Norway as a teenager I was never able to see them. You are so lucky to have been able to. Must be great memories.
+D Smith Wis
+D Smith Wish I could have been there. Spent a lot of years in Alabama never was able to see them
Yeah It was a night to remember for sure. To bad you didn't make the sean man. ;-( I'll remember for both of us ;-)
I was at Liberty Hall in Houston, Texas when I first heard this band. I loved them then and still love them in 2019. This song is timeless.
Listening still in 2021. Really resonates with the shit that’s been going on in my country Canada, and my friends to the South. Simple good people will persevere. God bless us all.
🇨🇦🇺🇸
Such a beautiful song, R.I.P Ronnie
Got that right brother
Yeah
Yeah! 😂
Tropicxsette
This song always brings tears to my eyes, I cant explain it. It fills me with much emotion that is so deep in my heart.
Thanks to all of the these artists for keeping the music alive.
Ronnie's little brother does a great job of doin' his older brothers anthem song !!!
+Robert Walters Of course, but those guys are making an impressive job, they sound very good.
+Robert Walters thats rite plain and simple brother
+Robert Walters Nobody will replace Ronnie. Plain and simple. Never will we expirence the voice of Ronnie again. R.I.P. Ronnie
+Robert Walters Roger nobody can replace Ronnie. Now i assure you that Ronnie is happy that his younger brother is the one carrying his legacy.
+Robert Walters no one's tryna be nobody, bro, but everyone's doing what they can
Mama told me when I was young
"Come sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say
And if you do this it'll help you
Some sunny day"
Oh, yeah
Oh, take your time, don't live too fast
Troubles will come and they will pass
You'll find a woman, yeah, and you'll find love
And don't forget son there is someone up above
And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby, be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can?
Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need is in your soul
And you can do this, oh, baby, if you try
All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied
And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby, be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can?
Oh, yes, I will
Boy, don't you worry, you'll find yourself
Follow your heart and nothing else
And you can do this, oh, baby, if you try
All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied
And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby, be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can?
Baby, be a simple, be a simple man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby, be a simple kind of man

Love Skynard. Ive been a fan since i was 15 yrs old back in the mid 70's. Im 58 now. Still the best group ever! Rock on!
CLASS at it's very, very best in rock and roll! God how I loved that man Skynyrd. No one like him ever again!
Bloody Sinner I would have to say either Hank Williams Jr or Charlie Daniels.
+Bloody Sinner You mean like the lyrics "...which one's Pink?" in Pink Floyd's The Machine?
+USmade GOD!!! Girl, there was no lynard skynard in the band, it was one of their teachers in high school
"And by the way, which one's Pink?"
Southern Rock at its finest !! These songs are part of my life and will live forever , thank you
