    I grew up camping as a kid, but my dad always took care of this part while we waited impatiently in the truck...fast forward to 2023, and now I am a travel trailer owner and will be headed out on our first trip soon and this video helped my anxiety of the end of the trip and needing to dump and flush out everything while everyone stares at you. Very well explained. Thank you!

    I signed up for the Facebook newbie siet but it'll take a few days to be vetted. Meantime I'm in a situation that OH MY GOSH it's getting more chaotic and crazy by the day if not hour here. I watched your video and I'm ready to do this on my own. I am pretty sure I've got it nailed in my head and follow the basic directions of attach sewer hoses and clear elbow ends and get a good tight fit so they won't undo or leak. Pull the Black Tank gate release and watch it drain. Give plenty of time for it to drain. Then pull the grey tank gate release and again give plenty of time to drain. Never having done this before I may want to take a hose and I have one of those softer wands you put down the toilet into the black tank for better cleaning and flushing of any debris and I may need to do that too. Meantime the real pressure is that our temps are dropping fast here in NW MT. Four days ago we had a two day window to get this done. For some reason my husband blew the first day off. Next day we go out to head for the Dump station in town and the battery on the Class B+ won't turn over. DEAD??? All summer it was fine when we had to move it about and around. We thought we had the coach batteries set properly when on shore power to not drain the truck battery but guess some how we got it wrong. Anyway my husband decided to not jump start it but to put on a charger for the rest of the night and entire next day of RAIN. Today he took it off but did not check to see if the battery had charged. And today we never got out of the 40's. To add to the calamity I'm feeling with temps dropping and having put 5-7 gallons of water and holding tank cleaners in the RV a few weeks ago...summer was still with us then. I'm also on call for Federal Jury Duty the entire month of Oct...not called up this week but do not see any dry days the entire week. I'm not good at playing a victim so watching a few more of these wonderful videos to shore up my understanding and then ready to jump start the RV if need be tomorrow myself. The RV is my cup of tea. Hubby of 51 years has made it clear he's not a camper but has been fine with my tent camping solo for years and sometimes I've had a gal friend who loves the outdoor glamping adventure as much as me. With the ownership of my first RV there's a lot of firsts and the next stop for me is the DUMP STATION. I just hope no one drives in behind me cause I know I'm going to be SLOW making sure all is done by the book or in this case the VIDEO's how to. I've got my gloves, sanitizer, totes to hold the brand new sewer hose and apparatus. I have new gates to install but that will be next year now. Wish me luck everyone. And the same to all of you who are as green as I am and lets drink to not becoming green during the actual process...Thank you for posting Videos for us RV Newbies. Reminds me of when as a teenager I studied for my drivers test. I never parallel parked in my life but in the day MT had this wonderful little book that talked you through how to with great drawings. I was scolded over and over by my family and friends "YOU have to practice or you'll fail." No I have this my standard reply. And as I returned to the police station with the driver cop he told me to parallel park and I pulled up along side the car he pointed to and followed those directions to a T in my mind and when I had finished he turned to me and said...I've been doing these tests for over 20 years and YOU are the first person who ever did it precisely by the book. That was the best parallel parking I have ever seen.....I PASSED. And to this day I avoid parallel parking if I have options. And so to any nay sayers....my first experience at the dump station is this...."I've got this"....but I owe it all to these wonderful people who make these HOW to Videos. Freezing temps are way to close at hand so I have no choice but to HAVE THIS. 😊🙃😊

    Good job mike and camera woman susan .ha .loved your sanitizer station on the door ,my next tinker project . im installing a connection fitting at home to my septic line for ultimate no rush clean outs then a person can fiddle with things and nozzles to improve tank clean out .i was a industrial tank cleaner and later switched my company to servicing oil rigs .So i have a seen a lot of different industrial cleaning tools that can perhaps be modified for garden hose pressure or small pressure washer pump .something to break up the tank debris and spray the sensors .i have a milwaukee sewer camera so be easy to see results . thanks for the video . have a good day.

    Great video. I am learning a lot from all of them. Question, when do you add your tank treatment? When you set up? If you are traveling to another site, after flush? I havent seen that in any videos yet. Thanks

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Carol,
      We add chemical after we dump...we usually add a little water right after we dump and then add our chemical so the toilet doesn't smell while we are driving down the road. I handle all the outside activities at the dump station and Susan adds the water and chemical inside after we have dumped and while I am stowing the gear.
      Hope that helps!

    Now I see how you tell when the black tank is full with the Rhino blaster, thanks. If you have built in blank tank flush, is that as good or better?

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Rhino blaster is the same as a built in tank flush. So you should be in great shape! The Rhino is best for older RVs without the flush feature! Thank you for watching our dump station video and commenting!

  • @lisaevans5840
    @lisaevans5840 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Newer rvs have a built in black tank flush so the rinoblaster, doesn't need the gate valve to fill the black tank. Also most people flush the black tank before emptying the grey tank so the grey tank cleans you sewer hose.

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Lisa,
      Thanks for sharing that info! We empty the grey tank after the black tank too. It does clean the sewer hose. The purpose of flushing the black tank is to keep it nice and clean and debris free.

    Hello, great video - hey - comment: I see some people leave that clear elbow on the trailer and take the hose off,,, I don't think thats a good idea, what do you think? wouldn't the risk of cracking or breaking it if not removed from the trailer? Leakage? hmmm, what do you think?

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      We have seen that too and every time I say - wow that looks like it could crack if something hits it - like a rock or piece of gravel when you are leaving the campground...I don't recommend it but everyone does things their own way...
      Thanks for watching and great question!

    Newbie question: Is the dump station for those that didn't do all these steps, before leaving their camp site, where they had unrestricted access to their sewer & water lines or for those that were boon docking?

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. There are some campgrounds or campsites that do not have the sewer option as part of their hookups. Many state parks fall into that category. In that case you would have to use the dump station. Thank you for watching our Dump Station video and commenting.

    Do you leave any water in the black tank after flusing? I've seen a few that suggest you leave about 1/4 to 1/3 full to avoid the dreaded poop mountain.

    • @RVBlogger

      We do not leave any water in the black tank after flushing. We do keep the tank valve shut when camping and be sure to use enough water when flushing, that helps to reduce the poop pyramid. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    some campers have black tank rinser on the other side of there camper. hook the hose up and turn it on at the same time they open the sewer drain . so as they empty they are rinsing at the same time. so no need with the extra gate valve on there rhino connection. why they sell 2 types i would think. it seems you don't have one. maybe good for the gray tank. good to leave during the week instead of the weekend less stress if possible. PS: your way takes longer because of lack of a rinser built in. so anyone looking for a camper that is one feature you might want to consider.

      Close the gray tank while you open the black tank to drain it.. Then close the black tank before opening the gray tank to drain it. When you use the Rhinoblaster you have to open the black or gray tank valve but never both at the same time or you will get black tank matter in your gray tank.
      I hope this makes sense...

      @@RVBlogger thank you for the reply, but I thought the gray tank empties through the black tank then out the hose, there is only 1 exit hole on my camper. so if I close the black tank how will the gray tank drain out the hose?

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dragonkandy327 The gray tank and the black tank drain through the same pipe so you only need one drain hose from your RV to the drain pipe on your campsite. The valves are used to drain one tank at a time without mixing the water from the tanks. You always release the black water first then you close that valve and open the grey tank valve last to flush out the hose so it isn't nasty when you put it away.
