    Finally the actual real step by step instructions I’ve been looking for. Been procrastinating getting this done and I don’t have anyone who can show me so I really needed very clear and very thorough instructions and this has eased my anxiety and helped me feel like it’s going to be ok and I probably won’t get poop everywhere. 😅

    Great video. While I do empty my black tank first, before doing that, I open the grey valve for 2-3 seconds. That way, if the hose leaks or pops off under the initial pressure, I’m only dealing with grey water.

    Coming from a recently retired fuel hauler. I always connect to the tank first. That way, I don't accidently open the valve without being connected. I also walk the hose out before disconnecting. This decreases weight and chance of spillage. I then close the valve and disconnect. Hope this is a helpful addition to your already informative video. Happy camping!

    I always rmopen the grey tank first for 15 -30 seconds ft to make sure of good connections at each end of the hose and no leaks in the hose, then flush the black and grey again l

    Do you need 2 different water hoses for your fresh water tank and your black tank flush?

    • @JohnMarucci
      @JohnMarucci  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The black tank flush hose is often connected to the non-potable water at the dump station and this water source is not safe for drinking. You don’t want to get this mixed up. Thus, one hose that is only use with potable water outlets and a different hose only used for non-potable outlets.

    We have a 1976 camper and we don’t have a tank flush water valve. Not that we could find anyway 🤷‍♀️ this will be the first year of having any type of camper so really unsure of how to flush it lol.

    • @JohnMarucci
      @JohnMarucci  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can purchase an item that attaches to your dump hose to flush out the tank. Here is one I have purchased and used from my store: amzn.to/3w0ZnPK

    Thanks John good recap of dumping black and grey water tanks. Question: do you ever use your black water tank wash out to put 1/3 of tank water into black tank with the value closed and then flush it again? then the grey water. And do you always put 3-5 gals into black water tank after with treatment? What if you are not going to use it for a month? Do you drain the black water tank and leave empty for winterization? Thanks Bruce

    • @JohnMarucci
      @JohnMarucci  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do sometimes fill the black tank a bit to re-flush, but you have to be extremely careful as it will overflow into the trailer if you get distracted. Generally just let the black tank flush run with the black tank valve open. I do put 3-5 gallons and treatment in the black tank between trips and during season but drain it fully before winterizing. Hope this helps!

  • @donna8243
    @donna8243 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Could you save a step(s) if you refill the blank tank with some water through the flush valve while you have the hose connected and close off the drain valve?

    • @davidstanton7082
      @davidstanton7082 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. You need to still put black tank treatment in through the toilet so I don't think it would really save you any time. Another option that I use it to have 3 or 4 gallon jugs full of water that I use to put the black tank treatment in. That way I don't have to keep any water in my freshwater tank.

    • @JohnMarucci
      @JohnMarucci  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you use a water meter on your flush hose, you could add 3-4 gallons to the black tank before you disconnect. However, you would still need to add a gallon inside the trailer to add the tank treatment and flush it down. If you happen to be distracted using this method, you could easily overfill the tank. So, it can be done, but you need to be carefull and still need to go inside to add treatment. Thanks!

      how do you get that powder treatment into your gray tank? Do you just sprinkle some in your drain and run your water?

  • @jillkurtz8095
    @jillkurtz8095 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    We have a new KZ Connect 272fk, which has a separate dump line at the front where the kitchen is, for the kitchen sink tank. Should I empty that one first, then move to the back to do the black tank and finally the gray tank?

    • @JohnMarucci
      @JohnMarucci  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that would work fine as long as you do the grey tank in the back after the black tank.
