First time I came to America was in 1986. They used to play this song on the radio along with other songs such as Wang Chung - Everybody Have Fun Tonight, That's Just the Way İt is by Bruce Hornsby, Amanda by Boston and Land of Confusion by Genesis. I'll never forget those times.
Wang Chung was a band from here in England but that particular song wasn't a hit in the UK for some reason. They're more famous for tracks like Dance Hall Days over here.
yeah i feel the same way 86 was a stella yeah for most of us sorry i shuld;ve typed year i also remeber mike and the mechanics all i need or let's wait a while janet jackson
All these songs were hits around the holidays in 1986 though it was Boston's follow up song, "Were Ready" was just being released at the time. "Amanda" came out in early fall '86.
This video is soooo 1985! It's Great. And it's a very simple video and you can tell that he was standing on rolling vehicle cause you see the motorcycle cop on the right hand side for a split second and it FEELS like somewhere in Century City in Los Angeles.
I just loved and still love Luther. I remember right where I was - transporting a carful of my blessed children when, one of the eldest said: "Ummm . . . Mum, you might want to stop the car, just now. Me: "Why? You know we're going to be late if . . ." "Yeah - I'm sorry but . . . Luther Vandross just died." I stopped the car. I also recall where I was and was SO Grateful that all my children were with me, right then. Almost twenty years later, I still Miss Mr. Vandross. Thank Goodness for recording.
I was 3 years old when my dad played this in the car. The way him and my mom looked at each other back then makes me smile now. They got divorced and my dad wasn't around EVER but as a grown man, I respect him for playing this music around me. It sounds great and it gives us a bond that he doesn't know he created.
I was 4 when it came out. Mom used to jam to it and we'd dance in the living room. She left us last March so this song means more to me now! Great vibes
Love hearing a son that doesn't hate his father for being absent. Hope one day he'll try to repair some of the pain that absence caused you. I hug both my boys (13 and 16) almost everyday hoping they'll remember that I tried when they become men in case me and their mom don't make it, which seems likely as of late.

Nothing to do with Luther RIP not being here either. He is missed by many but this lady unfortunately doesn't have neither Luther or her mom in her life physically anymore. I think this is what you were trying to say just in far and few words.
I feel you. This was my mom's jam too. She'd always play it on the big stereo when she was in a good mood.
Le meilleur chanteur de Soul/Funk de toute la planète c'est Luther Vandross y a pas photo. C'est lui le meilleur
I love Luther Vandross and I was born in 95 . His voice feels like no other. We miss you Luther and may you rest in peace.
Can you imagine living in LA and all of a sudden you see Luther Vandross and back up singers strapped to a flatbed singing drives by?
Can you imagine living in LA and gas was 65 cents a gallon?!?
Yes sir!😂 I was an L.A child of the 80s and I could most definitely see myself asking my dad why are those people strapped to a flatbed and moving around like that!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
What a beautiful gem from the 80's.. Love this song so much! 🎶🎶💛
It’s crazy because this song actually better then those songs they had in the 80s Luther’s the man
@@jasondawson92 totally agree with you.. Have a nice day! 🌻
Yes! This is a toon as momma used to say god bless her she loved dear Luther x
Lamont at Large sent me here....when music was music
No thug lyrics or pants falling down just pure talent and love! You can see it in his face. Today's music is full of no talent lazy, entitled jerks! I'm not bitter just sad to see degradation of music. Long live, 60's 70's 80's and 90's!!
so so TRUE! Today's music is pure garbage.
I Know Right!! Todays music is all white trash running around with dog hair screeching death metal. Couldn't agree more.
I miss these times when music spoke to your soul... Having your first girlfriend and this song comes on while watching the sunset on a Saturday night at the beach... It's the best feeling ever ... you have to experience it to over stand what I'm talking about... I feel so sorry for the children that was born in the late 90'S and early 2000's ..I wish I had a Time Machine so y'all can see and feel the 80s & 90's.. You gotta research all the great music & create a playlist... R.I.P Luther Vandross (Gone too soon) ❤
😢😔🕯️🕯️🙏🌹🌹🌹🌹
I LOVE You Stop!🎶🎵🔴 I think I see Laura Branigan in this video! In Loving memory of Luther & Laura!!🙏🏻💗
so many clasics. I can just listen to Luther all day😊
First time I came to America was in 1986.
Andy JS Hypnotize me is one of my favorite songs from them.
All these songs were hits around the holidays in 1986 though it was Boston's follow up song, "Were Ready" was just being released at the time. "Amanda" came out in early fall '86.
@@ajs41 Their "Fun" followup "Lets Go" was a great hit! After that they disappeared forever.
Y'all see them gas prices back then, that's what i call the good old days. #TAKEMEBACKWHENTHINGSWERECHEAP
😂😂😂😂😂
80s , back when we had a heart beat in our music.👍🏼
Easily his best tune by a country mile 🎉
They had fun shooting this..
Why did he have to die i really miss this talented man they don't make music like this anymore rip luther love you and miss you sooo much ❤❤
We should all stop to love. Afterall, love is what it's all about.
I just finished all my reports early, the weekend has officially begun. Feeling good Luther vibes!!!!!🎉💖
MUCH LOVE RIP TO KING LUTHER VANDROSS. 🤘😈DRAC.BACK THIS UP
This video is soooo 1985!
Me: "Why? You know we're going to be late if . . ." "Yeah - I'm sorry but . . . Luther Vandross just died."
I stopped the car. I also recall where I was and was SO Grateful that all my children were with me, right then. Almost twenty years later, I still Miss Mr. Vandross. Thank Goodness for recording.
Watching this video and hearing the beat production within this song makes me so nostalgic. Luther in his prime, it was 1986, just wow 🙂.
Luther should stilll be here❤❤❤
This song just makes your heart feel so good.
Just wish I could time travel ! I was born 87 so missed this era I’m happy I can revisit via my phone ha !
Best voice EVER ❤

LUTHER VANDROSS THE LEGEND THAT HE WAS AND IS......we miss you big guy : )
Luther Vandross
My legendry favourite singer and a classic song and video to.....
every day! if there is reincarnation...come back Luther....please!
Una hermosa Canción de 1987 con el gran LUTHER VANDROSS QEPD 🙏🌈
Best song dude ever made. And this is one of the hardest ones to find for some odd reason
Luther so HANDSOME!
Let’s celebrate the music Luther gave us
I was 3 years old when my dad played this in the car.
Great vibes
@@sirtavion20 My Deepest Condolences
@@sirtavion20 Born in '82??
Love hearing a son that doesn't hate his father for being absent. Hope one day he'll try to repair some of the pain that absence caused you. I hug both my boys (13 and 16) almost everyday hoping they'll remember that I tried when they become men in case me and their mom don't make it, which seems likely as of late.
You work a lot and don't stop to love. So true. Thank you Luther
I didn't realize how fine Luther actual was until JUST NOW!!! 😭😭😭
Woooooow. I just realized the wonder singer Lisa Fischer is in this video. I know she and Luther were very good friends
is she the lady in blue? She's gorgeous, too. :-)

She was his background singer too.
Christie Girl That awesome
Lisa Fischer was so finne and femine. Today's women should look and learn. Bring back femininity. God Bless.
Gosh we need new age male singers to come somewhere this good. Cause Luther is one time only by the Power of God! Best Male vocalist on earth Luther Vandross.
NO ONE today comes close, not even in sight , to LUTHER!! He was the "Michael Jordan" of singing!!
Zevil Gehannivani that ever lived
You are so right
I think Luther was the greatest singer that has ever lived.
Only George Michael came close but he's gone now too...
I love this song
Awesome
His voice 😍
this is the greatest music video ever made
