George was living the dream then, I tell ya. He was maybe 24, 25 years old, on top of the world with Wham!, and got to do a duet with the Queen of Soul. It just doesn't get any better than that.
He was living the dream. He seemed very happy and then something changed with him. It wasn’t the thrill he had thought it would be. He would have been much happier doing his music without promoting any of it. Can’t say I blame him. The media and some fans were out for blood.

Look...I remember when this song came out. I was 23 years old and I knew this was 🔥 back then. I'm watching this video 35 years later and the gravity of this situation is hitting me hard. Back then, these were two _highly_ respected singers in their respective genres with only tenure separating them. Aretha earned her crown decades before, and George was the relative new kid, but his talent out-distanced his years. At the time, it was an unexpected pairing, but it only took one listen to realize this was something very special. It's music like this that makes me miss the '80s so much...

But my mom is a breast cancer survivor and she is 78 years old.🙌 Praise God for having her in my life this long!!! I have two half siblings, they are his and are grown now!! My father died in Zebulon NC at his home at the age of 58 years old. I was his only child, and he loved me I miss him so much 😢😢💔.
