Anne Brigman: A Visionary in Modern Photography

- Photographer, poet, critic, and mountaineer, Anne Brigman(a869-1950) is best known for her figurative landscape images made in the Sierra Nevada in the early 1900s. This video revisits Brigman's 2018 retrospective exhibition at the Nevada Museum of Art through photographs and poetry. Ann M. Wolfe, Senior Curator and Deputy Director for the Museum narrates the short documentary. Parents may wish to preview the video, as it contains some nudity.

THANK YOU for this presentation. I'm a traditional painter/photographer. Much as I enjoy the work of the Photo-Secession artists (Stieglitz, Steichen, & Strand - which sounds like a law firm), Brigman's images always get to me. She seemed incapable of producing photos which weren't stunning. Again, thank you. 🐧💙🐧
